ASH, Pearl (nee Regular) - Passed peacefully away in the presence of family at the Pentecostal Senior Citizen's Home, Clarke's Beach on Friday, December 30, 2005, Pearl Ash (nee Regular) formerly of Harbour Grace and St. John's, age 86 years. Predeceased by her husband J. Maxwell, daughters: Judith and Lynda, grandchildren: Tina and Michael. Pearl was the youngest child of James and Euphemia May Regular of Harbour Grace South and Montreal. She was predeceased by eight siblings: Gladys, Dorothy, Clare, Jim, Clem, Mary, Ted and Jack. Left to mourn the passing of a dear and loving mother, grandmother and great grandmother are her sons: Kevin (Jean), Spaniard's Bay, David (Marion). Calgary and Brian (Debbie), CBS; daughters: Joan (Winston) Dicker, Clarke's Beach, Lorraine (Clarence) Piercey, South River and Shelley (Ron) Fewer, Barrie; sixteen grandchildren: Stephen (Corinne) Ash, Mackinsons, Max (Darlene) Ash, CBS, Janice (Kevin) Moras, Florida, Jason Ash (friend Sarah), St. John's, Dr. Karen (Craig) Fisher, Seattle, Keith (Nicole) Dicker, Bermuda, Judy (Brian) Kavanagh, Brampton, Stacey (Steve) Demelo, BC, Melanie (Scott) Dufraimont, Barrie, Vanessa Pike (Sean Furey), Edmonton, Lyndon (Amanda) Pike, Carbonear, Corey Ash, Carbonear, Brian James and Chelsea Ash, both of CBS, Greg and Arlelle Fewer, both of Barrie; eighteen great-grandchildren; also a large number of other relatives and friends. BREWER, Roland A. - Roland A. Brewer, died peacefully at home in Bristol's Hope, NL during the early hours of Christmas Eve at the age 92. A native of Fredericton, NB, he is predeceased by his parents: Orlo and Alice (Grey) and two brothers: Orlo and Douglas. He is survived by his wife of 23 years, Margot (Viehweger), her son Nick Cutts and his wife Mary Bertucci Cutts of St. Petersburg, FL. Roland is also survived by his three daughters: Margot Brewer, a law student at the University of Ottawa; Allison Brewer, Leader of the New Brunswick New Democratic Party, and Merredith Brewer, a businesswoman and consultant in Fredericton, and her husband Richard Mann. He is also survived by eight grandchildren: Justin, Jackson, Oliver, Will, Christopher, Cameron, Anna and Katie, and a niece, Patricia Good of Fredericton. Roland graduated from the University of New Brunswick Law School in 1949 and after practicing law in Fredericton for several years, became a member of the Newfoundland Bar in 1967. He retired from his Carbonear practice at the age of 80, but continued his involvement in a number of business enterprises in the area. Roland was a Master and Taxing Officer of the Supreme Court of Newfoundland and was made an Honourary Life Member of the Law Society of Newfoundland in 1992. He was a veteran of the Second World War and has been a long-time member of the Royal Canadian Legion, Branch 23, Carbonear. Inquisitive by nature, Roland was a life-long learner, studying German up until the time of his death. He was fascinated by ingenuity, loved to cook, read and spend time with his dog Nikko. Active to the end, Roland led a long, healthy and successful life and will be mourned by his family and those who knew him well. In lieu of flowers Roland asked that, as an expression of sympathy, a donation be made to the Children's Wish Foundation. Rev. CLARKE Annie M. - Passed peacefully away at the Carbonear General Hospital on Thursday, December 8, 2005, Annie M. Clarke of Victoria, age 80 years. Predeceased by husband Augustus; parents: Alexander and Providence Clarke; son-in law James Baker; sister Eliza Snook; brothers: George and Frederick Clarke. Left to mourn, three daughters: Marie Baker, Carbonear, Linda (Allan) Willmott, Bay d'Espoir and Kay (Peter) White, Carbonear; four sons: George (Glenda) and Perry (Rhoda), both of Victoria, Paul, Heart's Delight and Lee (Betty), Carbonear; fourteen grandchildren: Caroline, James, Delores, Tony, Kelly, Paul, Tracey, Terry, Heidi, Ryan, Donetta, Andrew, Michael and Leann; eleven great grandchildren: Leonard, Alexander, Calvin, Michael, Shawn, Shane, Robert, Mariah, Emily; Hannah and Christine; two sisters: Louise Parsons and Margaret Dean, both of Victoria; sisters-in-law: Doris Clarke, Bertha May Clarke, Joyce Clarke, Hilda Clarke and Muriel (Donald) Jackson, all of Victoria, Gladys, (Thomas) Deering, Carbonear and Louise Clarke, Dunville; brothers-in-law: Bert (Olga) Clarke, Long Pond, Stanley Clarke and Pleaman (Violet) Clarke, both of Victoria and Donald (Gladys) Clarke, St. John's; very special friend Lillian Vaters, Victoria; also a large number of other relatives and friends, Pastor Geoffrey Ryan conducted the funeral service on Sunday, December 11 at Bethel Pentecostal Church and Cemetery, Victoria. MERCER, Mr. James B. - Passed peacefully away at Carbonear General Hospital on Saturday, December 24, 2005, of Bay Roberts, age 86 years. Predeceased by his parents: George and Eliza Ann Mercer; wife Mabel Mercer (nee Bradbury); sister Helen and brother George. Leaving to mourn; sisters: Elizabeth Norman and Mildred Ralph; sisters-in-law: Olive Mercer, Pearl Greenland, Evelyn Barrett and Dorothy Bradbury; brother Walter (Alfreda) Mercer; brother-in-law Harold Bradbury; and a large circle of other relatives and friends. Rev'd James Min conducted the funeral service at Central United Church and Cemetery, Bay Roberts on Tuesday; December 27, 2005. POTTLE, William John - Passed peacefully away at the Carbonear General Hospital on Tuesday, December 27, 2005, William John Pottle of Job's Cove, age 74 years. Predeceased by wife Eileen; infant son; two brothers: Wallace and Edward; one sister Hazel. Left to mourn one sister Florence (Charlie) Yetman, Bryant's Cove; sister-in-law Viola PottIe, Western Bay; friend and caretaker Janie Rose, Western Bay; also a number of other relatives and friends. REID, Ralph Howard - Passed peacefully away at the Carbonear General Hospital Dec, 6, 2005, Ralph Howard Reid of Upper Island Cove, age 80 years, Son of the late Albert and Mary Jane (Crane) Reid of Upper Island Cove. Predeceased by bothers: Albert, Leslie, Frank; sisters: Kathleen, Irene, Ella and Mary. Left to mourn his loving wife Phyllis (Mercer) of 54 years; son Gary (Geraldine) Reid, Bristol's Hope; daughters: Claudine (John) Noel, Lab, City, Marilyn (David)'Barrett, Spaniard's Bay. Precious grandkids: Brad, Wendy, Kelsey, Adam and Jennifer, and a large circle of family and friends. REYNOLDS, James - Of Carbonear, NL, (Husband of the late Joan Reynolds) passed away peacefully at the Carbonear General Hospital, Carbonear, NL on Thursday, December 22, 2005. Mr. Reynolds was 71 years old. He was predeceased by wife Joan Reynolds; parents: James and Mary Reynolds; sisters: Elizabeth (Pat) Fewer, Beatrice (Arthur) Lane, Kathleen (John) Hogan; brothers: William and Michael Reynolds; brothers-in-law: William Murphy and William Kennedy. He leaves to mourn his loving family; sons: Gerard(Jeanette) and Brian, all of Toronto, ON; daughters: Ann, Rose Marie, both of Toronto, ON, and Mary Francis, Carbonear, NL; ten grandchildren and two great-grandchildren; sisters: Agnes Reynolds, Rose (John Will) Mutrey and Margaret Kennedy, all of Carbonear; sisters-in-law: Myrtle Reynolds, Carbonear and Eileen Reynolds, Harbour Grace; two special nieces: Joanne and Kayla, Carbonear; and a large circle of relatives and friends. The Funeral Mass took place on Tuesday, with Inurnment on Thursday, December 29, 2005 from St. Patrick's Roman Catholic Church and Cemetery, Carbonear, NL. Pall bearers: Gerald Reynolds, Brian Reynolds, James Reynolds, James Mutrey, James Fewer and Francis Hogan. Funeral arrangements were entrusted to Slade's Funeral Home, Powell Drive, Carbonear.

RORKE, James Ernest - Passed peacefully away in the presence of his devoted family at the Health Sciences Center on Wednesday, December 7, 2005, James Ernest Rorke, formerly of Carbonear, aged 86 years. He was the managing director of the former Rorke Fish and Coal Co. Ltd. and North Atlantic Bulkcargos Ltd., Carbonear, NL. He was also the former operator of the M.V. Elizabeth and former director of Newfoundland Light and Power. Predeceased by his sister Yvonne Pratt. Leaving to mourn wife Joy; two daughters Jill of St. John's and Joy (Wilson) King of Salmonier Line, NL. Also leaving to mourn five grandchildren: Jennifer (fianc Michael Walsh), Willie (Kathy Woodfine), Nicole, Christopher and Kyle King and one great-grandson: Wilson Frederick King; sister: Patricia Yorke; niece: Lois Yorke and brother-in-law: David Newton (Rachel) of Bedford, England. At Jim's request cremation has taken place and there will be no visitation or funeral service. A family inurnment will take place in the spring of next year at the United Church Cemetery, Carbonear. RORKE, Mabel lsobel - Passed peacefully away at the Carbonear General Hospital on Thursday; December 15, 2005, Mabel Isobel Rorke of Carboenar, age 75 years. Predeceased by husband John G. W.; parents: Eugene and Mary Ellen Fogwill; brother Richard Fogwill. Leaving to mourn, four sons: John, St. John's, Gene, Lower Sackville, NS, Ted, Toronto, ON and Neil, her faithful and constant caregiver, with whom she resided, Carbonear; two grandchildren: Jacquie Rorke, Red Deer, AB and Amy Rorke, Ottawa, ON; brother-in-law Richard (Patricia) Rorke, St. John's; one sister Muriel (Malcolm) Squires, Thunder Bay, ON; sister-in-law Pansy Fogwill, Millertown; special niece Petrina (Richard) Balsom, Heart's Content; special great nephew Riley Balsom, Heart's Content; special aunt Annabelle Peddle, Bloomfield; special caregiver Brenda Oates, Carbonear; friend and caretaker Morley Colbourne, Carbonear; special lifelong neighbors: Sandy and Edna Butt, Carbonear; constant friends and fellow quitters: Joanne O'Brien, Norma King, Carol Wheeler, Loretta Mereer and Verna Badcock; also other nieces, nephews and other relatives, friends and students. ROWE, Stephen A. - Passed away suddenly at his residence on Sunday, December 18, 2005. Stephen was 23 years old. He was predeceased by his brother Shane O'Leary; grandparents Samuel and Annie May Mutrey; grandmother Lillian Rowe; grandfather Dennis O'Leary; uncles: Leonard Penney and David Rowe. He leaves to mourn his loving family: mother Linda (Peter) O'Leary; father Tony (Susan Diamond) Rowe (children Trevor and Leslie); sister Shanna O'Leary; brother Andrew O'Leary; and a large number of uncles, aunts, cousins, relatives and friends. The funeral service was conducted by Major Bert Hopkins on Thursday, December 22, 2005 from the Salvation Army Citadel, the interment service was held at the Salvation Army Cemetery, North Side, Carbonear. SHEPPARD, Joyce - Passed peacefully away at the Carbonear General Hospital on Thursday, December 1, 2005, Joyce Sheppard of Victoria, age 71 years. Predeceased by husband Gordon N.; son Gordon and baby daughter Charmaine. Left to mourn, son William (Annette), Victoria; also a number of other relatives and friends. Rev. SQUIBB, Violet J. - Passed peacefully away at the Carbonear General Hospital on Saturday, December 31, 2005, Violet J. Squibb of Carbonear, age 72 years. Predeceased by father James; brother James Jr.; sister Ethel. Left to mourn: three daughters: Peggy, Dorothy and Carol Anne; one son Howard; mother Lillian, Harbour Lodge Nursing Home, Carbonear; one brother Gord (CaroI Anne) Squibb, Carbonear; three sisters: Marjorie Schofield, Nova Scotia, May (Arthur) Burke, Victoria and Shirley (Ralph) Ellsworth, Carbonear; also a large number of other relatives and friends. Archdeacon Iliffe Sheppard conducted the funeral service on Tuesday, January 3 at Noel's Funeral Home, Water Street, Carbonear. Interment took place in the Interfaith Cemetery, Carbonear. STACEY, Myrtle Eileen - Passed peacefully away at her home in Buchans on December 21, 2005, surrounded by her family, Myrtle Eileen Stacey, age 73 years. Predeceased by her husband Willis (1992) and her parents Marcus and Minnie Hiscock. Left with loving memories are Mervyn Stacey (Ada) of Buchans, Jerry Stacey (Jane) of Clarenville, Paula Flood (Dennis) of Whitbourne, Peter Stacey (Donna) of Appleton, Karen Stacey (Fred) of Gander, Kelly Stacey of Buchans. She also leaves behind three sisters, Elizabeth Walsh (Malcolm) of Buchans, Annie Cluett (Herman) of Grande Prairie, AB, Joan Tilley of Buchans; four brothers, Peter Hiscock (Daphne) of St. John's, Mark Hiscock (Pats) of Buchans, Ralph Hiscock (Ethel) of Mount Pearl, Gary Hiscock (Mary Blanche) of Winterton. Nan Stacey always will be loved and remembered by her 13 grandchildren, Paula, Shannon, Liam, Meghan, Jonathon, Laura; Daryl, Denis, Jennifer, Katherine, Victoria, Hannah and Robert; as well as a large circle of other family and many friends. Rested at Buchans United Church. Funeral service was held on December 23 with Rev. David Pearce officiating. Interment took place on December 24 at All Saints Cemetery, Gander. Donations in her memory can be made to The Janeway Hospital Foundation or The Children's Wish Foundation. Funeral arrangements entrusted to the care of Kittiwake Funeral Home, Pound Cove/Musgrave Harbour.
