ABBOTT, Daphne

Daphne was born at the Clown's Cove area of Freshwater, Carbonear on February 7, 1929, during a blizzard as the third daughter of Laura and Charles Butt, a sixth generation member of her extensive family. After graduation from high school, Daphne taught for eight years at various schools in the province, ending in Gander in 1956. From Gander, Daphne lived as a life companion and soul mate of husband Bruce at New Brunswick, Ontario, Newfoundland, Germany, and the United States, before returning home in retirement at Harbour Grace in 1990.
Daphne was predeceased by brother, Roland James and sisters, Mabel, Florence, Cecily, and Emma 'Peggy' and is remembered fondly by husband, Bruce, brother, John, sisters-in-law, Lillian, Ruby, and Frances, and brothers-in-law, Alexander Bishop, Winston Abbott, and John Cayer. Daphne is also remembered with happiness by her extended family of three generations, and her many friends and acquaintances. The family received relatives and friends at Noel's Funeral Home, Harvey Street, Harbour Grace. A funeral service celebrating Daphne's life was held on Wednesday, August 30 at Coughlan United Church, Harbour Grace. Following the service, Daphne was laid to rest in the United Church Cemetery at Freshwater, Carbonear among her many family members and friends of past years. Passed peacefully away at the Carbonear Long Term Care Facility on Monday, August 21, 2017, Annie L. Byrne of Riverhead, Hr. Grace, age 74 years. Predeceased by husband: William; parents: James and Elizabeth Clarke; brother: Melvin; sister: Marion White. Left to mourn, daughter: Sheila (Dennis) Lambe, Bay Roberts; two sons: Jim (Lyda), Riverhead, Harbour Grace and Tony (Lilly), Blaketown; three grandchildren: James, Sarah, and Patrick; three brothers: Albert Clarke (Marguerite), Carbonear, James (Cynthia) Clarke, and Norm (Leona) Clarke, both of Victoria; sister-in-law: Pearl Clarke, Ontario; also a number of nieces, nephews, extended family and friends. EDWARDS, Julia M.

Passed peacefully away in the presence of her loving family at the Carbonear General Hospital on Tuesday, August 1, 2017, Julia M. Edwards of Riverhead, Harbour Grace, age 91 years. Left to mourn, seven daughters: Carol 'Toni' LeBlanc, Madonna Edwards, Sharon (Randel) Babb, Diane (Calvert) Mesh, Beverly Edwards, Michelle (Murray) Crocker, and Jacqueline (Donald) Spencer; two sons: Phillip and Gary (Bernadette); twenty grandchildren: Rae, Jo-Ann, Makala, Stephanie, Kent, Daniel, Christopher, Nicole, Philip John, Jeffery, Cory, Tracey, Philip, Peter, Renee, Joshua, Jennifer, Miranda, Jamey, and Samantha; twenty-four great-grandchildren: Rainey, Tyler, Devon, Rikki, Bradon, Avery, Gabriel, Mackenzie, Rhiannon, Blake, Daniel, Jack, Isabella, Mia, Ava, Cody, Blake, Willow, Bhody, Jace, Reed, Drew, Madisyn, and Dylan; one Great-Great-Granddaughter: Lily; also many other relatives and friends. PILGREN, Margaret Patricia (Taylor)

Margaret Patricia (Taylor) Pilgren
, Grand Junction, Colorado, entered into the arms of the angels on August 12th after a courageous battle with cancer. Born in Carbonear, NL on March 17, 1940, "Pat" was predeceased by parents Fred and Florizel Taylor, and her husband, Richard B. Pilgren. Pat is survived by daughters Sherri Taylor-Pilgren and Heather (Kit) Skinner, grandchildren: Taylor B and Devron, all of Grand Junction, brothers: Keith (Barbara) - St. Philips ,NL, Robin - Lac du Bonnet, Manitoba, sisters: Cynthia - Ottawa, Glenda, New Jersey, cousins, nieces and nephews. To remember Pat, donations may be made to St. Jude's Children's Research Hospital, Guiding Eyes for the Blind or World Wildlife Fund (in honor of her grandchildren).

Predeceased by father: Llewellyn Drover; step-father: Wesley Smith, and mother: Hortensia. Left to mourn, husband: June; daughter: Shona (Blair) Colbourne, Victoria; three grandchildren: Zachary, Diego, and Brady; brother: Reg (Alma) Smith, Corner Brook; three sisters: Eliza (Claude) Stratton, Pasadena, Elaine (Terry) Gardner, and Florence (Eric) Brown, both of Corner Brook; sister-in-law: Emma (Joseph, deceased) Noel, Carbonear; brothers-in-law: Clyde (Daphne) Sutton, Grand Falls-Windsor and Hayward (Sheila) Sutton, Abbottsford, BC; also a large number of other relatives and friends. Left to mourn, wife: Elsie; two daughters: Kimberley Craig, New York, USA and Josephine Turnbull, Carbonear; one son: Harvey Turnbull, Tumbler Ridge, BC; seven grandchildren; two brothers: Cliff, Nova Scotia and Harris (Sharon), Victoria; two sisters: Agnes Bizarred and Julie Brown, both of Ontario; brother-in-law: Norman Roberts, Labrador; also a large number of other relatives and friends.
