ABBOTT, Hannah (nee-Burton) - Passed peacefully away at the Interfaith Citizen's Home in Carbonear on August 12, Hannah Abbott (nee-Burton) in her 98th year. Born on July 17, 1910 in Hay Cove Long Island, Placentia Bay. Predeceased by her husband Walter Abbott (1995), her sisters Ethel, Annie (Clem) Berkshire, Alice and Margaret (Rose) and her brother John (Enith). Leaving to mourn her loving daughter Margaret Ayad (Nabil) with whom she resided in Bay Roberts until April of this year, and her two loving and much loved grandsons Neddal Ayad and Helme Ayad and his wife Maaike Charron, brother-in-law Robert Rose, special nieces Joyce Wareham and Audrey Mills, and special nephew Ray (Alma) Berkshire, as well as a large number of loved nieces and nephews, and a large circle of relatives and friends. In lieu of flowers, donations in her memory may be made to St. Matthew's Anglican Church, or the Alzheimer's Society of Newfoundland and Labrador. Rev'd Linda Osmond conducted the funeral service at St. Matthew's Anglican Church, Bay Roberts on Wednesday, August 15, 2007. Funeral arrangements were entrusted to Moore's Funeral Home, Bay Roberts. Pallbearers were Neddal Ayad, Helme Ayad, Brian Gleeson, David Alcock, Bill Hedges and George Lee.

ANDREWS, Doris (nee Babb) - Passed peacefully away in the presence of her two children on August 6, 2007. Predeceased by husband Lloyd W. Andrews Oct. 9, 1976 and parents: William and Bertha Jane Babb; sister: Pearl Babb Evans, Montreal; brothers: Graham Babb, Cyril Babb and William Babb of Harbour Grace. Left to mourn the sad loss of their beloved mother, daughter Jane and husband Joey George of Harbour Grace, son David and wife Faye Andrews of Harbour Grace, cherished grandchildren, Kate George, Calgary and Peter George of Harbour Grace, also left to mourn, sisters Maysie and husband Alec Moores and Ida Weeks of Harbour Grace, brothers: Canon Randell Babb, St. John's and Lorenzo and wife Estelle Babb of Harbour Grace, sisters-in-law, Myra Babb and Lillian Babb of Harbour Grace, Margaret and husband Ted Noseworthy, Sydney, NS and Edith Splane, Calgary, also leaving to mourn many close nieces, nephews and their families in Harbour Grace, St. John's and Montreal. ARCHIDBALD, Lloyd Cleveland - Of Halifax. It is with both sadness and joy that son Greg and daughter Diane Archibald wish to announce the peaceful passing of their loving father, Lloyd Cleveland Archibald, Friday, August 17, 2007 at home. Son of the late Herman and Annie Archibald of Harbour Grace, NL "Poppy" lived the last few years of his life at the Halifax home of son Greg, daughter-in-law Christine McKenna and grandchildren: Laura, Mark and Andrew. It was an added joy for his daughter Diane of Petaluma, California, to join the family in caring for Poppy at home through the last days of his illness. He is also survived by his brother Albert "Wool" Archibald of Toronto, ON; his "Bannerman House" family and relatives abroad as well as many friends old and new from Newfoundland to California many of whom were able to express their love in these last days. Poppy lived life to the full through the love of family, friends, food (especially at Smitty's), good fun and many famous stories. He was a community minded person who served through the establishment of a private hotel business with his beloved wife Grace, government committees on the fishery in NL, and a number of other personal contributions. In his earlier married life, he helped with the development of the family farming business, Archibald Farms Ltd., in the 1950's to the 1970's. After retirement he lived in Belleville, ON, Miramichi, NB and finally in Halifax, NS with his son Greg and family As a spiritual note, Lloyd drew closer to God in his final years, reestablishing his relationship with Christ kindled through the church family of First Congregational Church of Halifax and Sustained by nights with Billy Graham, a lifetime hero. Many thanks to the Healthcare team of: Drs. John F. Archibald, family doctor; the Palliative Care Service; VON and Continuing care; Life Care; and the Canadian Red Cross workers whose exceptional professional home support and care enabled Lloyd to experience a peaceful home death surrounded by loving family. A special note of thanks to the family Dalhousie Family Medicine in supporting Greg and Chris at this time. Cremation has taken place under the direction of Atlantic Funeral Homes, 6552 Bayers Road, Halifax. A funeral service was held at First Congregational Church of Halifax on Monday; August 20. An interment service was also held in Miramichi, NB on August 21 through Davidson's Funeral Service. In lieu of flowers, the family request that donations be directed to the Canadian Red Cross, the Heart and Stroke Foundation or a charity of choice. BRIEN, Doreen - Passed peacefully away in the presence of her loving family at the Carbonear General Hospital on Tuesday, August 28, 2007, Doreen Brien of Carbonear, age 73 years. Predeceased by husband: Thomas; sisters: Millicent Carter and Elizabeth Bradshaw; brother: Winston Parrott. Left to mourn, one daughter: Gloria (David) Tetford, Carbonear; one son: Keith, Carbonear; two grandsons: Brian and Mark; brother-in-law: Lloyd Brien, Carbonear; sisters-in-law: Florence (Bill) Reynolds, Harbour Grace, Doris (Bill) Taylor, Texas, USA, Evelyn Parrott, Corner Brook and Mary Brien, Carbonear; also a large number of nieces, nephews and other relatives and friends. Archdeacon Iliffe Sheppard conducted the funeral service on Friday, August 31 at St. James Anglican Church, Carbonear. Interment was in the Interfaith Cemetery, Carbonear. CLARKE, George W.- Passed peacefully away at the Carbonear General Hospital on Thursday, August 2, 2007, George W. Clarke of Blackhead, age 87 years. Predeceased by brothers: Roland, Allan and Herb; sisters: Mary, Louise and Lima. Leaving to mourn, wife: Pearl; one brother: Gordon (Joyce), Victoria; three sisters: Joyce (Sandy) McGregor and Marion (Milton) Sellars, both of Toronto, ON and Jessie (Jack) Ryan, Montreal, PQ; also a large number of nieces, nephews and other relatives and friends. FINN, Kevin - April 1, 1935 - August 28, 2007. Passed away after a series of illnesses at his home in Milton, ON, Kevin Finn, a native of Carbonear, at the age of 72. Son of Patrick and Agatha Finn. Leaving to mourn sons: Brian (late Rhonda), Greg (Christine) and Joe; daughters: Clare (Bob) and Peg, also their mother Anne. Survived by eight grandchildren, nieces and nephews, as well as a brother Loyola (Ellen), California; sisters: Gertrude (John Coady), Hr. Grace, Patricia (Peter Withers), St. John's; sister-in-law Florence Finn, Hr. Grace. Visitation was held on August 30-31, followed by liturgy of Christian burial. Inurnment will take place in his hometown, Carbonear, at a later date.

FLEMING, Patrick 'Pat' - Passed peacefully away at Harbour Grace on Wednesday, August 15, 2007, Pat Fleming, age 94 years. Retired Air Traffic Controller with Transport Canada, Gander, NL. Predeceased by parents: Michael and Lucy; four brothers: Frank, James, Thomas and Michael. Left to mourn special niece with whom he resided, Marie (Francis) Sullivan, Harbour Grace and their children, Paul (Jennifer), Stephen (Caroline) and Maggie; niece: Margaret Fleming, Harbour Grace; nephew: Frank (Justina) Fleming, Harbour Grace and their children, Liam (Janelle) and Tara (Frank) Poce; as well as many other nieces, nephews, cousins and friends. Fr. F.J. Aylward conducted the funeral Mass on Saturday, August 18 at Immaculate Conception Roman Catholic Church and Cemetery, Harbour Grace. Left to mourn, nine daughters: Nina (Fred) Penney, Salmon Cove, Ursula (George) Penney and Shirley Peddle, both of Kitchener, ON, Elsie Earle, Carbonear, Hilda (George) Slade and Myra (David) Vaters, both of Salmon Cove, Joyce (Lloyd) Barrett, Carbonear, Millicent (Philip) Slade and Ruby (William) Deering, both of Salmon Cove; six sons: Wallace (Daphne), Victoria, Guy (Brenda), Port Elgin, ON and William (Cathy), Conestogo, ON, Hayward (Jessie), Carbonear, Eugene (Susan), AB and Graham (Cathy), Chamberlains; a large number of grandchildren, great-grandchildren and great-great-grandchildren; also a large number of other relatives and friends. HANCOCK, Mildred - Passed peacefully away at the Glenbrook Lodge, St. John's on Tuesday, August 7, 2007, Mildred Hancock of Burnt Point, age 87 years. Predeceased by husband: Eli 2000. MOORES, Ina A. - Of Windham, NH, formerly of Wakefield, MA and New Port Richey, FL, died on Thursday, August 2 at the age of 88, at the Windham Terrace in Windham, NH. Born in Salmon Cove, Newfoundland on August 16, 1918, she was the daughter of the late Samuel S. and Hilda (Kelloway) Case. Mrs. Moores was a graduate of Revere High School in MA. She was a retired Assistant Manager for the former American Mutual Insurance Company in Wakefield. Mrs. Moores had been a resident of Wakefield, MA from 1946 to 1977 and a resident of New Port Richey, FL from 1977 to 2000. She spent summers with her family on Balch Pond in Newfield, ME. Mrs. Moores was a member of the Wakefield-Lynnfield United Methodist Church in Wakefield, MA and also a member of the Order of Eastern Star. She was the beloved wife of the late Richard C. Moores. She was the loving mother of Richard C. Moores II of Evergreen, CO and the late Linda J. Sherman. Sister of Muriel Ellis of Fort Pierce, FL and the late Myrtle J. McCulloch. She was the devoted grandmother of Jon Sherman of Boston, MA, Jeremy Sherman of Manhattan Beach, CA, Christina Moores, Samuelson of Arvada, CO, and Capt. Casey Moores, US Air Force. A funeral service was held in Wakefield Lynnfield United Methodist Church, 273 Vernon St., Wakefield, MA on Wednesday and Interment followed at Puritan Lawn Memorial Park in Peabody.

MOORES, Vera Alice - (War Bride, formerly of England) Passed away suddenly but peacefully at St. Clare's Mercy Hospital, St. John's on Friday, August 17, 2007, Vera Alice Moores of Carbonear, age 87 years. Predeceased by husband: William; parents: Joseph and Ada Brown; sister: Audrey Brown. Left to mourn with cherished memories sons: Richard (Bernadette), Mount Pearl, David (Susan), Australia and Charles (Melvina), Mount Pearl; daughter: Sandra (Robert) Matthews, Botswana; eight grandchildren; six great-grandchildren; also a large circle of other relatives and friends. She will be greatly missed by all. A proud English Lady who made Newfoundland her home. Rev. NOEL, George Stanley - Passed peacefully away at The Pentecostal Senior Citizens Home, Clarke's Beach on August 28, George S. Noel, (formerly of Freshwater, Conception Bay) age 89 years. Predeceased by wife Christina (Symonds), February 2005. Leaving to mourn many nieces, nephews and other relatives, including the Symonds family. At Mr. Noel's request, cremation has taken place. A Committal Service will be held at "The Field of Honor", Mount Pleasant Cemetery 2 p.m. Thursday Sept. 6, 2007. POTTLE, Emmie M. - Passed peacefully away at the Agnes Pratt Nursing Home, St. John's on Wednesday, September 5, 2007, Emmie M. Pottle of Job's Cove, age 81 years. Predeceased by son: Rodger Gary and granddaughter: Wendy.
