HISCOCK, George L. - Passed peacefully away at the Carbonear General Hospital on Wednesday, August 30, 2006, George L. Hiscock of Freshwater, Carbonear, age 86 years. Predeceased by wife Agnes; daughter Dorothy; sons Wilfred and Gilbert; grand-son Wally Turnbull; son-in-law Frederick Turnbull; step-son Douglas Reese; brothers Wilfred and Richard; sisters Mary "Polly", Rhoda and Suzannah. Left to mourn three daughters Mabel Turnbull, Freshwater, Carbonear, Marjorie (James) Penney, Carbonear and Rita (Karl) Slade, Salmon Cove; four sons George (Donna), Freshwater, Carbonear, David (Regina), St. John's, Elvis (Debbie), Freshwater, Carbonear and Roger (Cheryl French), Carbonear; step-daughter Thelma (Cecil) Churchill, Toronto, ON; step-sons Wilfred (Ruby) Reese, Spaniard's Bay and Frederick (Shirley) Reese, Whitehorse, YK; daughter-in-law Beulah Hiscock, Grand Prairie, AB; also a large number of grandchildren, great-grandchildren, other relatives and friends. Rev. Jesse Bown conducted the funeral service on Saturday, September 2 at Noel's Funeral Home, Carbonear. Interment was in the United Cemetery, Freshwater, Carbonear. HOGAN, Catherine (M) (Kitty) - Of Northern Bay, NL. (Wife of the late Thomas Benedict Hogan) passed away peacefully at the Carbonear General Hospital, Carbonear, NL on Wednesday, August 2, 2006. Mrs. Hogan was 88 years old. She was predeceased by her husband Thomas Benedict Hogan; parents Gregory and Margaret Layman; grandson Matthew Halfyard; brothers: Leo, Patrick and Michael Layman and sisters: Theresa White and Elizabeth White. She leaves to mourn her loving family; sons: Patrick (Joan) Hogan, Western Bay, Leo (Barbara) Hogan, Northern Bay, Peter (Barbara) Hogan, Northern Bay, Brendan (Barbara) Hogan, Northern Bay; daughters: Margaret (James) Halfyard, Kilbride, Madeline (Cyril) Puddester, Northern Bay; Patricia (Robert) Wickham, Kelligrews, Rose (Kevin) Murphy, Kilbride, Marie (Terry) Kennell, Small Point, Catherine (Wade) Barrett, St. John's; 24 grandchildren, 20 great- grandchildren and one great-great-grandchild; and a large circle of relatives and friends. The Funeral Mass was held on Saturday; August 5, 2006 from Corpus Christi Roman Cathloic Church and Cemetery, Northern Bay. Pallbearers: Brad Kennell, Brian Barrett, Brendan Hogan, Troy Wickham, Mark Hogan and Tom Hogan. Funeral arrangements were entrusted to Slade's Funeral Home Powell Drive, Carbonear.

JONES, Herbert J. - Passed peacefully away at Carbonear Hospital in the presence of his family on August 14, 2006, Herbert Jones of Spaniard's Bay, aged 65 years. Predeceased by parents: Llewellyn and Mary Jones. Leaving to mourn wife Marie; daughter: Kim (Cory); brother: Llewellyn (Daphne); sisters: Freda Titford (Ben) and Hazel Thompson (Melvin). Funeral service was held at Holy Redeemer Church, Spaniard's Bay on Thursday, August 17, 2006. Interment followed at St. Peter's Cemetery, Upper Island Cove.

KING, Albert J - Passed peacefully away at his residence on Friday, August 18, 2006, Albert J. King of Victoria, age 59 years. Predeceased by parents: Cecil and Winnifred; sister: Rosalie and brother-in-law: Fred; brother: Ches. Left to mourn wife: Cynthia; two sons: Larry (Julie), Victoria and Glenn (Courtney), Gander; daughter: Denise (Alfred) Baker, Salmon Cove; three grandchildren: Kenny, Kendra and Riley; four brothers: Herman (Jessie), Cecil (Sylvia) and Gilbert (Dianne), all of Victoria and Donald (Florence), Mount Pearl; three sisters: Vera (Derrick) Penney and Louise (Roy) Rose, both of Salmon Cove and Ruby (Wallace) Snow, Freshwater, Carbonear; sister-in-law: Melvina King, Victoria; also a large number of other relatives and friends. Predeceased by husband: Arthur, 1957; daughters: Joyce Parsons, 1937, Irene Parsons, 1940, Donna Cumby; 1988 and Julie Cole, 1992; son-in-law: Ashmore Cole, 1993; granddaughter: Debbie Cole; brother: John Slade; sisters: Gertrude Ash, Asenath King, Millie Slade and Cicily Cole. POWER, Gordon B. - Passed peacefully away at his residence on Wednesday, August 30, 2006, Gordon B. Power of Harbour Grace, age 80 years. Predeceased by his first wife Helen Isabel, 2001. Left to mourn wife Agnes Kelly; daughter Helen (Ted) Whelan, Riverhead, Harbour Grace; son Danny (Barbara), Carbonear; seven grandchildren Stephen (Cathy), Theresa (Perry), Teddy; Matthew, Cathy, Natasha and Michael; three great-grandchildren Ocean, Piper and Julia; brother Charles, St. John's; five sisters Stella Devereaux, Dorothy (Clem) Jackman and Marina Power, all of St. John's, Sister Marion Power, Presentation Convent, St. John's and Kathleen (Albert) Kennedy, Ormocto, NB; also a large number of other relatives and friends. At Gordon's request, cremation took place and a private inurnment service was held at Coughlan United Church Cemetery, Harbour Grace. Predeceased by wife: Catherine Pottle; son: Gerald; daughters: Winnie and Mary Ellen; brother: Jim; son-in-law: Lawrence; sisters-in-law: Gladys and Von; brothers-in-law: John Michael, Arthur and Stan. Leaving to mourn: sons: Johnny, Selby (Marilyn), David, Edmund (Naomi), Rodney, Dennis (Christine), Steven (Kim); daughters: Kate (Melvin), Theresa, Sharon (Howard), Josephine (Don), Jean (John), Ruth (Hayward); 38 grandchildren, 39 great grandchildren and two great great grandchildren; sisters: Fanny Jane, Julie, Florence; brothers: Henry (Esther), Warrant (Ann), Arthur (Gertie), Abner, David (Sarah), Gary (Stella); son-in-law: Wilfred; sisters-in-law: Esther and Gladys; and a large circle of other relatives and friends. Reverend Joseph Burton conducted the funeral service at Trinity United Church and Cemetery, Shearstown on Wednesday, August 16, 2006. Pallbearers were: Steven Snow, Edmund Pottle, Johnny Pottle, Dave Pottle, Selby Pottle, Rodney Pottle, Dennis Pottle, Ruth Pottle, Josephine Pottle, Theresa Butler, Sharon Fowler, Jean Pike and Kate Mugford. Funeral arrangements were by Moore's Funeral Home, Bay Roberts.

WILLIAMS, Mrs. A. Doris - Passed peacefully away at Carbonear General Hospital on Monday, August 21, 2006, Mrs. Doris Williams of Clarke's Beach, aged 91 years, wife of the late Douglas Williams, Pharmacist, Clarke's Beach. Predeceased by parents Arthur and Eliza Coombs; sister Wilhelmina (Allen) Dawe. Leaving to mourn; one daughter: Muriel (David) Dawe; two grand-children: Heidi (Ryan) Andrews and Charlotte (Wayne) Kupferschmidt; one great grandchild: Dawson Andrews; sisters-in-law: Muriel Marshall and Gwen Williams; brother-in-law: Newman Williams; and a large circle of relatives and friends. Rested at Moore's Funeral Home, Clarke's Beach. Interment was at Clarke's Beach United Cemetery, Clarke's Beach. Funeral arrangements were by Carl R. Moore of Moore's Funeral Home, Clarke's Beach. Pallbearers were Ryan Andrews, John Bartlett, Wally Evans, Kurt Dawe, Max Hussey and Peter Marshall.
