BUTT, Frederick John - Of Carbonear passed peacefully away at the Carbonear General Hospital on Sunday, August 28, 2005. Mr. Butt was in his 69th year. Predeceased by parents: Lorentise and Julia Butt; nephew Bradley Butt and son-in-law Roy Oates. He leaves to mourn his loving family: wife Elizabeth (Martin) Butt, Carbonear; daughter Ruby Spracklin, Carbonear; sons: Lorentise Butt, St. John's, Stephen (Kathy), C.B.S., John Kennedy (Kathy), Carbonear and Shawn (Beverly) Butt, Carbonear; grandchildren: Connie, Sherry, Holly, Stephen, Leslie, Julia, Tyler, Coady and Brianna; brother Warwick (Maizie) Butt, Summerford, Notre Dame Bay; and a large circle of relatives and friends. The funeral service took place Wednesday, August 31, 2005 from Bethany United Church, followed by the inurnment at the Interfaith Cemetery Carbonear, NL. As expressions of sympathy, donations may be made in his memory to the Children's Wish Foundation or the C.N.I.B. Funeral arrangements were entrusted to Slade's Funeral Home, Powell Drive, Carbonear.

COOLEN, Myrtle Grace - Passed peacefully away at Carbonear Hospital, Monday, August 29,2005, Myrtle Grace Coolen of Callingwood Downs, Clarke's Beach, at age 92. Predeceased by her husband, Mervin, August 1999. She is survived by her children: Diane (Don) Russell, Bill (JoAnne) Coolen, Margi Rosse (Whitfield Andrews), five grandchildren, four great-grandchildren and three step-grandchildren and their families. She is also survived by one brother and three sisters and their families as well as several brothers and sisters-in-law and their families; and many loving friends. Memorial service will be held at St. George Anglican Church, North River, Thursday, September 1, 2005, 2 p.m. No flowers by request. Donations may be made to Callingwood Downs, P.O. Box 160, Clarke's Beach, AOA 1WO, or charity of your choice. The family wishes to express their gratitude and: appreciation of loving care given Mom by the staff and administration of Callingwood Downs, Clarke's Beach.

CULL, Eldon J. - Passed peacefully away at Carbonear General Hospital Saturday, Aug. 20, 2005, Eldon J. Cull of Caplin Cove, age 58 years. Left to mourn his wife Doreen, one daughter Paula (Mark Housser), Caplin Cove; one son Corey (Holly French), Edmonton, AB; grandson and "little buddy" Cameron; parents Harrison and Marguerite, Caplin Cove; mother-in-law Blanche Morris, Burlington, ON; brother George (Carolyn), St. John's; sister Valerie (Calvin) Squires, Mount Pearl; sister-in-law Mamie (Alonzo) Power, Mount Pearl; brothers-in-law Fred Morris, Montreal, PQ and Paul (Jennifer) Morris, Mount Pearl; also a number of nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends. Rev. Howard Crane conducted the funeral service on Tuesday, Aug. 23 at Noel's Funeral Home, Main Highway, Western Bay. Interment followed in the Anglican Cemetery, Caplin Cove. HEDGES, Viola M. - Passed peacefully away at the Harbour Lodge Nursing Home, Carbonear on Thursday, August 4, 2005, Viola M. Hedges of Carbonear, age 84 years. Predeceased by parents: Herbert and Minnie; sisters: Lavinia Pike and Winnie Downing and brothers: Eldred and William. Leaving to mourn sister-in-law Elizabeth Hedges, Carbonear; special niece Margaret Rose (Guy) Penney, CBS and their daughter Elizabeth (Jeff) Churchill, Topsail; niece Glenda (Eric) Colbourne, Carbonear; nephews: David (Donna) Downing, Victoria, Bert (Lydia) Downing and Cyril Downing, both of Harbour Grace; special friends: Mary Brien, Carbonear and Sonia and Ross Churchill, Portugal Cove; also a large number of other relatives and friends. JEWER, William - Passed suddenly away at the Carbonear General Hospital, Carbonear, Monday, August 1, William Jewer of Spaniard's Bay aged 55 years. Predeceased by parents: William and Laura Jewer; brother Cyril Jewer and his sister Flora Jewer. Left with fond and loving memories are his daughters: Tammy Smith, Tilton, Tanya Jewer, Barrie, ON; son Cory Jewer of Innisfil, ON; sisters: Ruby Gosse, Tilton, Betty Pardy, Paradise, Mildred Stone, Bryants Cove and Olga Pardy, Scribber, ON; two grandchildren: Ryan Smith, age 11, Brandon Smith, age 8; and a large circle of relatives and friends. Cremation has taken place and the inurnment was in Maul Tree Hill, Anglican Cemetery, Spaniard's Bay with family and close friends. SOOLEY, Eugene Herman
January 3, 1917 - August 31, 2005

Passed peacefully away at the Health Sciences Complex on Wednesday, August 31,2005, Eugene H. Sooley of Heart's Delight, age 88 years. Predeceased by wives Mary, 1960 and Janie, 1998 and son Don, 1998. Left to mourn are five children: Frank (Minnie), Heart's Delight; Minnie (Mac) Simmons, Green's Harbour; Winston (Matilda), Comer Brook; Eugene Jr. (Myra), Comer Brook; Lillian (Glenn) Simmons, Hopeall and stepson Leonard Crocker, Labrador City; 20 grandchildren, 21 great-grandchildren and one great-great grandchild. Lovingly remembered by a large number of other relatives and friends. Funeral services were held Friday, Sept. 2 at St. Matthew's Anglican Church, Heart's Delight. THOMS, Rita A. - Passed peacefully away in the presence of her loving family at the Interfaith Citizen's Home, Carbonear on Monday, August 29, 2005, Rita A. Thoms of Carbonear, age 78 years. Predeceased by brother Alex and sister Ethel. Left to mourn, husband Stanley V.; two daughters: Linda Thoms and Judy (Graham) Legge, both of Carbonear; two grandchildren Justin and Jenesta Legge; two brothers: John (Annie) Critch and Hedley (Winnie) Critch, both of Cavendish; sister-in-law Minnie Ann Critch, Cavendish; also a large number of other relatives and friends. Archdeacon Iliffe Sheppard conducted the funeral service on Wednesday, August 31 at St. James Anglican Church, Carbonear. Interment took place in the Interfaith Cemetery, Carbon ear. WAREHAM, T. Loraine - Passed peacefully away at the Carbonear General Hospital on Friday, August 26, 2005, T. Loraine Wareham of Carbonear, age 54 years. Predeceased by husband James W. "Jim" and brother Clarence. Left to mourn, her three daughters: Capt. Louise Wareham, Regina, SK, Gloria Wareham, Carbonear and Capt. Jennifer (Capt. Bradley) Reid, New Waterford, NS; one son Lonnie (Wanda), Victoria; one granddaughter Jenna; parents John C. and Louisa Delaney, Broad Cove; sisters-in-law: Gloria Delaney (Norman Tucker), Ada (Guy) Penney, Ruby Pike, Frances (Ken) Coombs and Inez (Jerd) Lewis; brothers-in-law: Albert (Phyllis) Wareham and Lon (Venie) Wareham; also a large number of other relatives and friends. Majors Wilbert and Joan Hopkins conducted the funeral service on Monday, August 29 at the Salvation Army Citadel and Cemetery, Carbonear. WHEATON, James (Jim) C. - Passed away suddenly at the Carbonear General Hospital on Thursday, August 4, 2005, Jim Wheaton of Bay Roberts, age 42 years. Predeceased by his parents Clarence and Isabel. Left to mourn, his best friend and partner Debbie Mercer, brother Randy (Judy); sister Lisa (Ken); brothers-in-law Randy (Donna) Mercer and Byron (Dianne) Mercer; nephews and nieces Shawn Mercer, Darren Wheaton, Erin Mercer, Kelita Wheaton and Kendall Wheaton; uncles Eli (Patsy) Wheaton and Jim (Geraldine) Curran; aunt Laura(Clayton)Spracklin;mother-in-law Beulah Mercer; also a large number of other relatives, friends and colleagues from the trucking industry. Rested at Broughton's Funeral Home, Brigus. Funeral service was held on Sunday, August 7, 2005 at Brigus United Church followed by inurnment in the U.C. Cemetery, Brigus. Donations in his memory may be made to the SPCA or a charity of one's choice.
