ASH, Elizabeth (Betty) M. - Passed peacefully away at the Carbonear General Hospital on Monday, April 27, 2009, Elizabeth (Betty) M. Ash of Riverhead Harbour Grace, age 77 years. RNA at Sick Kids Hospital for 17 years and at Mt. Sinai Hospital, Toronto, ON for 9 years before her retirement to Newfoundland. Predeceased by husband: Daniel; brother: Andrew Northcott; sister-in-law: Sadie Northcott; sister: Loretta Payne. Left to mourn: one daughter: Kelli Ash (Douglas Harding), Toronto, ON; three sons: Kevin (Madeleine), Oshawa, ON, Anthony, Whitby, ON and Sean (Judy), Scarborough, ON; eight grandchildren; four brothers: Joseph (Joan) Northcott, Deer Lake, Kevin (Doreen) Northcott, Kingston, ON, James (Patricia) Northcott, ON and David (Carolann) Northcott, St. John's; two sisters: Mary (Michael) McCarthy, Harbour Grace and Bernadette (Brian) MacCormick, Corner Brook; brother-in-law: Murray Payne, Oakville, ON; also a large number of other relatives and friends. Fr. F.J. Aylward conducted the Funeral Mass on Thursday, April 30 at St. Joseph's Roman Catholic Church, Riverhead, Harbour Grace. Interment took place in the Roman Catholic Cemetery, Harbour Grace. Donations in her memory may be made to the Project Restoration Fund. Funeral arrangements were entrusted to the care of Noel's Funeral Home, Harbour Grace. DUNPHY, John M. 'Jack' - Passed peacefully away surrounded by his loving family at the Carbonear General Hospital on Wednesday, April 29, 2009, John M. 'Jack' Dunphy of Carbonear, age 90 years. A WWII Veteran of the 59th NF Heavy Rgt. R.A. and 4th Degree Knights of Columbus Member, Msgr. McCarthy Council. Predeceased by wife: Mary, daughter: Maureen; parents: Thomas and Mary; seven brothers and one sister. Left to mourn, one daughter: Eileen Blackmore Dunphy, St. John's; four sons: Brian, St. John's, Thomas (Jeanne), Fredericton, NB, Daniel (Brenda), Carbonear and John (Sheila), Harbour Grace; special granddaughter: Melanie (Brian) Snow, Calgary, AB; six grandchildren: Julie (Liam), Colleen, Sarah E., Maura, Sarah A. and Lucy; one great-granddaughter: Sophia; one sister: Anne Zingaro, Atlanta, Georgia, USA; a number of nieces, nephews and other relatives and friends. Msgr. E. T. Bromley conducted the funeral Mass on Saturday, May 2 at St. Patrick's Roman Catholic Church and Cemetery, Carbonear. MCCARTHY, Rosemary Veronica - Passed peacefully away at the Carbonear General Hospital on Sunday, Apri15, 2009. Rosemary Veronica McCarthy of Upper Island Cove, age 44 years. Predeceased by her parents: Thomas and Maude McCarthy. Left with fond and loving memories her partner Lloyd Lynch of 16 years; sisters: Frances Walsh (Terry), Upper Island Cove, Marjorie Dobbin (George), Upper Island Cove, Margaret Evans (George), Spaniard's Bay; Gert Whalen (Peter), Spaniard's Bay; Doreen Whalen (Terry, Spaniard's Bay, Loretta McCarthy (Aubrey Reid), Upper Island Cove, Jessie Smith (Nath), Sudbury, ON; brother: Terry McCarthy, Upper Island Cove; 10 nieces and 6 nephews and a large circle of other relatives and friends. Rested at Hussey's Funeral Home, Upper Island Cove. The funeral service took place on Thursday, Apri19 at St. Anne's Roman Catholic Church, Spaniard's Bay followed with interment at Roman Catholic Cemetery, Upper Island Cove. In her memory flowers are not accepted but donations may be made to the Rosemary McCarthy Memorial Fund.

MORRIS-LEDREW, Florence - It is with great sadness that the family of the late Florence Morris-Ledrew of Baie Verte, age 81, announce her passing at the Central Newfoundland Regional Health Centre on Thursday, April 23, 2009. Predeceased by her first husband -Gordon Morris; her second husband-Whitfield Ledrew; mother - Sarah Boland; sisters - Bernice Boland, and Marion Driscoll. Left with fond and loving memories are her children - Dorothy Coish (Llewellyn), Bay de Verde, Garland Morris (Jean), Foxtrap and Gerald Morris (Victoria), Baie Verte; grandchildren - Kimberley Buckley (Bob), Grand Falls-Windsor, Conrad Coish (Effie Snelgrove), Grate's Cove, Roxanne Coish, Bay de Verde, Denise Saunders (Herman), Burlington, Wendy Thomas (Kerwin), Foxtrap, Laurie Collett (Tom), Baie Verte, Cory Morris (Marie- Claude), Moncton, NB; great-grandchildren - Kelsey and Keisha Buckley, Jacinda and Joshua Saunders, Parker Thomas, Chelsea Morris and Matthew Collett; brother - Clyde Boland; the Ledrew Family and a large Circle of other relatives and friends. PIKE, Marie G. - Passed peacefully away, surrounded by her loving family, at her residence on Tuesday, April 28, 2009, Marie G. Pike of Harbour Grace, age 54 years. Predeceased by parents. Left to mourn, husband: Lorne; four daughters: Lorna (Scott) Carpenter and Verna (Michael) Griffin, both of Carbonear, Michelle (Carl) Pye and Violet (Curtis White), both of Harbour Grace; two sons: John (Amy), Harbour Grace and Lorne (Lisa), Carbonear; thirteen grandchildren: Jordan, Justin, Stephanie, Gregory, Courtney, Samantha, Cherish, Preston, Aileen, Johnna, Jonathan, Destiny and Serena; one great-granddaughter: Haley; one sister: Mary Burden and beloved cousin: Linda Jenkins, both of Carbonear; also a large number of other relatives and friends. Predeceased by husband: William W. and brother: Warrick.
