Passed peacefully away at the Central Newfoundland Health Care Centre in Grand Falls-Windsor on Friday, May 18, 2012, Mr. James Matthew Piercey, age 92 years of Gaultois. Leaving to mourn his loving family: wife, Jennie; daughters, Elizabeth and husband, Joe Hiscock, at Burgeo, and Emily and husband, Chesley Rose, at Gaultois; sons, John and wife, Rita, and Matthew and wife, Beulah at Gaultois; ten grandchildren and eighteen great grandchildren; sister, Abigail Kendell at Sandyville; plus a number of other relatives and friends. Predeceased by his parents, John and Susanna Piercey; sisters, Maria, Elizabeth, Maude and Emily Funeral service was held on Monday, May 21, 2012 at 2:00 pm from St. Luke's Anglican Church in Gaultois with Rev. Passed peacefully away at the Central Newfoundland Health Care Centre in Grand Falls-Windsor on Tuesday, May 1, 2012, Mrs. Maggie T. Rose, age 85 years of Milltown. Leaving to mourn her loving family: daughter, Sadie, and husband, Calvin Simms, at Calgary, AB; two grandchildren, David and wife, Jennifer, at Halifax, NS and Daryl and wife, Melanie, at Calgary, AB; four great grandchildren, Elizabeth, Kayla, Mason and Zackary; plus a number of other relatives and friends. Predeceased by her husband, Ronald; sister, Matilda; brothers, Henry, Clayton, Hubert and Jack. Funeral service was held on Friday, May 4, 2012 at 2:00 pm from Christ Anglican Church in Milltown with Rev. Roy Simms officiating. Interment followed at the Anglican Cemetery in Milltown. Passed peacefully away at the Connaigre Peninsula Health Care Centre at Harbour Breton on May 7, 2012, Walter C. Whelan, age 84 years of St. Jacques. Leaving to mourn his loving family: wife, Margaret, of 52 years; sons, Felix and Gladys, Jerome and Frances, Brian and Sharlyn, Aloysius and Della, all at St. Jacques; daughters, Brenda and Brian, Sarah and Billy, all at Saint John, NB, Margaret and John and Marilyn, all at St. Jacques; brother, Kenneth and Wendy, at Main-a-Dieu, NS; thirteen grandchildren and two great grandchildren; special friends, John and Dorothy Phillips of English Harbour West; plus a number of other relatives and friends. Predeceased by his parents, Elizabeth (Vaters) and Jerome Whelan; brothers, Leo and Felix; sisters, Sarah and Margarite; daughter, Elizabeth; and son in law, Charlie Savory. Funeral service was held on Friday, May 11, 2012 at 1:00 pm from Sacred Heart Roman Catholic Church in St. Jacques with Father Tom Duffenais and Father Justin Dawson officiating.
