Passed peacefully away at the Head of Bay D'Espoir on Saturday, July 17, 2010, Mrs. Sarah Laivina Fudge, age 86 years. Leaving to mourn her loving family: children, Helen Kearley (Gordon) at Head of Bay D'Espoir, Don Fudge (Roberta) at Milltown, Sadie Freeman (Jeff) at Gulf Port, Florida, Hubert Fudge (Monica) at Head of Bay D'Espoir, Yvonne Strickland (Dave) at Milltown, Ralph Fudge (Ann Marie) at St. John's, Ivy Collier (Ken) at Head of Bay D'Espoir, Kevin Fudge at Ottawa, Kim Fudge (Ches Lucas) at St. John's and Denise Fudge (Alan LeBlanc) at Halifax; 23 grandchildren and 15 great grandchildren; son in law, Rod Willcott at St. Alban's; one sister, Marjorie Crant (Gordon); brother, Phillip Kearley (Pearl), all at Head of Bay D'Espoir and brother, Hubert Kearley at the Dr. Hugh Twomey Centre in Botwood, plus a number of other relatives and friends. Predeceased by her husband, Ralph, daughter, Edith, parents, Alice and Samuel Kearley, and infant babies, Phillip and Dinah, and brothers, Samuel, Harry and Robert. Funeral service was held on Tuesday, July 20, at 2:00 pm from Christ Anglican Church in Milltown with Rev. Roy Simms officiating. Interment followed at the Anglican Cemetery in Head of Bay D'Espoir. KENDALL, Bruce

Passed away at Halifax, on Wednesday, July 28, 2010, after a long and courageous battle with cancer, Bruce Kendall, formerly of Milltown, Bay D'Espoir, in his 49th year. Leaving to mourn are his two daughters, Nicole and Alexandra and their mother, Sharon; two brothers, Wayne and wife, Georgina, at Harbour Breton, NL, and Ray and wife, Pauline, at Milltown, NL. Also, leaving to mourn are three nephews, Duane, Lee and Robbie, and two nieces, Tammy Rae and Allison, plus a large circle of other relatives and friends. He is predeceased by his parents , Freeman & Mildred Kendall, and his brother, Barry Kendall. Funeral services were held on Sunday, August 1, at Christ Anglican Church, Milltown, with Rev. Roy Simms officiating. The interment of ashes followed at the Milltown Anglican Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made in his memory to Christ Anglican Church, Milltown. Passed peacefully away at the Central Newfoundland Health Care Center in Grand Falls-Windsor on Monday, July 12, 2010, Mrs. Gladys Matchem, age 84 years of Milltown, formerly of Stone Valley. Leaving to mourn her loving family: six daughters, Mary (George Lee), Pauline (Ray Kendall) at Milltown, Eva (George Kiranis) at Calgary, Ada (Jim Collier) at Fort MacMurray, Freda (Lionel Willcott) at Ottawa and Natalie (Brian Dyke) at Rencontre East; four sons, Cyril (Genevieve) at Milltown, Norman (Linda), Clayton (Anne) and Clyde (Danielle) all at Fort MacMurray; 25 grandchildren, 10 great grandchildren plus a number of other relatives and friends. Predeceased by her husband, John, grand-daughter, Holly, and son in law, Herb Willmott. Funeral service was held on Thursday, July 15, at 2:00 pm from Christ Anglican Church in Milltown with Rev. PICCO, Austin

Passed peacefully away at home in Botwood, on Wednesday July 21, 2010. Austin Ralph Picco (CD2), at the age of 78, a proud member of the Canadian Forces of 42 years. Serving with the Black Watch (RHR), Royal Canadian Regiment (RCR) and Canadian Rangers, being deployed to Wrel, Germany and veteran of two United Nations tours (Cyprus). Life member of the Royal Canadian Legion and an active member of the Army Cadet program. He proudly established a cadet unit in English Harbour West. Not only serving his country, but his community as a 22 year member of the Lions Club. He leaves to mourn with fond and loving memories his loving wife: Ivy; daughters: Mary (Bob Williams, St. John's, NL, Anna (Mike Ward), Lincoln, NB, Hazel (Cam Giles), Toronto, ON, Dee Dee, St. John's, NL, Dena (Shawn Drakes), St. John's, NL; 8 grandchildren and 4 great-grandchildren; loving sisters: Mary Watts, Trenton, ON, Hazel Churchill, Portugal Cove, NL, and brother: Tim (Mary), Silvin Lake, AB, as well as a large circle of nieces, nephews, relatives and friends. The funeral service was held on Sunday July 25 at 2:00 pm at St. Thomas Anglican Church, English Harbour West. Interment followed at the Anglican Cemetery, English Harbour West. Passed peacefully away at his home in Milltown on Monday, July 19, 2010, Mr. George Ambrose Pope, age 71 years, formerly of Stone's Cove, Fortune Bay. Leaving to mourn his loving family: wife, Marjorie; son, Terry (Lisa) at Milltown; two daughters, Pamela (Lawrence House) at Goulds and Lisa (Scott Willcott) at St. Alban's; two grandchildren, Jesse and Desiree Howse; an adopted sister, Dianne Scott (Sam) at Bay L'Argent plus a number of other relatives and friends. Predeceased by his parents, George and Effie Pope, and parents in law, Gordon and Bessie Hiscock. Funeral service will be held on Thursday, July 22, 2010, at 2:00 pm from Christ Anglican Church in Milltown with Rev. Roy Simms officiating.
