Passed suddenly away at his home in Gaultois on Friday, January 21, 2011, Mr. Harold Abbott, age 82 years. Leaving to mourn his loving family: four daughters, Annabelle (Thomas Simms) at Fortune, Beulah (Matthew Piercey) at Bridgewater, NS, Sharon (Sam Smith) at Saskatchewan and Bessie (Corwin Meade) at Gaultois; son, Wayne (Christine) at Sandyville; thirteen grandchildren and twenty great grandchildren; sister in law, Mrs. Abigail Kendall at Sandyville, plus a number of other relatives and friends. Predeceased by his wife, Alice; son, Berkley; parents, Henry and Bessie Abbott; step brothers, John, Maxwell and William; sister, Elizabeth Rose; step sisters, Winnifred and Martha. Funeral service was held from St. Luke's Anglican Church in Gaultois on Tuesday, January 25, 2011, at 11:00 am with Rev. Charles Harris officiating. It is with great sadness that the family of the late Joseph Cornish of St. Alban's, NL announce his passing at the Central Newfoundland Regional Health Centre, Grand Falls-Windsor, NL on Saturday January 1, 2011 at the age of 97. He leaves to mourn with fond and loving memories his daughters: Bessie Crant, St. Alban's, NL & Lorraine (Jerry Buck), Londo, ON; sons: James (Ann), St. Alban's with whom he resided, Walter (Jean), Toronto, ON, Elson (Lydia), Holyrood, NL, Hedley (Diane), Toronto, ON, Guy (Peggy), Milltown, NL; 25 grandchildren; 23 great-grandchildren; daughter in law: Evelyn Rose, Gaultois, NL, as well as a large circle of other nieces, nephews, relatives and friends. He was predeceased by his first wife: Emma (1967); second wife: Marie (1979); sons: Hubert, Frank & Edison; daughter: Lucy; one brother and five sisters. The funeral service was held on Tuesday January 4, 2011 at 2:30 pm at Christ Anglican Church, Milltown with Reverend Roy Simms officiating. Interment followed at the Anglican Cemetery, Head of Bay d'Espoir. Funeral Arrangements were entrusted to Hynes' Coast of Bays Funeral Home, St. Alban's.

Passed peacefully away at the North Haven Manor in Lewisporte on Tuesday, January 4, 2011, Mrs. Audrey Ingram, age 76 years of Milltown. Leaving to mourn her loving family: sons, Melvin (Pearl) at Milltown, Richard (Marie) at Cambridge Bay, NWT, Leroy at Milltown and Dale at Ottawa; daughters, Norma (Henry) at Port Aux Basques, Rose (Eric) at Torbay and Marie at Milltown; grandchildren, Pamela, Renee, Mark, Peter, Jeffery, Stephen and Elizabeth; plus a number of other relatives and friends. Predeceased by her husband, Alexander; sisters, Meta, Bessie and Millie; brother, Winston; grandchildren, Krista and Kevin; great grandson, Oliver. Funeral service was held on Friday, January 7, 2011, at 2:00 pm from Christ Anglican Church in Milltown with Rev. Roy Simms officiating. Interment followed at the Anglican Cemetery at Milltown. Passed suddenly away at the Connaigre Peninsula Health Care Centre in Harbour Breton on Sunday, January 2, 2011, Mrs. Ellen Mahoney, age 92 years of Harbour Breton. Leaving to mourn her loving family: sons, Daniel (Mildred) at Harbour Breton and Aiden (Ivy) at Stephenville; daughters, Rosalyn (Sam Barker) at Labrador City, Linda (John Moon) at Cookville, Tennessee, Helen (Elijah Skinner) at Isle Aux Morte and Paulette Stringer at Clarenville; adopted daughter, Salome (Jason Smith) at Harbour Breton; fifteen grandchildren and fifteen great grandchildren, plus a number of other relatives and friends. Predeceased by her husband, Daniel, and son, Lawrence. Funeral service was held on Wednesday, January 5, 2011, from St. Joseph's Roman Catholic Church in Harbour Breton with Father Tom Duffenais officiating. STOODLEY, Mary R. (Nee Lawrence)

Passed peacefully away on Monday, January 17, 2011, in the presence of her family at the Health Sciences Center, St. John's, Mary Stoodley, in her 81st year of St. Jacques. Predeceased by husband, Thomas (June, 2002). Left with fond and loving memories are her children; Roland (Ellie), Gerald (Beatrice), Silas, Samuel (Pauline), Edith (Melvin), Gerri (Vince) and Sheila (JR); 18 grandchildren; 20 great-grandchildren; sisters, Lucy, Dorothy and Effie; brother, Silas, and a large circle of extended family and friends especially sister in law, Burnsie Lawrence, lifetime friend and neighbor. Rested at St. Michaels and All Angels Anglican Church in St. Jacques. Funeral took place on Thursday, January 20, 2011, at 2:00 pm with interment following at the family plot in St. Michaels and All Angels cemetery.A special thank you to the doctors and nurses of the Dr. H. Bliss Murphy Cancer Center, St. John's Radiation Oncology Department, in particular Dr's Lear, O'Brien, Stuckless and Norman, Father John Courage and the wonderful and caring staff of 4NB and 4SB at the Health Sciences Center.In lieu of flowers, donations can be made in her memory to St. Michaels and All Angels Anglican Church or the Dr. H. STRICKLAND, Chesley John

STRICKLAND, John Chesley
- Passed away peacefully at the Health Science Centre, St. John's on January 5th, 2011, aged 80 years. Chesley was born in Milltown, Bay D'Espoir on September 25th, 1930, the son of the late John Robert Strickland and Hannah Grace Kearley. Throughout his life, he remained a proud Newfoundlander and was well known in the Bay D'Espoir area as the electrician and local "Handy Man", always on call to fix just about anything that needed to be fixed. He will be sadly missed by his daughter: Marjorie (Barry Boutilier) and his son: John (Jo-Ellen); his grandchildren: Nicole Boutilier, Michael and Laura Strickland. He is survived by his sisters: Myrtle Coombs, Cora Kendell and Marjorie King (Albert); brother: Gerald Strickland (Bertha); sister-in-law: Margaret Strickland. He is predeceased by his brother: Hubert Strickland; brothers-in-law: Charlie Coombs and Tom Kendell. He was also known to several nieces and nephews as Uncle Chee. Special thanks to the Doctors and Nurses at the Grand Falls Hospital and Life Sciences Hospital, St. John's, for providing wonderful care. Very special thanks to his niece Beverley Snook and Rosemary Durnford for always being there to help out when needed - they were truly Dad's special guardian angels and I know he treasured them both dearly. Cremation has taken place at Caul's Funeral Home, LeMarchant Road, St. John's. Funeral Service will take place on Monday, January 10th, 2011 at 2 p.m. at Christ Church in Milltown, Bay D'Espoir, officiated by Rev. Roy Simms. Interment to follow at the Anglican Cemetery in Milltown, Bay D'Espoir. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the Bay D'Espoir Cancer Benefit.
