Passed peacefully away at the Central Newfoundland Health Care Center in Grand Falls-Windsor on August 20, 2009, Mrs. Mary Agnes Hinks, age 77 years of Conne River. Leaving to mourn her loving family: common law spouse, James Cribb, fifteen children: Harriett (Ford), Pat (Mary), Fred (Maureen), Veronica (Randy), Ross (Paula), Cora (Bill), Walleen (Joan), Loretta (Roger), Darrell (Kim), Levi (Delores), Dennis (Gerarda) all at Conne River, Juanita (Steve) at Ottawa, Mary (Gary) at Montreal, Maria (Rick) at Timmins, Ont., Peggy (Claude) at Ottawa; 37 grandchildren, 14 great grandchildren, 1 great great grandchild, 4 brothers: Levi Stride (Shirley), John Stride (Linda), Brandon Stride (Margaret) and Paul Stride (Vida) all at Conne River, plus a number of other relatives and friends. Predeceased by her husband, Levi, son, Andrew, daughter, Elizabeth; two brothers, Gerald and Peter; two sisters, Rose and Rita, and parents, Abraham and Rita. Funeral service to be held on Tuesday, August 25, 2009 at 2:00 pm from the Gymnasium in Conne River with Father Don officiating. Interment to follow at St. Anne's Roman Catholic Cemetery, Conne River. Funeral arrangements entrusted to the care of Spencer's Funeral Home.

KING, Bertha Rose
Date of Birth: January 28, 1922
Date of Death: August 31, 2009
Age: 87
Location Milltown, Newfoundland and Labrador, Canada

Passed peacefully away at Grand Falls-Windsor on August 31, 2009, Mrs. Bertha Rose King, age 87 years of Milltown. Leaving to mourn her loving family-- six children; Robert (Marlene) at Conne River, Dorothy (Harry), Ken (Violet), Eric (Genevieve) all at Milltown, Harvey (Jackie) at Ste. Sault Marie, Ont., and Abigail (Gerard) at Milltown; fourteen grandchildren and eleven great grandchildren plus a number of other relatives and friends. Predeceased by her parents, husband, Elias, on May 29, 1979, daughter-in-law, Charlotte, on September 17, 1996 and her two sisters and two brothers. Funeral service will be held on Wednesday, September 2 at 2:00 pm from Christ Anglican Church in Milltown with Rev. Roy Simms officiating. Interment to follow at the Anglican Cemetery in Milltown. Funeral arrangements entrusted to the care of Spencer's Funeral Home.

SNOOK, Archibald

Passed peacefully away after a courageous battle with cancer on Thursday, August 13, 2009, Mr. Archibald Snook, age 58 years, of Harbour Breton. Leaving to mourn his loving family; wife, Margaret, two sons; Archie (wife, Tara) at Alberta and Don (wife, Nancy) at Harbour Breton, three daughters; Laura (Derek), Tracy (Ed) all at Harbour Breton and Wanda (Freeman) at Hermitage, nine grandchildren and one great-grandchild, three brothers; Ambrose (Bessie), Levi (Daphene) all at Harbour Breton and Ronald at Ontario, three sisters; Winnie (Brent), Margaret (Jim) and Roberta all at New Brunswick, plus a number of other relatives and friends. Predeceased by his parents Ambrose and Elsie Snook. Funeral service will be held on Saturday, August 15, 2009, at 2:00 pm from St. Bartholomew's Anglican Church in Harbour Breton with Rev. Roy Simms officiating. Interment to follow at the Anglican Cemetery, Harbour Breton. Funeral arrangements entrusted to the care of Spencer's funeral Home.

WHELAN, Margurite Rita
Date of Birth: November 26, 1920
Date of Death: August 09, 2009
Age: 88
Location St Jacques, Newfoundland and Labrador, Canada
Passed peacefully away at the Carmelite House in Grand Falls Windsor on Sunday, August 9, 2009, Ms. Margurite Rita Whelan of St Jacques in her 88th year. Leaving to mourn her loving family; three brothers, Felix (Violet) at Stephenville, Walter (Margaret) at St Jacques and Kenneth (Wendy) at Main-a-Dieu, NS; eighteen nieces and nephews including one special son-like, Brian Whelan (Sharlyn) at St Jacques plus a number of other relatives and friends. Predeceased by her parents Elizabeth (Vaters) and Jerome Whelan, brother, Leo James, and sister, Sarah and nephew, Aloyusius. Ms. Whelan worked for a number of years at J Petites and Sons Limited, English Harbour West, and later for St Jacques Coombs Cove Council. Funeral service will be held on Tuesday, August 11, 2009 at 2:00 pm from Sacred Heart Roman Catholic Church in St Jacques with Father Tom Duffenais officiating. Interment to follow at the Roman Catholic Cemetery in St Jacques. Funeral arrangements entrusted to the care of Spencers Funeral Home.
