Predeceased by her husband Charlie in 1988. O'DRISCOLL, Ruth Isobel - Passed away peacefully at her home in Victoria, B.C. on March 2, 1994 in her 79th year. "The happy and proud member of a family of eight". An active and long time resident of St. John's, she was born in Calgary, Alberta, and graduated with honours as a registered nurse in 1938 from the Sisters of Mercy Holy Cross Hospital. She worked overseas during World War II with the Royal Canadian Army Medical Nursing Services and was stationed in Baraquanath, South Africa, where she nursed and fell in love with her husband Donald J. They celebrated their 50th wedding anniversary on October 22, 1993. An avid sportswoman with a creative fun loving flare, she enjoyed golf, curling, shooting, riding, fishing, painting, carving, reading and the occasional game of "growl". She was a volunteer for the 909 Soup Kitchen at the St. Andrew's Cathedral in Victoria. She is survived by her husband Donald; six children: Phyllis DiNovo (John) in Toronto, Ontario, Wendy English (David) in Victoria, B.C., Paul (Kathleen), Moncton, N.B., Mark (Paula), Chris (Donna), John in Vancouver, B.C.; 13 grandchildren; step-mother Margaret Turnbull; sister Betty England; brother Hardy Turnbull (Valerie); and sister Billy Webb (Doug). A Memorial Service will be held Monday, March 7 at 12:10 a.m. at St. Andrew's Cathedral, Victoria, B.C.
