MURPHY - Passed peacefully away March 5th, at St. Clare's Mercy Hospital, Agnes Murphy, aged 83, widow of William Collins and the late John Murphy. Leaving to mourn six daughters, Mrs. Ruth Gillian at Portland, Maine, Mrs. Beatrice Carew, St. John's, Mrs. Julia Walsh, St. John's, Miss Tess Collins, St. John's, Mrs. Cecilia Malencia at Chicago, Elizabeth Ann (Mrs. Noel Iverson) at Fredericton; two sons, Edmund Joseph and Adrian Collins; one sister, Rose Power; one brother Anthony Power, both at Branch; also a large number of great-grandchildren and grandchildren, and other relatives and friends. Funeral on Thursday from Caul's Funeral Home t the Basilica for mass at 9:30 a.m. Interment at Holy Sepulchre Cemetery. - Murphy, Agnes (nee Power)(Collins) 5 March 1979.

MURPHY, Agnes (Aggie) - Of Calvert. Passed peacefully away at the Health Sciences Complex on Monday, September 3, 1990 after a courageous battle with cancer, age 63 years. Leaving to mourn her loving husband Bernard. Three daughters: Marilyn Healey (husband Glenn) of Witless Bay, Lorraine King (husband Kevin) of Mount Pearl, Carol Ann at home; three sons: David and wife Betty at St. John's, Wally and wife Sharon at St. John's, Tim and wife Patricia at Mount Pearl; six grandchildren and a large circle of relatives and friends. Predeceased by daughter Lorraine in 1965. Resting at Fahey's Funeral Home, Fermeuse. Funeral Mass from Immaculate Conception Church, Calvert on Wednesday, September 5 at 11:00 a.m. Interment at R.C. Dear brother of Cecilia (Gordon) Brothers of Long Harbour; Bridget (Gerard) Keating of St. John's, Yvonne (Donald) Whitty of New Brunswick, Terrence (Betty) Murphy of Alberta, Gerard (Vivian) Murphy of Ontario; Dennis (Debbie) Murphy, Colin Murphy and Richard Murphy, all of Alberta. Private family visitation and funeral service will be held on Thursday evening at the Cassidy Funeral Home, Tweed, Ont. While at London University, as an outstanding athlete she was selected to try out of the 1936 Olympic Games. Since coming to Newfoundland at the end of the war in 1945 she became very active in community affairs and served in many capacities particularly Red Cross, Girl Guides, Beta Sigma Phi, Western Memorial Regional Hospital Auxiliary, and the Amateur Players.
