MADDEN, Beverley - Passed away at St. Clare's Mercy Hospital after a valiant struggle with Systemic Lupus on February 3, 1989. Beverley (Goodland) Madden, age 36 years. Leaving to mourn her loving husband Dennis; one daughter Danielle; her mother Theresa Goodland; two sisters: Madonna (husband David Bursey) of St. John's, Sharon (husband Steve Coughlin) of Toronto; one brother Gerard (wife Cathy) of Dartmouth, N.S.; two uncles: Rev. Brother M.C. Goodland of Corner Brook and Harry (wife Hilda) of Corner Brook, as well as a large circle of other relatives and friends. Remains resting at Caul's Funeral Home, LeMarchant Road. MADDEN, Mary (nee Connors) - Passed peacefully away at the Grace General Hospital after a lengthy illness. Leaving to mourn her passing, husband Charles, children Patrick, Brendan (Thomasine), Charles, Mary (Mrs. Jacques Bedard), Dennis and Catherine, eight grandchildren; six great-grandchildren; extended family in Pouch Cove, and a large circle of friends at Ricketts Manor and throughout St. John's. Special thanks to the personnel at St. Luke's Daycare program, the Seniors' Resource Centre and doctors, nurses and staff at the Grace. Particular appreciation is expressed by son Charles to Marilyn Tessier, Head Nurse, 6th Floor, Grace Hospital and to Sandra Davis at St. John's Community Health for their invaluable support, kindness and understanding. Predeceased by his wife Millie; and his son Michael; also his only sister Uriel Ryan; brothers: Arthur and Alfred Maher; all of Aquaforte. Leaving to mourn his three daughters: Dr. Eileen Maher, Dr. Rosemary Maher, Kathleen Riachi; and son Kevin; his brother Gerard Maher (Mercedes), St. John's; sisters-in-law: Bride and Irene Maher; a very special brother-in-law, Peter Jack Ryan, all at Aquaforte. Leaving to mourn his wife Mary (nee McDonald); three daughters: Donna Thistle (Ed), Ann Young (Gordon) and Patricia Martin; four special grandchildren: Victoria Thistle, Jennifer Martin, Christopher and Amanda Young; one sister: Gertrude Martin; also a number of nieces, nephews and other relatives and friends. MARTIN, Victoria M. (1905-1993) - Entered into rest at St. Luke's Anglican Homes on June 16, 1993 Victoria M. Martin, in her 89th year. Leaving with fond and loving memories brother Eric and wife Margaret of Clarenville; nephew Robert and wife Rexine; great-niece Jodi Anne; great-nephew Joel, all of Pasadena; sister-in-law Stella Martin (brother Reginald predeceased in 1991); nieces Sylvia Anthony and husband Gordon D.D.S., Regina Mercer and husband David, Dorothy Warr and husband Donald C.A., all of St. John's; special long standing friends Ruby Harnett R.N. and Gwen Skeans, both of St. John's; her friends and associates at Maplewood Apts., Shaw Street; her co-residents of St. Luke's Anglican Homes and the very caring and efficient staff there, all of whom deserve thanks and gratitude for making her latter years and days pleasant and comfortable. Stewart (Stu) - At the Salvation Army Grace General Hospital, in the loving presence of his family on Monday December 9, 1991 in his 54th year, Stu, after a short courageous fight with cancer departed this life. Predeceased by infant sons Scott and Stewart. He will be lovingly missed by his beloved wife Janet; children: Geoffrey, Andree and Nicholle; mother Edna Blundell; brother Herb; sisters: Eileen Blundell, Joyce Leewe, Marie Blackmore; step-brothers: Eric, Aubrey and Ted Blundell; mother-in-law Bessie Chafe; sisters-in-law: Barbara Howlett, Sonia Leaman, and Ina Chafe-Kearley; family and friends. Resting at Barrett's Funeral Home, 328 Hamilton Avenue until 12 noon Thursday. Predeceased by his wife Mary (Nellie) in 1988 and brother Herbert in 1991. Leaving to mourn with fond and loving memories are his daughter Marie Walsh (Ron), grandson Gary of Hamilton, Ontario; sisters: Isabelle Anthony, Mary Sturge (Peter), Sarah Carter (Charles) of St. John's; sister-in-law Daisy Martin of Holyrood; long time friend Martin(Mark) Chafe (Catherine) and a number of nephews, nieces, other relatives and friends. Left to cherish his loving memories are his wife of 52 years, Marjorie; daughters: Linda Tucker (Mose), St. Philip's and Susan White (Jim), Torbay; his pride and joy, all his grandchildren: Mark, Kelli (Stephen Quick) and Justin Tucker, Gina, Natalie and Dawn White; precious great-grandson Joshua Quick; sisters: Margaret Fundenburk (Roy), Olive Rooney (Joe), Texas, Mildred Harrison, California; special brother George Biddiscombe, Nova Scotia; special brother-in-law Gerry Fagan (Gertie); and a large circle of other relatives and friends. Special thanks to the nursing staff of the 6th floor Grace General Hospital and to his personal care attendants.
