To the best of my knowledge Taplins in NL originated in Holyrood descended from an English soldier. My grandmother's name was Elizabeth (Fardy) Fleming, not Mary. Mary was my father's stepmother. His mother Elizabeth died when he was eleven in 1926.
Her brother John "Jack" Taplin married her husband's sister Constance "Connie" Fleming.
