Predeceased by husband Martin Cahill, Bell Island, daughter Delores, parents Johanna & Arthur Carew, Cape Broyle, brothers Henry, Austin, Jimmy, Louis and sisters Margaret Power, Mary Stanford, Lena Youden and Clara Carew. Leaving to mourn six daughters: Regina (Larry) Warren, Corner Brook and special grandchild Laurina: Judy (Eugene) Melay, St. John's and grandchildren Glenn, Paula, Shelley, Catherine (John Falmon)Jackman, Kitchener, Ont., and grandchildren Johnny, Stephen, Regina; Marie Hibbs, St. John's and grandchild Deanna; Theresa (Frank) Edwards, Burin and grandchildren Maura, Jeremy, Damlen, Annette, Mark, Dolores, Erin, Josephine (Peter) Murphy, Sarnia, Ont., and grandchildren Peter Jr., Wendy, Dwayne, Christopher, Clairerista: one son, Francis (Sheila) Cahill, Ft. Predeceased by his wife Annie; his son Michael; his sister Eliza; his brothers: Leo and Stephen. CANTWELL, George Clarke - 24 Gower Road, Georgetown, Ontario. Died March 25 in Barbados. Born November 23, 1919, at Brigus, Nfld., he was the son of William and Aseneth Clarke. Until 1966 he resided on Bell Island. Surviving are his wife Martha (Petrie); his sons: Blair and his wife Mary of Grand Cache, Alberta, Bill and his wife Monica, Georgetown, Ontario; his daughters: Judy at Stephenville, Nfld., Gail and Jack Ern, Mils, Ontario, Ellen and Greg, Winnipeg, Manitoba. Loving grandfather of eight grandchildren and brother of Elizabeth Mahoney of New Jersey. - CANTWELL, GEORGE CLARKE 25 Mar

CANTWELL, Joseph Francis- M.D.C.M. 75 (1916-1991). Kingston, Ontario. Formerly of Halifax, died peacefully at home May 23/91. Born in Brigus, Nfld., son of the late Joseph Francis and Mary Margaret (Walker) Cantwell. Graduated Dalhousie School of Medicine, Class of 1949 and practiced in Halifax until his retirement in 1978. He was involved in sports medicine with the Halifax Junior Canadians Hockey Team. The Nova Scotia Boxing Authority. As well he was the first elected president of the Canadian Academy of Sports Medicine and the Medical Director of the first Canada Summer Games, 1969. Survived by his wife Geraldine (Cole); one daughter, Pixie (Mrs. Michael Bury); two sons: Jeff (Wolfville), Gedd (Calgary); one brother, Jim (Medicine Hat, Alta.); three sisters: Laura Blackmore (Grand Falls), Mena Ryan and Eileen Stanbury- (St. John's); seven grandchildren. CANTWELL, Margaret (nee Sweeney)- Age 59 years, formerly of Bell Island. Passed away suddenly at her home in Toronto on June 12, 1994. CHAFE, David Boyd - Born November 8th, 1937 in Petty Harbour, Newfoundland and died peacefully at home in Hamilton, Ontario on August 1st, 1993 after a long fight with cancer. He is survived by his wife Janet, his children Leslie (adopted), Paul and Andrea, his grandchildren Molly and Christian and his brothers and sisters, Gwen, Reg, Beryl, Ruth, Clyde, Doug, Linda and Peggy. He will be sorely missed by his family and by friends, students and colleagues around the world. In Rotary he helped handicapped children and worked toward international co-operation. He worked in the Mundialization Society and in Boy Scouts. He loved nature, he loved learning and he loved life. He had a kind, strong, gentle nature and was always generous, witty and patient. He gave throughout his life. CHRISTOPHER, Lucy - Died on July 24, 1996, in the Halifax Infirmary, Lucy Christopher of Halifax, born in Gaskiers, St. Mary's Bay. She was the daughter of the late Michael and Mary (Tobin) Kielly. She moved to Halifax in 1967 and worked at the Halifax Infirmary. She was a member of St. Teresa's parish, Halifax. She was predeceased by her husband James Gerald; two sisters and one brother. She is survived by a daughter Darlene (Shawn Kehoe) of Berwick, N.S.; son Allister of Toronto; sister Gertrude (Mike Meehan) of Point Lahaye, St. Mary's Bay, and brother Tom of St. John's, as well as a number of nieces, nephews, and other relatives and friends. Resting at Barrett's Funeral Home, 328 Hamilton Ave. from 7-9 p.m. Saturday and 2-4 p.m. and 7-9 p.m. Sunday. Funeral mass 9:30 a.m. Monday, July 29, 1996 from the Basilica. Leaving to mourn with fond and loving memories, seven daughters: Margaret at Galt, Ont., Sister Philomena at Presentation Convent, Ita (Ed Bonia) at St. Mary's, Agnes (Eymard Stack) at St. John's, Cecilia (Gus Lecoure) at Black Duck Brook, Elizabeth (Leo White) at Kitchener, Ont., Mary (Bill White) at Manuels (with whom she resided); two sons: John (Margaret) at Wabush, Joe (Louise) at Clarksburg, Ont.; two daughters-in-law Mary Christopher at Mall Bay and Frances Christopher at St. John's, son-in-law Leo Hickey at Hamilton, Ont.; special granddaughter Judy (Allan Gibbons) at St. Thomas; 44 grandchildren and 65 great-grandchildren; also other relatives and friends. Left to mourn, the Presentation Sisters and her loving family: six sisters: Margaret McGrath (Michael, deceased), ItaBonia (Ed), Agnes Stack (Eymard), Cecilia LaCour (Gus), Elizabeth White (Leo), Mary White (Bill); two brothers: John (Marg), Joseph (Louise); and a large number of nieces and nephews and other relatives and friends.
