COLSON, Linda - 63yrs

It is with the heaviest of hearts that we announce the passing of Linda Colson, age 63, on Wednesday, May 1, 2019 at the Palliative Care unit of the Cape Breton Regional Hospital, Sydney, after a short battle with cancer, with her loving family at her side. Born on May 20, 1955 in Shallop Cove, Newfoundland, Linda was the daughter of the late Leslie and Viola Colson. Linda is survived by her children, Charlene, Michael, Robert, Patrick and Anita; eight grandchildren; seven brothers; five sisters; as well as many nieces and nephews. She will be dearly missed. Visitation and memorial service to celebrate the life of Linda Colson will be held at Pier Community Funeral Home, All Faith Chapel, 1092 Victoria Rd. (entrance on Church Street) on Monday, May 6, 2019. A gathering of family and friends will take place from 5 - 6 p.m. with service to follow at 6 p.m. in the chapel. Private family interment will take place in Forest Haven Memorial Gardens, Sydney at a later date. Donations in memory of Linda may be made to the Cape Breton Cancer Care Centre or the Hospice Palliative Care Society of Cape Breton. DREW, Eric Joseph - 55yrs

We, the family of Eric Joseph Drew, regret to announce his passing on Wednesday, May 15, 2019. Eric passed away at home after a courageous battle with cancer. Born October 28, 1963, in Harbour Breton, NL, he was the son of the late Gord and Effie (Bowles) Drew. Eric was formerly employed with National Sea, Louisbourg, where he worked on the draggers. Besides his parents, he was predeceased by his brother, Harry. Eric is survived by his wife, Susan Gillespie; stepdaughters, Laura Martell, South Bar and Ashley Gillespie, Sydney; sister, Daisy Ferguson (Graham), Louisbourg; brothers, Eddie Bowles, Louisbourg, Craig Drew (Yanti), London and Terrance Drew, Louisbourg; grandchildren, Mason, Stephen, and Dawston; great-grandchild, Cullen; nieces, nephews and cousins. Visitation will take place at St. Bartholomew's Church, Louisbourg on Monday, May 20 from 2-3 p.m., following by a service at 3 p.m., with Rev. Peter Rafuse officiating. Interment in St. Bartholomew's Cemetery. Memorials may be made to the Cancer Unit at the Cape Breton Regional Hospital. NICHOLLS, John F. Nicholls - 84yrs

It is with heavy hearts we the family announce the passing of a devoted husband, son, brother and uncle, John Nicholl. At the age of 84, John passed away at the Glace Bay Hospital on May 3, 2019. Born in Carbonear, Newfoundland, John was the son of the late John and Roney Nicholl. Johnny was a carpenter by trade and was a member of the local carpenters union. He took great pride in his work and had a strong work ethic. He always paid attention to detail and quality to whatever he laid his hands to. Besides working locally, Johnny worked in Greenland and Labrador. Johnny was a quiet, soft spoken, gentle man who had a special love for the outdoors. He loved to garden and to look after wildlife especially his much-loved rescue cat, Puppy.

Johnny is survived by his loving wife of 51 years, Joan (McIntyre). He is also survived by his brothers, Alex and Hayward; his sister, Jean (Walsh), and several nieces and nephews, all of who live throughout Newfoundland, Ontario and Alberta. He is also survived by his very special cousins, Dorothy and Mary Lou MacDougall. Besides his parents, Johnny is predeceased by his brothers, Albert, Francis, Charl and two brothers who died in infancy, and by his sisters, Annie (Collett) and Louise (Parroit). We wish to thank the staff of 3 East, Glace Bay Hospital for their professionalism, kindness and compassion. We also wish to thank T.J. Tracey's Burial Specialists of Glace Bay for their professionalism, gentleness and compassion during this difficult time. POPE, Harold - 88yrs

It is with heavy hearts that we announce the passing of our dear father, brother, uncle and friend, Harold Pope, age 88, on Thursday, May 2, 2019, at home. Born in Stone's Cove, Fortune Bay, NL, he was the son of the late Parmenas and Irene Pope. Harold worked with CN and later Marine Atlantic in North Sydney for over 40 years, retiring as Senior Engineer from the MV Joseph and Clara Smallwood in 1990. He was a member of St. John the Baptist Anglican Church in North Sydney, a member of the Marine Atlantic Pensioners Association and a former member of the Northern Yacht Club. Prior to his illness, Harold enjoyed working in his yard, meeting with friends for coffee at Tim Hortons and playing Newfoundland music on his accordion.

Harold is survived by his two daughters, Brenda and Charmaine, both of Sydney Mines; three brothers, Cyril Pope, Mount Pearl, NL, Don (Carrie) Pope, Conception Bay South, NL, Warren Berkley (Phyllis) Pope, Labrador City, NL; sister-in-law, Fanny (Glenn) Knott, North Sydney and several nieces and nephews. He was predeceased by his wife, Laura and sister, Effie Hatch.

Visitation for Harold will be 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m. Sunday, in the W.J. Dooley Funeral Home, 107 Pleasant St., North Sydney. A funeral service will be held 3 p.m. Monday, at St. John the Baptist Anglican Church, North Sydney with Rev. Julio Martin officiating. Burial will follow in Lakeside Cemetery, North Sydney. Memorial donations may be made to St. John the Baptist Anglican Church or any charity. Online condolences may be sent to the family at www.wjdooley.com
