ANDERSON, Felix Robert - 78yrs

It is with deep sorrow that we, the family announce the passing of Felix (Pickles) Anderson, 78, on June 4, 2019 in the Cape Breton Regional Hospital surrounded by his loving family. Born April 30, 1941 in South Branch, Nl, he was a son of Elizabeth McNeil. Felix was employed with TJ Hardy Fish Plant and his hard work ethic was always recognized by his employer. Felix was a fun loving soul who enjoyed playing his guitar at family and friends gatherings. He was a caring and loving man and will be missed by all who knew him.

Besides his adoring mother, he is survived by his loving partner, Ann Lamson; son, Robert; daughters, Tracey (Michael), Susan (Sandy), Cathy (Arno); sisters, Florence (late Ronald), Dorothy (late John), Veronica (Tom), Carmel; brothers, Gerry (Helen), Martin (Violet); six grandchildren; three great grandchildren; as well as many nieces and nephews. He was predeceased by a brother, Roddie.

Felix will be laid to rest at Sylvester's Cemetery, South Branch, Nl at a later date A special thank you to the VON, CCU, Continuing Home-care and the Palliative Care Units of the Cape Breton Regional Hospital. Arrangements are under the direction of Forest Haven Memorial Gardens.

MARSH (Oliver), Josephine - 101yrs

MARSH, Josephine (Oliver) New Waterford

It is with great sadness the family wish to announce the passing of their mother, sister, grandmother and great-great-grandmother, Josephine Marsh at the age of 101 on Sunday, June 16, 2019 at home, surrounded by her loving family. Born April 21, 1918 in Conception Bay, Newfoundland, she was the daughter of the late Bernie and Ann (Doyle) Oliver.

In her younger days, Josephine was a very hard working homemaker, enjoying cooking and baking for her family, she loved a good game of cards, going out to the casino and scratch tickets, her family and grandchildren meant everything to her, especially granddaughter, Tanya (Brent) MacEachern and great-great-grandchildren, Gracie and Olivia, whom she resided with and was well taken care of by them. Josephine is survived by daughters, Debbie (Jim) Quigley), Nora (Lawrence) Gillis and son, Brian Marsh; loving sister, Marge Rose; grandchildren, Michelle (Joey) Doyle, Lindsay (Paul) Ford, David (Sharon Ann) Gillis, Melissa (Glen) MacLean, John Michael Campbell; Stephanie and Savannah Marsh; great-great-grandchildren, Gracie, Olivia, Hope, Hunter, Blake, Stella, Scarlett, Luke and Ben. Besides her parents, she was also predeceased by her husband, Walter; daughter, Carol Ann Campbell; brothers, Peter, Gussie, Nipper, Buuny, Willie O and sister, Genny McPherson. Cremation has taken place and there will be no visitation. A graveside service will be held Wednesday, June 19th at 11 a.m. in St. Joseph Cemetery, Lingan, NS with Fr. Ray Huntley officiating.


NEWBURY (Greene), Sandra Elizabeth - 64yrs

Sandra Elizabeth Newbury
, 64 most recently of Sydney but very much a citizen of the world, passed away Monday June 24, 2019 at the Cape Breton Regional Hospital. A proud Newfoundlander from Fogo proper on Fogo Island, she was the daughter of the late Arthur and Stella (Pope) Greene. She was also predeceased by her father-in-law, Neil Newbury and brother-in-law, Carl Winter. Sandra is survived by her devoted husband, David; sons, John CBS & Jason (Ashlee) Halifax; step-son, Michael, Victoria BC; sister, Linda (Woodrow) Green, Port Aux Basque; brothers, Calvin (Doreen), Sandringham NL, Arnold (Marjorie), St. Johns NL, Bob (Phyllis) Fogo, NL, John (Gen) Fogo, NL; aunts, Leora (Frank) Mahaney, Halifax, NS, Yvonne (Tom) Osmond, St. Johns, NL; mother-in-law, Jessie Newbury, Clarenville, NL; sister-in-law, Debbie Winter, Clarenville, NL; brother-in-law, Daniel (Rhonda) Newbury, Halifax, NS; and her many nieces and nephews all of whom she loved so dearly.

Sandra spent her working life in the service of others first at the Waterford Hospital then at Mill Lane in St. Johns, NL. After moving to Cape Breton Sandra worked at the Harbourview Hospital where her career path shifted from Psychiatric care to Physiotherapy. Sandra loved her co-workers and they loved her. She was a compassionate nurse with a strong work ethic & enough common sense to make a difference in the lives of those around her. Above all else Sandra was a proud, fiercely protective, loving Mom & an amazing friend & life partner. Sandra loved adventure & she enjoyed a glass of red wine while watching the sunset over oceans from the Caribbean to the Mediterranean & all the way back to the East Coast. Her life will be celebrated at a future time to be announced and in the place of her choosing. Memorials may be made to Charity of Choice.
