Please join us for a celebration of Jane's life on Saturday, May 21, 11 a.m. at S.W. Chant & Son Funeral Home, 564 Alexandra St., Sydney. Jane was born in Port aux Basques, Newfoundland in 1944 to the late Michael and Blanch (Musseau) Seymour. Jane came to Cape Breton; met Earl and the rest is history. They made their home in Huntington where they enjoyed retirement. Jane was an active member of the community volunteering her time at Two Rivers Wild Life Park. She loved to be Mrs. Clause and Fright Night was one of the highlights of the season. She ran the park canteen for four years and loved it.

Jane is survived by her husband of 52 years Earl; sons, Richard (Judy) and Keith (Mary Lynn); grandsons, Mitchell, Liam and Jake; brothers, Charles (Irene), Bert (Colleen), Leonard, Donald (Geneva), Raymond, Llewellyn (Debbie), Gordon (Sherry), David (Jeanie); sisters, Phyllis Osmond, Margaret Hodgson (John), Vera Penny, Eileen Sampson, Pearl Barron and Bobby, as well as many nieces, nephews and good friends. Jane was predeceased by her parents, twin sister at birth, infant sister Violet and brothers, Michael, Gary and Percy. Family flowers only; donations in Jane's memory may be made to Two Rivers Wild Life Park.


TAVENER, Beatrice

Taverner Beatrice
, age 88 of Red Deer, Alta., passed away Tuesday, May 31, 2016, at the Bethany College Circle, Red Deer. Born in Harbour Mill, Nfld., on June 24, 1927, she was the daughter of the late Loven and Margaret Barnes. Beatrice spent most of her adult life in Port aux Basques, Nfld., but from 1992-2004 she lived in North Sydney, N.S., and in 2010 moved to Red Deer. She is survived by daughters, Linda (Bud) Bennett, Jocelyn (Mike) Graves, Celeste (Bruce) Stoddart, LuAnn (Lloyd) Sheaves, Lesley Musseau, Beatrice Taverner, and son, Benjamin Taverner; sister, Rhoda, and brothers, William (Maye) and Roland (Ethel). She was deceased by her husband of 56 years, Arthur; sisters, Helen (Andrew) Pardy, Clara (Eric) Pardy; and brother, Arthur (Dale). The family would like to thank the staff at the Bethany College Circle for their respectful and loving care. There will be a service held in Port aux Basques followed by interment at the Anglican Cemetery at a later date. Funeral arrangements were in the care of Fillatre's Funeral Home, 134 Main St., Port aux Basques.
