It is with heavy hearts we announce the peaceful passing of our dear mother, grandmother, great grandmother, aunt and friend, Beatrice Anderson, age 86, formerly of Beacon Crescent, North Sydney, on Thursday, July 7, 2011 at the Northside Community Guest Home surrounded by her loving family and extended family. Born in Summerville, Newfoundland, she was the daughter of the late Charles and Esther (Compton) Humby. Beatrice was the last surviving member of her immediate family. She is survived by her loving daughters, Dulcie (Lyle) Eady, and Myrtle (Eddie) MacDougall, both of North Sydney; by her grandchildren, Janice (Leo) Forrest and their children, Kiana, Kendra, Lee, North Sydney; Kim (Arnie) Verschuren and their children, Alecia, Mitchell, North Sydney; Lawrence (Tracey) Eady and their children, Samantha, Madilyn, Dartmouth; Karen (Rock) Ferland and their children, Samuel, Jeremy, Jacob, Branden, St. Jean, PQ; and also by her many nieces and nephews. She was predeceased by her husband, Alexander Anderson; her grandson, Stephen MacDougall, Brother, Naaman Humby and sisters, Elsie Carter, Martha Fudge. Visitation for Beatrice will be 2 - 4 p.m. Monday in the W.J. Dooley Funeral Home, 107 Pleasant St., North Sydney, with her funeral service to follow at 4 p.m. in the funeral home chapel, with James Abbott officiating. Burial to follow in Lakeside Cemetery, North Sydney. In lieu of flowers memorial donations may be made to the Northside Community Guest Home "Complete the Dream Campaign" or the Canadian Diabetes Association. HEAD, Doris Ann

It is with sadness we regretfully announce the death of our mother, Doris Ann (Tremblett) Head, who passed away Saturday, July 23, 2011, at the Cape Breton Regional Hospital, Sydney. Born in Bonavista, N.L., Doris moved to Sydney in 1951 where she married and raised her family. Doris is survived by her husband, Melvin; daughters, Susan (Chuck Champion) and Janet; sons, Gary and Paul (Wendy), all from Sydney; sisters, Millicent Mercer, Newfoundland, and Doreen Whyte, Greenwood, N.S.; brother, Raymond, Newfoundland; as well as several grandchildren, great-grandchildren; and many nieces and nephews. Doris was predeceased by her parents and two sisters. There will be no visitation. Cremation has taken place. A memorial service in honour of the late Doris Ann Head will be held at the Pier Community Funeral Home, All Faith Chapel, 1092 Victoria Rd. (entrance on Church Street) on Wednesday, July 27, 2011, at 11 a.m. with Major Dan Roode officiating. Light refreshments will be served following the service in the reception area. A private family interment will take place in Eastmount Cemetery, Whitney Pier at a later date. In lieu of flowers, donations to honour Doris may be made to the Horizon Achievement Centre, Sydney. Robyn Deidre Martin
, 43, Shelburne, passed away at the Halifax Infirmary on July 19, 2011. Born in St. John's, Nfld., she was a daughter of David and Barbara (Martin) Dittler. Robyn enjoyed knitting and crocheting. She was an avid volunteer and did a lot of volunteer work at the Hillcrest Library. In her earlier years Robyn was a registered nurse at the North Wood Senior Citizens Home in Halifax. Besides her parents she is survived by her husband, Kevin; son, Robert; daughters Meghan and Katherine, all of Shelburne; brother, David (Susan), Sable River; nephew, Joshua and niece, Melanie; sister, Bonnie Dittler, Topeka, Kansas; mother in-law, Karen Martin Noland, Glace Bay; sister in-law, Cindy (Brent) MacDonald, Bedford; nephews, Liam and Neil. She was predeceased by her sister, Gretchen; father in-law, Bob Martin. Visitation will be Friday from 7-9 p.m. in H.M. Huskilson's Funeral Home, Shelburne where a memorial service will take place on Saturday at 2 p.m. with Rev. Ed Trevors officiating. Memorial donations may be made to the family, Heart and Stroke Foundation or the Palliative Care Room, Halifax Infirmary.
