Junior Graham
, 63, Whitney Pier - Junior Wycliff Graham, 63, of East Broadway, passed away at the Cape Breton Regional Hospital, Sydney, on Monday, Feb. 23, 2004. Born in Bishop Falls, Nfld., he was a son of the late John and Naomi (Brace) Graham. In 1995, Junior retired as foreman of the water department for the CBRM. He as a member of the South Bar Fire Department Dart League.

Surviving are his wife, Marilyn (Snow); daughters, Denise (Scott) MacLeod, Sydney, and Donna (Mike) Graham, Slave Lake, Alta.; sons, Stephen, Victoria, B.C., and Donald (Cara), South Bar; special daughters, Charmaine Stevens and Debbie Snow; sisters, Ethel Hutching and Joan Doyle, Bishop Falls, Nfld.; brothers, John and David, Sydney; and grandchildren, Michael, Tessa, Devon, Connor and Dylan. Junior was predeceased by sisters, Goldine, Shirl, Dorothy and Lucy, brothers, Wesley and Arthur John, and grandson, Dillon. Visitation will be held at Sydney Memorial Chapel, Wednesday, 2-4 and 7-9 p.m. A funeral service will be held in the chapel, Thursday at 11 a.m., with Pastor Hooper officiating. Condolences may be sent to the family at sydmemchapel.@ns.sympatico.ca


SIMMS, Jacob, 88

, 88, Glace Bay - We regret to announce the passing of Jacob Simms, 88, on Monday, Feb. 16, 2004, at the Glace Bay Health Care Complex, after a lengthy illness. Born in Pass Island, Nfld. in 1915, he was the son of the late Jacob and Alice (Piercy) Simms. Jacob was a veteran of the Second World War serving with the Cape Breton Highlanders. He was employed with Devco Railway before his retirement in 1970.

Jacob is survived by four children, Jakealine (Sandy) Meikle, Frances (Brian) Knight, Barbara (Walter) Dominie, Allister (Cathy) Moore; brother, John Simms. Also surviving are grandchildren, Paul Brian Knight, Christopher Todd Knight, Jean Anne Green, Sheila Meikle, Darlene Hicks and Stephen Moore; great-grandchildren, Alexandra Kathleen Marie Knight, Jenna Green, Christian and Nicholas Hicks. Jacob will also be sadly missed by nieces and nephews, Alexander "Sandy" Simms, Pamela Strub, Bert Simms, Mary Brown; sister-in-law, Jessie Coish. Besides his parents, he was predeceased by his first wife, Nora (Heron) Simms and his second wife, Emma (Nichols) Simms. At Jacob's request, there will be no visitation. Cremation has taken place under the direction of V.J. McGillivray Funeral Home, 16 Reserve St., Glace Bay. Funeral service will be held Friday, 11 a.m. at St. Mary's Anglican Church, Glace Bay. Rev'd Kirby Walsh will be officiating. Interment will be held at the Nichols Family Cemetery in Deer Lake, Nfld., at a later date. In lieu of flowers, donations in Jacob's memory may be made to the Canadian Cancer Society.
