Ambrose Billard, 60
- of Pierce St. died suddenly at his home, Tuesday, April 22nd, 2003. Born in Isle aux Morte, Nfld, he was a son of the late Ambrose and Julia Ann (Scott) Billard. He worked for a number of years on the Great Lake Boats. He was a member of St. John the Baptist Anglican Church. He is survived by his wife Emily Robinson Billard; son Jerry (Cathy), North Sydney; daughter Julie (Ken) Ingram, Newfoundland; five sisters, Harriet, Marilyn, Louise, Geraldine and Eileen, all of Newfoundland; four brothers, Levi, Lindsay, Clarence, Winter all of Newfoundland; six grandchildren, Jeri, Sasha, Travis, Kenneth, Kendall and Matthew. There will be no visitation by request. A funeral service will be held at 11:30 am. Thursday Apr.24, 2003 at St. John the Baptist Church, North Sydney with Archdeacon Reg MacDonald officiating. Funeral arrangements entrusted to W.J. Dooley Funeral Home, 107 Pleasant St. North Sydney.


BISHOP, Michael F. 79,

Michael Francis Bishop, 79
, a resident of Seaview Drive, North Sydney, passed away peacefully Monday, April 14, 2003, at the Cape Breton Regional Hospital, Sydney. Born in Point La Haye, Nfld., he was a son of the late Robert and Bridget (Walsh) Bishop. Michael worked at Sydney Steel Corp. in the mobile department, retiring in 1984 after 40 years service. He was a member of St. Joseph Church, North Sydney.

Surviving is his four sons, Michael (Cecilia), Joseph, Jerome (Sara), all of North Sydney, and Robert (Mary), Dartmouth; two daughters, Debbie MacDonald (Allan Jollimore), North Sydney, and Susan Bishop, Sydney; and by a special relative, Catherine Tobin, Newfoundland. Also by nine grandchildren, Mary Anne Parsons, Michael and Lisa Bishop, Jeff and Nicole MacDonald, Kyle, Jacky and Breanna Bishop and Jeremy Bishop; five great-grandchildren, Justin, Taylor, C.J., Hannah and Ryan. He was predeceased by his wife, Susanna (Crane) Bishop and brother Patrick Bishop. Visitation will be held from 2-4 and 7-9 p.m. Wednesday in the W.J. Dooley Funeral Home, 107 Pleasant St., North Sydney. A funeral service will be held 10 a.m. Thursday at St. Joseph Church with Rev. Tom MacNeil officiating. Burial to take place at Holy Cross Cemetery, North Sydney. Memorial donations may be made to the Heart and Stroke Foundation of Nova Scotia or to a charity of one's choice.


KENNEDY, Myra 80,

It is with great sadness we announce the passing of our beloved mother Myra Kennedy. Born in Lamaline, Nfld., she was the daughter of the late Alec and Elsie (Hillier) Crews. She was a very active member of her community, giving of her time to Sea Cadets, Search and Rescue, Little League, Home and School and she was a life member of the Ladies Auxiliary of the Royal Canadian Legion, Branch 62, Louisbourg. She was also a recipient of the Meritorious Service award.

She is survived by children, Mike (Nancy) Canavan, Fredericton, Roy (Audrey), Barrie, Ont., John (Diane), Halifax, Dan (Tina), Balls Creek, Faye (Gordon) Paige, Louisbourg, Phyllis (Richard) Drinkwater, Sydney, Elsie (Martin) Kennedy, Richmond, B.C., and Juanita (Jeff) MacKeigan, Sydney; special daughter-in-law, Linda Kennedy; four brothers, Lou, Skip, Gord and Russell, one sister, Shirley, 16 grandchildren and six great-grandchildren. Besides her loving husband, Tom, she is predeceased by son, Tom, two brothers, Alec, Bill, sisters, Mattie, Emma, Sue. Visitation will be held Sunday, April 13 from 2-4 and 7-9 p.m. at W.A. Chant Funeral Home, Main Street, Louisbourg, with funeral services to take place Monday, March 14 at 11 a.m. from Zion Presbyterian Church, Main Street, Louisbourg, with Capt. Bill Preston officiating. Interment in Lochend Cemetery Catalone, under the direction of W.A. Chant Funeral, Louisbourg.
We love you mom. You will be missed.
