Dorothy (Dot) Brunet
, 74, of Glace Bay, passed away on Monday, Nov. 22, 1999, peacefully at home. Born in Newfoundland, she was the daughter of the late Leo and Elizabeth (Moore) O'Neil. She is survived by daughters, Dorothy (Dan MacDonald), Rose (Bill Thomson), Liz MacDonald, Paula and Linda (Joe Matheson), special niece Glenda MacDonald, all of Glace Bay; sons, Patty (Margaret), George (Donna), Peter (Janet), all of Glace Bay, Tommy, at home. Also surviving are three sisters, Mary Hennesey, B.C., Lillian Hennesey, Ontario, Beth Noftall, Newfoundland; 19 grandchildren and one great-grandchild; several nieces and nephews. Predeceased by her husband, George Brunet, daughter, Elizabeth Rose in infancy, sister Madeline Tait and one brother, Paddy O'Neil. Visitation will take place Wednesday, Nov. 24 from 2-4, 7-9 p.m. at V.J. McGillivray Funeral Home, 16 Reserve St., Glace Bay. Funeral mass will be celebrated Thursday, Nov. 25 at 2 p.m. in St. Anne's Church, Glace Bay, with Fr. Doug Murphy officiating. Burial will be in the parish cemetery. Donations may be made to Palliative Care, VON or Canadian Cancer Society.

, 86, of Sydney, died peacefully Tuesday, Nov. 23, 1999, at the Cape Breton Regional Hospital, Sydney. Born at Whitney Pier, he was the son of the late Jerimiah and Catherine (Fahey) Snow. He was a member of St. Theresa's Parish. He was employed with Sydney Steel Corp. for 43 years and the last several years as blast furnace manager. He is survived by his wife, the former Jessie MacLean; one daughter, Della (John) Embregts, Markham, Ont., one son, John (Cathy), Halifax; one sister, Mary Stubinski, Ottawa; six grandchildren and one great-grandson. He was predeceased by one brother, John. The late Mr. Snow will have visitation Thursday from 2-4 and 7-9 p.m. at the T.W. Curry Parkview Chapel. Funeral mass will be held at 2 p.m. Friday in St. Theresa's Church with Fr. Angus MacDougall officiating. Interment in Resurrection Cemetery, Sydney Forks. Donations may be made to a charity of choice.

Julia Maude Hallett
, 96, of Taigh Na Mara and formerly of 11 Ling St., Glace Bay, died Thursday, Nov. 25, 1999, in the Glace Bay Health Care Complex. Born in Coomb's Cove, Nfld., she was the daughter of the late Samuel and Ellen (Drake) Fiander. Mrs. Hallett was a member of St. Mary's Anglican Church, Glace Bay. She was the last surviving member of her immediate family. She is survived by sons, Del, at home, Willard (Rose), Glace Bay, Arthur (Shirley), London, Ont.; daughters, Vivian (Mrs. John Sturgess), Calgary, Alta., Beulah (Mrs. Ronald Binks), Carol (Mrs. Glen Miller), both of Windsor, Ont., Frances (Mrs. Robert Gillis), Glace Bay; 29 grandchildren; 41 great-grandchildren; three great-great-grandchildren. Predeceased by her husband, George, daughter, Catherine, three sons, Melvin, Gordon, Percy, four brothers and two sisters. Visitation will be held today (Friday) from 7-9 p.m. and Saturday from 2-4 and 7-9 p.m. in the Patten Funeral Home and Chapel, 71 Union St., Glace Bay. Funeral service will be held Sunday, 2 p.m. in St. Mary's Anglican Church with the Rev. Fev Arnold officiating. Interment in St. Mary's Cemetery, Glace Bay.

Jean Rose
, 73, of Beaver Bank, formerly of North Sydney, died Wednesday, Nov. 24, 1999, in the Scotia Nursing Home. Born in Newfoundland, she was a daughter of the late Dennis and Martha (Lee) Benoit. She was loved by her family and will be sadly missed by all who knew her. Surviving are her brothers, Dennis (Nitchie), Mickey and Jimmy and sisters, Agnes, Theresa, Nora, Lile, Anna and Gloria and a great-nephew John Callahan of Dartmouth. She was predeceased by her husband, Ernest. A graveside service will be held Tuesday, 2 p.m. in Lakeside Cemetery, North Sydney. Donations may be made to a charity of your choice. Arrangements are entrusted to Atlantic Funeral Home, 125 Sackville Dr., Lower Sackville.

Genevieve (Jenny) Baldwin

Genevieve (Jenny) Baldwin
, 87 of 3786 St. Agnes Ave., died peacefully at the New Waterford Consolidated Hospital on November 27, 1999. Born in Newfoundland, she was the daughter of the late John and Selena Gaulton. She was a member of St. Agnes Parish and belonged to the St. Agnes CWL having received her 50 year pin three years ago. Mrs. Baldwin is survived by four daughters Norma McNeil (Paul), New Victoria, Lillian Fortier (Joe), Ottawa, Marlyn Perry (Don), Lingan, Selena Rose (Albert), New Waterford; also two sons, Thomas (Iris) and Jim (Alex), both of New Waterford. She was also survived by 17 grandchildren; 24 great-grandchildren and two great-great-grandchildren. Jenny is also survived by a brother Joe Gaulton (Lunenburg) and sisters Hanah McPhee and Teresa Webb of New Waterford; Lucy Speiths and Madonna Preeper both of California. She was predeceased by her husband of 58 years James and one son Myles; two sisters Sade and Margaret of Newfoundland. Visitation for the late Jenny Baldwin was held Sunday 7-9 p.m. and will be held Monday 2-4, 7-9 p.m. in V.J. McGillivray Funeral Home, 380 Smith Street, New Waterford, N.S. Funeral Mass will be celebrated Tuesday at 10 am at St. Agnes Parish with Father Bob Neville officiating. Burial in the parish cemetery.
