- 86, Sydney, from the Cove (39 Victoria Road, Sydney) Born in Heart's Content, Newfoundland, the daughter of Theodore & Edith Peers. She was a member of St Albain's Church. Survived by one daughter Mrs Marion (Charles) Nichols, one sister Barbara Simms, Sydney; one grandson & one great-granddaughter. She was predeceased by her husband George & sister Gladys. The body will be resting at Sydney Memorial Chapel Sydney, where the funeral will be held on Fri 2 p.m. with Rev. Brian Hutchings officiating. Interment will be made at Forest Haven Memorial Gardens . Memorial Donations may be made to charity.

, 73 - (70 Brook Street, North Sydney ) died Saturday 29 November 1986 at City Hospital Sydney. Born in Port Aux Basques, Newfoundland the daughter of Herbert & Louisa (Osmond) LeMoine. She was a member of St John's Anglican Church. Survived by three sons - Fred, James & William, all of North Sydney; five daughters - Mary (Mrs Johnston) Hastie, of Florence; Mrs Louise LeMoine & Mrs Sandra MacKinnon of North Sydney; Mrs Lucy (Cecil) Horton of Leitches Creek, & Mrs Gladys (Richard) Gillis of Dartmouth; 2 sisters - Mrs Lenora Wilson of North Sydney & Sarah of Sydney. 31 Grandchildren 38 Great-grandchildren. She was predeceased by husband Fred Connolly, one daughter Anne Marie, three brothers - George, Herbert & Garfield, three children and one great-grandchild. The body is resting at W.J. Dooley Funeral Home, North Sydney. Funeral service will be held at Tuesday 2 p.m. at St John's Anglican Church with Rev Ken Pike officiating. Interment at Lake Side Cemetery.

EVANS, James Gordon

69, Sydney Mines - died Saturday at Northside General Hospital. Born in North Sydney he was the son of the late Walter & Crissa (Curtis) Evans Nfld. A member of Carmen United Church he is survived by his wife Mary , three daughters Mrs Gloria Elliott, Ottawa , Ont; Norma, Mrs Gary Penny, North Sydney; Maureen, Mrs Joseph MacIntyre, Sydney Mines a sister Mrs Florence Osbourne and a brother Martin in Sydney Mines also by 7 grandchildren and a great-grandchild. He was predeceased by three sisters Lucy, Mary & Elsie and by a brother George. There will be no wake. The funeral service will be held today at 2 p.m. in Carmen United Church with Rev. Dianne MacVicar officiating. Interment under the direction of Fillmore & Whitman Funeral Home will be held in Brookside Cemetery. In lieu of flowers memorial donations to Carmen United Church.

, 73, Scotchtown, New Waterford -(19 Main Street, Scotchtown) died Wed at New Waterford Consolidated Hospital. Born in Codroy Valley Newfoundland he was the son of the late Isadore & Anne (MacInnis) Gale. He was a veteran of the Second World War and was employed until his retirement at the John Hinchey Grocery Store. He was a member of St. Michael's Parish . Survivors include his wife Betty (Roach) Gale , sons Benedict in Mississauga, Ont , Linus in New Waterford, Michael in Marion Bridge & daughter Mrs Lois (John) Baldwin , Brothers Arthur in Weston Ont., Aiden in Sydney, Matthew in Codroy and sisters Mrs Mary (Alexander) MacNeil, Mrs Loretta (Murray) Bauer, Rose in Sydney & six grandchildren. Five brothers Joseph , Thomas, Michael John, Isadore & a sister Margaret predeceased him. The body rests this evening after 7 p.m. at VJ MacGillivary Funeral Home 380 Smith Street. The Funeral Mass will be said Saturday at 10a.m. at St Michael's Church. Interment at the parish Cemetery. Contributions to a favourite charity are suggested as a memorial

, 81, Florence.- Shore Road, Florence died Tuesday at Northside General Hospital. Born in Channel Nfld, she was the daughter of the late James & Nellie (Keeping ) Young. She was a member of St Stephen's parish and was a life long member of the ladies auxillary Branch 83 Royal Canadian Legion . Surviving are four daughters Virginia, Mrs Douglas Hare, North Sydney; Bertha, Mrs Bernard Jessome, Sydney Mines; Mary, Mrs Murray Lanningan, Chester, NS; Cathy, Mrs Roy Read, Hastings, Ont.; five sons Theodore, Clevie, Robert all of Florence; Harold, Sydney Mines; Donald, Mississauga; a sister Selenia, Mrs Henry Stubbert , Florence; brothers William (Florence) in Florence; James in England; 37 grandchildren & 27 great-grandchildren . She was predeceased by her husband Chester three sons George, Joseph & James and three daughters Emmeline; Diane & Lillian; brother Jack; sisters: Catherine, & Fannie The body is resting at Filmore Whitmen funeral home . Funeral will be held Friday at 10 a.m. St Stephen's Church with Rev J Cote officiating. Interment will be at parish cemetery.

HUMMER, Elizabeth

, 87, Glace Bay - died in Gold River B.C. Friday. She had been ailing health for some time. Born in Conception Bay, she was the daughter of the late William & Jane Brown . Prior to moving to Gold River she had made her home in Tower Road for a number of years. Survivors include two sons, Wilson with whom she resided in Gold River and Bill Hummer, Birch Grove; one daughter Verena Mrs Joseph MacNeil, Stellarton, N.S. 11grandchildren & 7 great-grandchildren; one sister Mrs George Peddle, Glace Bay. Predeceased by husband Albert in1963 and by two brothers & four sisters. In faith she was an Anglican . Burial will take place in Guelph Ont.

- 66 of Florence N.S, (96 Shore Road, Florence) died suddenly Tuesday at Northside General Hospital. Born in North Sydney, the daughter of Samuel Stephen & Mary Jane (Keeping) Robinson. Residing in Florence most of her life she was a member of St Stephen's Parish. Survived by two daughters - Mrs Clara (Leroy) Pyke of Sydney Mines & Mrs Delores (Paul) Harding of Westmount ; two sons - Thomas of Florence & Stephen of North Sydney; six step-sisters Mrs Josephine (John) Smith & Mrs Theresa (Leonard ) Dolimont of North Sydney; Mrs Jean (Earl) Moore Sarnia Ontario; Mrs Frances (Dan) Devoe & Mrs Queenie (Charles) Reck of Toronto Ontario; Mrs Eva Facchin Pheonix, Arizona,; 18 Grandchildren & 6 great-grandchildren . Predeceased by husband Charles, a son Charles Jr, two daughters in infancy, a brother Fred, & a sister Annie Howard. The body rests at GR Francis & Sons Sydney Mines. Funeral Mass will be held Thurs 10a.m.. Interment in Parish Cemetery. (Both parents were born in Channel - PAB area)

51 Truro - Mrs Clyde Sheppard received word of her brother Joseph Smith died suddenly while visiting his mother Mrs Annie Smith in Codroy Valley, Nfld. Beside his mother he is survived by two sons Glenn, Toronto and Michael in Truro, five brothers & six sisters. Funeral services will be held in Millville Nfld.

TAIT, Ross John

, 57, Nfld. - Ross John Tait 57 Lewisport Nfld. died Tuesday 9 December 1986 at his residence. Born in Montreal he was the son of the late Harold Edgar & Ada Emily (Wilson) Tait . He was a graduate of Sydney Academy and a former member of the Royal Canadian Mounted Police. In later years he was self employed. Survived by his wife the former Janet Petrie, two sons Roy & Mark in Nfld & one daughter Lynn in Edmonton, one sister Marion Sydney in Brookfield Conn two brothers Wallace Toronto & Alan in Sydney. Funeral service & interment will take place in Nfld.
