Mrs Sarah, 83
Cape Breton Post 7 Nov 1951
The death occurred this morning of Mrs Ambrose Penny,
83, one of this town's most well known older residents. The deceased passed away
at the home of her daughter, Mrs. John Devoe, Pleasant Street, after an illness
of eight months. Born in Newfoundland, she was the former
Sarah Hickey and had been a
resident of this town for over 40 years. She was held in high esteem by
countless friends who will learn with regret of her passing. She was a
devoted member of St Joseph's Church. Surviving are her three sons and
two daughters. They are, Mrs. John Devoe [Minnie] with whom she resided,
Mrs. Joseph Reed [Julia], Regent Street, John Penny, Thompson Avenue, William
Penny, Brooks Street and George Penny, Pleasant Street. Her husband and
another daughter predeceased her some years ago. The funeral will be held in
the residence of her daughter Mrs. Devoe on Friday morning at 8:00 AM in time
for 9:00 mass at St Joseph cemetery. The funeral is under the direction
of W. J. Dooley Funeral services.
