Cape Breton Post 11 Dec 1947
Funeral services took place Tuesday, Dec 9, 1947 for John Thomas Ashford a well known resident who passed away in Hamilton memorial Hospital. Following a brief service at the residence on Margaret Street, the cortege proceeded to St John's Anglican Church where services were conducted by the rector Rev J S Stead. Buriel was in Lakeside Cemetery with Rev Mr Stead officiating at the graveside. The late Mr Ashford, who was born in Nfld., has been a resident of this town for about 20 years, where he is held in high esteem by a wide circle of friends. He had been employed at Leonard Brothers for some time. In addition to his wife he is survived by two sons Claude and Russell, both at home.
