ANSTEY, Annie W.
It is with broken hearts that the family of the late Annie W. Anstey of Grand Bank announces her passing. Annie passed away at the G.B. Cross Hospital in Clarenville on Monday, October 25, 2021, at the age of 93. Leaving to mourn with a lifetime of wonderful memories are her daughters, Marlene Savoury (Henry) of Grand Bank, Michelle Holloway (Ross) of Lethbridge, NL, Vicki Farrell (Ivan) of Burlington, ON, Tracy Burgess (Richard Marriott) of Bermuda; sons, William Anstey (Sabina) of Ottawa, ON, Sean Anstey (Freda) of Parksville, BC, Trevor Anstey (Nicole) of Devon, AB; sisters, Harriette, Joyce, Juanita, Eleanor and Joan; grandchildren, Jacklyn Burt, Matthew Burt (Lisa), Shantel Savoury, Katrina Price (Jason), Gordon Holloway (Sammie Hood), Cody Holloway (Jessica Drodge), 15 great grandchildren.; plus a large circle of extended family and friends. Annie was predeceased by her husband, Wallace Anstey; parents, Sarah and John Saunders; brothers, Fred, Bill, and Jack; sisters, Clara, Sadie, and Phyllis. In keeping with Annie's wishes, cremation has taken place. A graveside service will take place at a later date. In Annie's memory donations may be made to the Grand Bank Salvation Army Cemetery Fund. The family wishes to express a sincere thank you to the PCA's at the Clarenville Retirement Centre where Anne resided since 2018. A special thank you to Corina Reid and Caitlin Hoskins who made her time there a little more special. It is with deep sadness that the family of the late MARY ANN BARRY of Jean de Baie announces her passing. Mary Ann passed away at her home in Jean de Baie on Monday, October 11, 2021 at the age of 65. Leaving to mourn with a lifetime of wonderful memories are her partner, Tom Hardy; sisters, Agatha Walsh (Ralph) of Marystown, Philomena Rowlands (Phonse) of Jean de Baie, Barbara Butler (Patrick) of Jean de Baie, and Alice Hannam (Richard) of Jean de Baie; brothers, Martin Hannam (Isabelle) of Marystown, Thomas Hannam (Tracey) of Jean de Baie, Frank Hannam of Jean de Baie, Rick Hannam of Jean de Baie, and Eddy Hannam (Michelle) of Jean de Baie; plus a large number of nieces, nephews, family and friends. The Chislett Family will accept visitors at Peninsula Funeral Home in Creston South on Thursday, November 4, from 10 am - noon, 2 - 4 pm and 7 - 9 pm and on Friday, November 5, from 10 am - noon, 2 - 4 pm and 7 - 9 pm. Due to the current Covid-19 restrictions, alert level 3, this will be a walk through visitation with one household bubble visiting at a time. It is with heavy hearts and deep sadness that the family of the late Brian Clarke of Grand Bank announce his peaceful passing at his residence in Grand Bank on Friday, October 29, 2021 at the age of 65. CLARKE, Joan
It is with deep sadness that the family of the late Joan Clarke of Little St. Lawrence announces her passing at the age of 74. Joan was a caring mother, the most amazing and dedicated grandmother, sister, and friend. She passed away at the Health Sciences Centre in St. John's on October 6th, 2021 surrounded by her loving family. Leaving to mourn with a lifetime of wonderful memories are her daughter Bonnie Chipman (Jeff); the three joys of her life, her grandchildren Jarad Squires (Robyn), Ryan Squires (Marianne), and Becca Squires (Cesar); sisters Ellen Clarke of St. John's, Barbara Clarke of Little St. Lawrence, Patricia Clarke (Greg Squires) of Little St. Lawrence and Vera Etchegary of St. Lawrence; Uncle Gus Clarke (Mary) of Harbour Grace; Aunt Betty Loder of Little St. Lawrence; brother-in-law Roy Slaney of St. Lawrence; sisters-in-law Marg Clarke of Little St. Lawrence and Audrey Clarke of St. Lawrence; special nephew, Scott Clarke (Kristy); plus a large number of family and friends. CLUETT, Stephen "Paul"
Stephen "Paul" Cluett
, resident of Grande Prairie, AB, formerly of Frenchmen's Cove, NL, passed away on Sunday, October 3, 2021, in Grande Prairie at the age of 45 years. Paul was raised in Frenchmen's Cove, and started school in Garnish, then attended elementary and high school in Salt Pond, NL. He completed a carpentry trade at Trades College. Paul fished with his father for a few years before he moved o Boston where he worked for a moving company. Paul eventually moved to Grande Prairie and worked in the oil patch until his passing. Paul was a hardcore Calgary Flames fan as well as a Toronto Blue Jays fan. He was an avid camper who enjoyed riding his quad with his sons Mason and Morgan. Paul idolized his sons and was dedicated to attending their hockey games. He was also a loving son who checked in with his parents every day. Paul's friends are heartbroken and claim that his heart was as big as his smile and his laugh. He was easy to be around, and always a load of fun. Paul will be sadly missed by his mother and father Donna and Harvey Cluett; sons Mason Cluett, and Morgan Cluett (Lolita Hoddinott); brothers William (Susan) Cluett, and Justin Cluett; sister Miranda (Raymond) Sullivan; niece and nephews: Madison, Liam, and Daniel; many aunts and uncles; special friends David Galliott, and David Pittman; best friends Larry and Arlette McQuiggan; as well as many beloved friends at home in Newfoundland, and in Alberta. Paul was predeceased by his daughter Macy Katrina Cluett. Interment will be held at a later date in Newfoundland. COOMBS, Frederick (Fred Joe)
It is with broken hearts the family of Frederick (Fred Joe) Coombs of Grand Bank announce his passing on Wednesday October 6, 2021 at the Burin Peninsula Health Care Center at the age of 93 years. Leaving to mourn with loving and precious memories wife Harriett of 68 years; children Fred Coombs Jr. (Nellie), Corella Coombs, Calvin Coombs (Pauline), Geraldine (Joe); grandchildren Sherry, Wanda, Jane, Joanne, Alex, Calvin Jr, Dylan, Chelsea, Justin; great-grandchildren Christian, Owen, Madison, Jamie, Layla, Thomas, Payton, Benjamin, Emerson, Charlie, Amelia, Jake plus a large circle of other family and friends. Predeceased by son Tom Coombs, daughter-in-law Regina Coombs, grandson Bradley Coombs; great-granddaughter Alexandra Somerton; sisters Gillette Mcacharen, Elizabeth Mckinnon, Agnes Pardy, Priscilla Hynes, Sarah Clarke and Kathleen Clarke; son-in-law Lloyd Rideout. Fred Joe leaves to mourn a large circle of family and friends. He was the life of the party and could be seen dancing with anyone that would dance with him. He was always the first one on the floor and last one to stop dancing every Saturday night. He made his living working away with CP rail and loved working with CP rail was proud of his work, until he wanted to be home with his loving family. He started working in the fish plant in Grand Bank from August 1967 until his retirement. He is being welcomed and reunited with his son Tom and grandson Bradley Coombs. In keeping with Covid restrictions there will be a walk through visitation Thursday, October 7th from 4-9PM and Friday 2- 4PM and 7-9PM at Serenity Funeral Home, Grand Bank. EVANS, Maurice (Moe)
December 26, 1946-October 23, 2021

It is with deep sadness that we announce the death of Maurice (Moe) Evans at the age of 74 years. Predeceased by parents Capt. Robert Evans and Annie May Evans. Moe spent his career as a teacher in the St. John's metro area. His friends and family were important to him and he cherished those relationships. He was a skilled hunter and fisherman; the happiest memories of his life were with his family and perusing his passions. He will be forever missed by his wife Heather; sons Robert (Stacey) and Andrew (Joanne); his precious granddaughters Lydia, Emma, and Haley; brother Fred (Edie); brothers-in-law Carl Lake (Ethel) and Jasper Lake; sister-in-law Jeanette May (Howard). The family would like to extend their sincere thanks and gratitude to our Community Health Nurse April Adams for her compassion and kindness. Cremation has taken place. Visitation will be held at Barrett's Funeral Home, 328 Hamilton Avenue, St. John's on Thursday October 28th 2-4pm. It is with profound sadness that the family of the late Carrie Pauline George of Fortune announces her passing. Carrie passed away at the her residence in Fortune on Monday, October 11, 2021, at the age of 62. Leaving to mourn with a lifetime of wonderful memories are her son, Marc (Joanne) George of Paradise; mother, Allettia Periera; sisters, Joanne (Gary) Hatch, Marg (Brian) Gilbert, Lois (Greg) Peddle; brothers, Dave (Yvonne) Periera, Bob (Nancy) Periera; one precious granddaughter, Drew; special companion, Hubert Rose and his children, Rebecca & Dylan; plus a large circle of extended family and friends. It is with great sadness that the family of Margaret Ada Pike announces her passing on Monday, October 25, 2021 at the Burin Peninsula Health Care Centre at the age of 77. The world lost a beloved wife, mother, grandmother and sister on October 25, 2021. Margaret fought a long battle with Ovarian Cancer, but it never stopped her from giving love to all her family. Throughout the battle she had the most positive attitude and everyone one knew her as a kind soul and who always gave the best hugs around. Margaret always worried about others more than herself. She had a tendency to ask how others were doing even when she was sick. She was very selfless in that way. She loved the daily talks she had with many of her family members and friends both close and far away, all of whom she loved very much. She was a fantastic cook as many can attest to whether she was making a cooked dinner for company or making a batch of shortbread cookies for Christmas. She took great pleasure in making others happy. Her calming voice and beautiful smile will be missed by all who knew her. She may be gone but she will never be forgotten. It is with great sadness the family of John Planke of Port au Bras announces his passing at the Burin Peninsula Health Care Center on October 18, 2021 at the age of 79 years. John was married to the love of his life Ida for 55 wonderful years. They raised 3 wonderful children together. His pride and joy were his grandchildren and great grandchildren. When he was sick even on his worse days his eyes would light up and a beautiful smile would appear when his grandkids visited. John was a very quiet man, a man of very few words but always loved having company and listening to his music. He could be seen often on his patio with his eyes closed just listening to some of his favourite singers Lloyd Snow and Brian Finn just to name a few. He was always there to help anyone and give a helping hand to anyone in need. He loved to go trouting and camping with his family. In his younger days he loved listening to the ham radio and spent hours doing so. John will be missed by all his family and never forgotten. His memory will live on in his family. On Monday, October 4, 2021, N. Beatrice (nee Dixon) Pope, RN, passed peacefully away at her home, surrounded by her loving family. Born December 6, 1932 in Fortune, NL, Bea is predeceased by her loving parents, JR and Eleanor Dixon, brother, George T Dixon (Phyllis) and sister, M Grace Thornhill. She is survived by her husband of 65 years, Charlie Pope, their children, Charlie Pope (Janet), Eleanor Pope (Mike) and Jennifer Seely (Shawn), grandchildren, Leslie Hopkins (Ryan), Christopher Pope (Line), Justin Seely (Katie), Trevor Seely (Katie) and Stephanie Seely (Danny) and great grandchildren, Lucy Beatrice and Harvey Hopkins and her brother, Robert Dixon (Margaret) and family. Also survived by her nieces, Gail Dixon McClare (Ed) and namesake Beatrice Ann Cowley (Gerry) and her nephew, Paul Thornhill (Lorraine) and their families. Bea spent many years happily picking blueberries and partridge berries at Snows Pond. She had a passion for walking, reading and a good game of bridge. WHITTLE, Pius
It is with deep sadness that the family of the late Pius Whittle of Parker's Cove announces his passing. Pius passed away on Thursday, October 28, 2021 at the age of 81. Leaving to mourn with a lifetime of wonderful memories are his nephew, Edward Whittle (Margie) of Parker's Cove; sisters-in-law, Vivian Whittle of Marystown and Alice Miller of Marystown; plus a large circle of nieces, nephews, relatives and friends. Pius was predeceased by his parents, Edward and Julia Whittle; brothers, George Whittle, Ambrose Whittle, and Martin (Hannah) Parrott; sisters, Kathleen (Arthur) Harris, and Anne Gaulton. Burial service to take place at a day and time to be announced. In Pius's memory donations may be made to Operation Smile. WHYTE, Dermot
It is with deep sadness that the family of the late Dermot Whyte of Petite Forte announces his passing. Dermot passed away at the Burin Peninsula Health Care Center in Burin on October 17, 2021 at the age of 80. Leaving to mourn with a lifetime of wonderful memories are his wife Madonna of 47 years; son, Gary Whyte of Marystown; daughters, Michelle Hickey of Sunnyside, Jean Ann Denty (Paul) of Edmonton, and Nicole Whyte (Jeffrey Wells) of Placentia; 10 grandchildren, Hayley Hickey, Hilary Hickey, Madison Whyte, Mackenzie Denty, James Hefferan, Nathan Denty, Logan Foote, Ella Hefferan, Peyton Whyte, and Emma Whyte; sisters, Margaret Jones (Peter) of South East Bight, Ellen Murphy of South East Bight, Angela Jones (Anthony) of Paradise, Annie May O'Neill (Barry) of Paradise, and Nora Emberley of Southern Harbour; brothers, Sylvester Whyte Jr. of South East Bight, Bernard Whyte of South East Bight, Tom Whyte (Debbie) of South East Bight, and Jim Whyte (Catherine) of South East Bight; plus a large number of family and friends. Dermot was predeceased by his parents, Sylvester and Elizabeth Whyte. The Whyte Family will be accepting visitors at Holy Rosary RC Church in Petite Forte on Tuesday, October 19th starting at noon and Wednesday, October 20th all day. Mass of Christian Burial will take place at 10am Thursday, October 21st. Interment to follow at Holy Rosary RC Cemetery, Petite Forte.
