Burin Peninsula Obituaries
October 2011

The area includes from Terrenceville on down to Grand Bank, over to Lamaline, St. Lawrence, Burin, Marystown and down the Peninsula again to Boat Harbour.
All the communities are not named but serves the whole of the Peninsula.

 

BUTT, Linda Ann
(December 20, 1954 - October 10, 2011)
Passed away at the Burin Peninsula Health Care Center on Monday, October 10, 2011, Linda Ann Butt of Grand Bank, age 56 years. Predeceased by parents, John Harvey Butt & Pearl Hillier; brother Junior Butt, sister Joyce Marie Butt & grandmother Gladys Butt. Leaving to mourn: daughters Melissa & Shawn, Marcella (Peter) & Monika Foote; grandchildren, Magan & Jasmine; sisters, Evelyn (Fred), Gladys, Margaret, Jackie, Effie (Phil), Sharon (Bill) & Bonnie, brother Billy. Also a circle of other relatives and friends. Remains resting at Warren's Funeral Home on Tuesday from 2pm 4pm (FAMILY ONLY); 7pm - 9pm. Wednesday & Thursday from 10am - 12pm; 2pm - 4pm; 7pm - 9pm. Funeral service will take place from the Salvation Army Grand Bank at 2pm on Friday, October 14th. Interment to follow at the Salvation Army Cemetery, Grand Bank. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the family. Funeral arrangements are entrusted to the care of Warren's Funeral Home, Grand Bank.

HICKEY, LEO
1928-2011
It is with great sadness that the family of the late LEO HICKEY of Terrenceville, announces his passing at The Burin Peninsula Health Care Centre on Friday October 14, 2011 at the age of 83. Leaving to mourn with fond and loving memories are Sons Leo (Marlene) of Terrenceville, Ken (Romena) of St. Bernard's, Keith (Valerie) of Grand Le Pierre, and Gary (Krista) of St. John's; Daughters Vivian (John) Rideout of Terrenceville, Marilyn (Ward) Butt of Swift Current, Madonna (James) Hackett of Jean De Baie, and Madeline (Michael) Myles of Marystown; Sister Maude Myles of St. Bernard's; 11 Grandchildren; 7 Great-Grandchildren; plus a large circle of family and friends. Predeceased by wife Annie. Resting and Visitation to take place at St. Joseph's R.C. Church in Terrenceville on Saturday October 15th after 7pm; and Sunday October 16th all day. Funeral Mass will take place on Monday October 17, 2011 at 2:00pm from St. Joseph's RC Church in Terrenceville. Interment to follow at the RC Cemetery in Terrenceville. Flowers gratefully accepted. SLANEY, THERESA D.
1934-2011
It is with great sadness that the family of the late THERESA D. SLANEY of St. Lawrence, announces her passing at the U.S. Memorial Hospital in St. Lawrence on Sunday October 9, 2011 at the age of 77. Leaving to mourn with fond and loving memories are Sons Eddie (Aggie) of St. Lawrence and Aaron (Audrey) of Oshawa, ON; Daughters Edith (Gary Clarke) of Little St. Lawrence, Valerie (Cyril Rennie) of Balmir Town, ON, and Colleen (Patrick Walsh) of Oshawa, ON; 13 Grandchildren; 3 Great-Grandchildren; plus a large circle of family and friends. Predeceased by Husband Adrian, Son Troy, Parents Joseph & Francis Murphy, and Sister Lillian. Resting and Visitation to take place at St. Thomas Aquinas RC Church in St. Lawrence on Monday October 10th from 2pm - 9pm and Tuesday October 11th from 10am - 9pm, where Funeral Mass will take place on Wednesday October 12, 2011 at a time to be announced. Interment to follow at Mount Cecilia RC Cemetery in St. Lawrence. In Theresa's memory, donations may be made to a charity of one's choice or flowers gratefully accepted. STONE, Marion
(December 19, 1927 - October 6, 2011)
Passed away at St. Clare's Hospital St. John's on Thursday, October 6, 2011, Marion Stone of Fortune, age 83 years. Predeceased by husband Frederick, daughter Rhyina, parents John & Emaline Bungay, sisters Ethel Pardy, Minnie Bungay & Shirley Bungay. Leaving to mourn: daughter Brenda (Fred), son Fred (Bea), daughter Sandy (Bruce); granddaughters Carrie, Nikki & Chelsea; great grandchildren Derrek & Devin; sisters Myrtle Barnes, Vida Barnes (Merril); brothers Harvey Bungay, Curtis Bungay (Eleanor), Charles Bungay (Emily); Special Friend Juanita Skinner. Also a large circle of other relatives & friends. Remains resting at All Saints Anglican Church, Fortune on Friday at 8pm. Then on Saturday and Sunday. Funeral Service will take place on Sunday at 3:30pm. Interment to follow at All Saints Anglican Cemetery, Fortune. Funeral arrangements are entrusted to the care of Warren's Funeral Home, Grand Bank.
