Burin Peninsula Obituaries
October 2008

The area includes from Terrenceville on down to Grand Bank, over to Lamaline, St. Lawrence, Burin, Marystown and down the Peninsula again to Boat Harbour. All the communities are not named but serves the whole of the Peninsula.

 

FOLLETT, ELLEN J.
Passed peacefully away at the U.S. Memorial Health Care Center on Friday Oct 10, 2008 Ellen J Follett of Grand Beach, age 96 years. Predeceased by husband George, brothers Charlie, George, James, sisters Bridget Hollett, Maria Grandy, Catherine Dodge, Elizabeth Keeping, Carrie Mosher. Left to mourn three daughters, Mary at Grand Beach, Greta (Ben) Weymouth at Grand Beach, Emma Samms (Clifford) at Grand Bank, Grandson William Samms (Joan) at Grand Bank, Granddaughter Brenda Steward at Grand Bank, three Great Grandchildren, Ernest Stewart, Bretany Stewart at Grand Bank, Melissa Hodder (Allan) at Jacques Fontaine, four Great Great Grandchildren, Jaden, Allan, Anthony and Amanda. also a large circle of other relatives and friends Funeral service was conducted by Rev Graham Cook from Warren's funeral home interment followed in the United Church Cemetery Grand Beach, organist was Mrs Margaret Mullins, Pallbearers were Larry Osmond, Russell Follett, Leonard Follett, Fred Tibbo, Jason Tibbo and Max Hiscock. Donations in her memory may be made to the Daffodil place Funeral Arrangements entrusted to the care of Warren's Funeral Home Grand Bank.

1920-2008

Passed peacefully away at the U.S. Memorial Hospital on Wednesday October 15, 2008, Catherine Elizabeth Hennebury of Lord’s Cove in her 88th year. Leaving to mourn with fond and loving memories Sons: Marcell (Bridget) of Lord’s Cove, Clyde of Lord’s Cove, Fred of St. Lawrence, Hubert (Joyce) of Lord’s Cove, Vince (Jean) of Toronto, ON, Ray (Carrie) of Toronto, ON, and Tom of Lord’s Cove; Daughters: Frances (Jim) of St. Lawrence, Mary (Pete) of Toronto, ON, Cathy of Toronto, ON, Muriel (Albert) of St. Lawrence, and Shirley (Gerald) of Burin; Sister-in-law: Elizabeth Walsh of Lord’s Cove; 33 Grandchildren; 39 Great-Grandchildren; 1 Great-Great-Grandchild; Plus a large circle of relatives and friends. Predeceased by Husband Vincent, and Son Howard. Passed away at the Burin Peninsula Health Care Center on Tuesday October 28th, Dennis Phillip Kelland of Grand Bank age 37 years. Predeceased by grandparents Rosetta Kelland, Frederick,Eleanor and Margaret Smith; cousins Judy and Joey, and uncles Bill and Vernon. Leaving to mourn: wife Laura, daughters Samantha, Danette and Tamara, parents Reg Kelland(Sueann) at Paradise and Marilyn Smith(Jim Snook) at Grand Bank; father and mother-in-law Cyril and Genevieve House at Grand Bank, sisters Heather (Brian Paquelle) at Missisauga, Ontario and Rebecca at Paradise, sister-in-law Holly (Glen O'Brien) and Melanie and Danielle at Dartmouth, Nova Scotia, grandfather Eli Kelland at Grand Bank. Also a large circle of other relatives and friends. Remains resting at Warren's Funeral Home Grand Bank on Tuesday from 2pm - 5pm and 7pm - 9pm. Then on Wednesday from 10am - 12noon; 2pm - 5pm; 7pm - 9pm. Funeral Service will take place on Thursday at 1pm from St. Alban's Anglican Church Grand Bank. Cremation to follow. Leaving to mourn with fond and loving memories Sons: Leslie (Bonnie) of Winnipeg, Ronald (Lize) of B.C., Garold (Mercedes) of Burin, and Eugene (Melita) of Burin; Daughters: Betty (friend Don) of St. John’s, and Lorna (Granddaughter Myra) of Winnipeg; Sister-In-Law Lottie Matthews; Son-In-Laws Paul Rabenort and David Piercey; 20 Grandchildren; Special Grandson Chad Matthews; 15 Great-Grandchildren; Plus a large circle of relatives and friends. Leaving to mourn: husband Dermott at Lord's Cove, sister Mary Alverna at Sisters of Mercy, St. John's, sister Madge and brother-in-law Claude Hodge at Lord's Cove, brothers Willie and sister-in-law Blanche at Lamaline, Anthony and sister-in-law Marjorie at Point May, and Bernard at Point May, sisters-in-law Thelma Harnett at Toronto, Nora Harnett at Lord's Cove and Vera Harnett at Lamaline; nieces: Cathy, Yvonne, Tracey, Verna, Corie and Deanna, nephews: Leslie, Larry, Chris, Dale and Wade. Leaving to mourn wife Helen of St. Lawrence; sons Jim and wife Pamela of St. Lawrence, Wallace and wife Connie of Lewin’s Cove, Wade and wife Renita of Lloyd Minister, Sask; daughters Heather and husband Stephen Strang of Wabush, Viola and husband Doug Deazley of Brampton, Ont. 10 grandchildren and 1 great-grandchild; sister Viola Little John of St. John’s plus a large circle of other family and friends. Predeceased by parents Giles and Dina Pike and brother John B. Pike. Predeceased by fathers Aubrey Dove & John Andrew Murphy; grandmothers Theresa Antle & Louise Dove.
