ANSTEY, ALICE MAY
Alice May Anstey, formerly Slaney and née Bolt, 84, most recently of Marystown, Newfoundland and Labrador, passed peacefully away on November 29, 2023, at the Blue Crest Nursing Home in Grand Bank. Alice was born on July 24, 1939, to Mark and Alma Bolt in Wansworth, Newfoundland, she grew up in an independent Newfoundland before joining Canada. She was passionate about her family, friends, and her community. Whether it was visiting friends in the harbour, playing cards, or community dances, she was there! At home, she loved knitting, quilting, reading, and chatting with friends on the phone. In 1957, she married Eugene Augustin Slaney, a fluorspar miner, who sadly was one of the many victims of the St. Lawrence mine and passed in 1986. Together, they raised their six children in St. Lawrence, Newfoundland. In 1988, she remarried Lloyd Gideon Anstey, who also passed in 2010. Alice is survived by her surviving children, Darrel, James Paul, Derek, Nancy, and Bonnie, after losing her son Barry in April 2022, their partners, Kyle, Isadore, and Michele, along with those of Lloyd, Angeline, Valerie, and Leta. Her grandchildren, whom she loved dearly, Randon, Erin, Suzanne, Dustin, Tristan, Kaeley, Jamie, and Mackenzie, along with those she loved through Lloyd. Her infant great grandchildren, Claudia and Edna, who she was thrilled to meet. Her surviving siblings, Marilyn Branton, Keith and Murray Bolt, and their partners, Linda, Doug, Doreen, and Glenda, after losing her brother Jim Bolt in September 2021, and their children, her beloved nieces and nephews. Her dear friend, Ella. And so many other families, extended families, and friends in the area. There will be a visitation with family on Sunday and Monday, December 3 and 4, 2023, at 10am-12pm. 2pm-5pm and 6pm-8pm each day, located at Serenity Funeral Home, 95 Main Street, Burin Bay Arm, A0E 1G0. Funeral service will take place at Serenity on Tuesday, December 5, 2023, at 10am, with cremation to follow. BARNES Jr., Frank Alex
It is with broken hearts that the family of late Frank Alex Barnes Jr. of Fortune announces his passing at his home on Sunday October 29, 2023 aged 56. Leaving to mourn with a lifetime of wonderful memories, family and commitment through his two sons Dylan (Stephaine) Oxbow, Saskatchewan, Matthew (Courtney) Fortune. He adored his role as Papa to his beloved eight grandchildren Reid, Kobie, Iris, Theo, Connor, Jacob, Addison, Layla; brothers Wilson Grand Bank, Terry (Patsy) Hr. Grace, Bob (Cecila) St. Johns, sister Connie. (Fortune) also a large circle of other family & friends. He will be dearly missed by his dogs whom he loved. Predeceased by his father & mother Frank & Winnie Barnes. Frank had many illness thoughout his life but he kept a positive attitude and was a fighter to the very end. He was a loving & caring person with a great zest for Life. He enjoyed the great outdoors with passion especially hunting with his dog's. The family would like to extend a special thank you to the staff of the Dialysis unit and BPHCC for their loving care and compassion for the time he spent there. In keeping with Frank Jr. wishes cremation has taken place. A funeral service will be held at The All Saints Anglican Church, Fortune with a time to be announced at a later date. It is with broken hearts that the family of the late Emily Bath of Creston North announces her passing. Emily passed away at the Burin Peninsula Health Care Centre in Burin on Saturday, November 4th, 2023, at the age of 69. Leaving to mourn with a lifetime of wonderful memories are her husband of 50 years, Vay; sons, Trevor (Chantalle) and Trent; her grandchildren, Anderson, Lorelai, Wyatt and Bennett; brothers, Gordon Foote (Denise), John Foote (Louise), Ches Foote (Joanne) and Cecil Foote (Sylvia); sisters, Mary Fizzard (John), Melvina White (Cecil), Joan Andrews (Brad), Judy Collins (Freeman) and Carol Power (Cecil); brothers-in-laws, Otis Bath (Claudine), Willis Bath (Greta) and Bond Burton; sisters-in-law, Goldie Ward (Ches), Mabel Andrews and Fern Bath; plus a large circle of nieces, nephews, extended family and friends. Emily was predeceased by parents, Reginald and Alfreda Foote; parents-in-law, George and Gertie Bath, daughter-in-law, Cathy Bath; sister-in-law, Shirley Burton, Faye Bath, Margaret Bath and Carol Foote; brothers-in-law, Lesley Bath, Louis Bath and Jerry Andrews. The family would like to offer heartfelt thanks to the nursing staff of the Medicine unit at the Burin Peninsula Health Care Centre for their care and compassion shown to Emily during her stay.
