Burin Peninsula Obituaries
November 2008

The area includes from Terrenceville on down to Grand Bank, over to Lamaline, St. Lawrence, Burin, Marystown and down the Peninsula again to Boat Harbour. All the communities are not named but serves the whole of the Peninsula.

 

BUNGAY, Kevin R
(April 20, 1953 - November 20, 2008)

Passed suddenly away at the Burin Peninsula Heath Care Center on Thursday November 20th Kevin R.Bungay of Grand Bank,age 55 years. Predeceased by: Father Maxwell Bungay.Mother Mary Bungay, Sister Marcella Saliski, Father in law Charles B Thornhill, Mother in law Emma Thornhill, sister in law Joyce Thornhill, and Jessie Thornhill. Leaving to mourn wife Shirley Bungay, Daughter Darla {Matthew}, Son Travis {Angela), Grandchildren Brooke, Bree, Quentin, and Liam. Brothers in law Paul Saliski, Jacob Thornhill {Lenora}, Bill Thornhill {Mary}, Cecil Thornhill {Alvina}, Howard Thornhill {Marilyn}, Charles Thornhill {Frances}, Lloyd Thornhill {Grace}, Sister in Laws Dorothy Barnes Rogers {Charles},Georgie Rose {Earl}, Olive Dodge-Cousins {Howard} Donna Cooke {Roger}, Emma Mae Strickland {Cecil}, plus a large circle of other relatives & friends. Remains resting at Warren's Funeral Home Grand Bank on Friday from 2pm-5pm 7pm-9pm Saturday 10am-12pm 2pm-5pm 7pm-9pm Funeral service to be held at the Salvation Army Grand Bank Sunday November 23, at 2pm. Interment to follow at the Salvation Army Cemetery Grand Bank. Donations in his memory may be made to the family.Funeral arrangements are entrusted to the care of Warren's Funeral Home Grand Bank.

MANNING, Joseph

Passed away peacefully at his home surrounded by his family Joseph Manning of Epworth in his 90th year. Leaving to mourn wife Flora; children Mabel, John, Lil, Joe, Karen, Pauline, Bonnie and their families including 17 grandchildren and 5 great-grandchildren. Also brother Walton and family; brother-in-law Ian Naugler and family, nieces, nephews and a large circle of other family and friends.Hubert F. Tucker officiated Funeral service from Serenity Chapel, Burin on Monday,November 17, 2008 with interment to follow at United Cemetery, Epworth. Pallbearers were grandsons Lyndon Moulton, John Walsh, Ryan Cleal, Jonathan Manning, James Beazley and Ben Tobin. OSMOND, Lydia
(October 31, 1918 - November 5, 2008)

Passed peacefully away into the loving arms of God surrounded by her family at the Masonic Park Nursing Home on Wednesday November 5, 2008, Lydia Osmond age 90 years, formerly of Grand Bank.Predeceased by her husband, Charles, March 25, 1997. Leaving to mourn with fond and loving memories her two sons; Chesley (Zita),Truro, Nova Scotia, Gary (Susan) Cavendish, Prince Edward Island, one Daughter; Bessie Berry (Keith), Truro, Nova Scotia, five grandchildren, Roger, Clint, Denise, Lisa, Michelle, brother-in-law Stanley Osmond, Grand Bank, two special nieces, Eileen Butt (Gerald) Mount Pearl, Dorcas Elms (John) St John's, one special nephew Larry Osmond (Jeanette), Grand Bank; also many other relatives and friends, a special thanks to the nurses and staff of the Masonic nursing home for their kindness and compassion during her stay. Remains resting at Warren's Funeral Home. Visitation on Thursday 7-9 pm, Friday 2-4 pm, 7-9pm. Funeral service from Salvation Amy Citadel on Saturday 11am. PITTMAN, Alice Jean
(July 25, 1934 - November 18, 2008)

Passed peacefully away at the Grand Bank Community Health Care on Tuesday, November 18th, Alice Jean Pittman of Lamaline, age 74 years. Predeceased by parents George and Susannah Pittman, sisters Catherine and Bertha and brother Richard. Leaving to mourn: husband Maurice, daughters Elizabeth, Mary (husband Don), Selena (husband Lloyd), Catherine (husband Clyde), son Walter; grandchildren Kim, Kenny, Wandalee, Barbara, Jenny, Matthew, Amanda, Valerie, Vicki and Vanessa, 6 Great grandchildren; Special Friends Les and Susie Lovell, and Beulah Hooper. Also a circle of other relatives and friends. Remains resting at St. Mary's Anglican Church Lamaline on Tuesday Evening, and Wednesday and Thursday. Funeral Service will take place on Friday at 1pm from St. Mary's Anglican Church, Lamaline. Interment to follow at St. Mary's Anglican Cemetery, Lamaline. Passed peacefully away at the Blue Crest Nursing Home Grand Bank on Friday November 21, Lillian Maude Rideout of Grand Bank, age 94 years. predeceased by Husband George. Leaving to mourn sons Stanley {Mildred} Grand Bank, Lloyd {Corella} Grand Bank 3 Grandsons Craig {Lisa} Barry {Lainie} Cory 3 Great Grandchildren Brandon,Evan,Tayia.Sister Winnifred Banfield {Lloyd} Brother Eli Hiscock {Maria} Also a circle of other relatives and friends. Leaving to mourn sons James (Lorraine) of Lawn, George of lawn, Emmanuel (Alice) of Lawn, Winston of Lawn, Tom (Betty) of Lawn, Stephen (Heather) of Labrador City; daughters Lenora (Jim Mackey) of Catalina, Ruth (Andrew Drake) of Allan's Island, Ruby of St. John's; daughters-in-law Ruby Strang of Marystown, Barbara Strang of Lawn; 23 grandchildren; 17 great-grandchildren; sisters Hilda Edwards of Lawn, Lenora Edwards (Eric) of St. John's; brothers Howard Brockerville(Patricia) of Marystown, Ernest Brockerville of Lawn plus a large circle of other family and friends.
