Burin Peninsula Obituaries

The area includes from Terrenceville on down to Grand Bank, over to Lamaline, St. Lawrence, Burin, Marystown and down the Peninsula again to Boat Harbour. All the communities are not named but serves the whole of the Peninsula.

 

BAKER, LEROY
It is with great sadness that the family of the late LEROY BAKER of Harbour Mille announces his passing at the Burin Peninsula Health Care Centre on Friday, May 5, 2017, at the age of 57. Leaving to mourn with fond and loving memories are son, Travis Marsden of Burgeo; step-daughter, Meena Tibbo of Harbour Mille; sisters, Linda (Tom) Windsor of Little Harbour, and Shirley (Jamie) Forbes of Ontario; brothers, Eric (Yvonne) Baker of Little Bay East, Edward (Kim) Baker of Little Bay East, and Terrence (Pauline) Baker of St. Bernard's; sister-in-law Ada (Don) Tibbo of Harbour Mille; plus a large circle of relatives and friends. He was predeceased by his wife Judy; parents, Edward and Mary Baker; sister, Debbie Marshall; brother, Howard Baker; and brother-in-law Ches Tibbo. The Baker Family will be accepting visitors at St. Mary's Anglican Church in Harbour Mille on Saturday, May 6th, beginning at 1:00 p.m.; Sunday, May 7th and Monday, May 8th all day; from where the Funeral Service will take place on Tuesday, May 9, 2017 at 2:00 p.m. Interment will follow at St. Mary's Anglican Cemetery in Harbour Mille. BENNETT, CHARLES R.
It is with great sadness that the family of the late CHARLES R. BENNETT of Grand Bank announce his passing at the Blue Crest Nursing Home in Grand Bank on Tuesday, May 30, 2017, at the age of 97. Leaving to mourn with fond and loving memories are wife, Emily of 76 years; sons, Bob (Mildred) of Grand Bank, Junior (Cecily) of Grand Bank, Max (Arbor) of Aurora; daughters, Bessie (Kie) of Grand Bank, Ethel (Carl) of Toronto, Tarra {Shirley} (Steve) of Grand Beach; 12 grandchildren; 15 great-grandchildren; plus a large circle of relatives and friends. Predeceased by son, Ches Bennett. The funeral service will take place at Wiseman's Funeral Home in Grand Bank on Friday, June 2, 2017 at 11 a.m. Interment to follow at the Jehovah's Witness Cemetery in Grand Bank. Leaving to mourn loving wife of 29 years Elizabeth; sons Wayne (Mary Rose) of Calgary, AB, Perry (Anna) of Cambridge, ON, Dan (Trish) of Guelph, ON, Mike (Loretta) of Grand Falls, Derrick (Judy) of Marystown, and Rod (Kathy) of Spruce Grove, AB; daughters Cynthia (Arley) of Clarenville, Karen (Ben) of Clarenville and Arlene of Spruce Grove, AB; 11 grandchildren; 7 great grandchildren; sisters Jessie of Paradise and Yvonne (Dave) of Burin plus a large circle of other family and friends. Predeceased by parents Ronald and Gertrude Goodridge; daughter Barb Snow and son-in-law Wilbert Snow. Resting at Serenity Funeral Home Tuesday, May 2nd 6-9pm family only. It is with great sadness that the family of the late PEGGY LYNN GREEN of Grand Bank announce her passing at her residence in Grand Bank on Tuesday, May 2, 2017 at the age of 53. Leaving to mourn with fond and loving memories are son, Jeremy Green of Fortune; mother, Lucy Hillier of Grand Bank; sisters, Kathleen (Bill) Herridge of Grand Bank, Dorothy (Larry) Bourque of Cold Water, ON, Phyllis (Calvin) Penney of Grand Bank, Maisie Baker of Pool's Cove, Kellie (Dale) Engram of Paradise; brothers, Edgar (Dulcie) Hillier of Grand Bank, Cecil (Myrtle) Hillier of Grand Bank; many nieces and nephews; special friends, Isabel Isaacs and Cathy May; plus a large circle of family and friends. Predeceased by her father, Stanley Hillier; brothers, Ernest and Stanley Hillier Jr.; and brothers-in-law, Cyril Herridge and Howard Baker. In honouring Peggy's wishes, cremation has taken place. , born in Grand Bank) Passed peacefully away, surrounded by her loving family on May 9, 2017, Geraldine Matthews (nee Patten), age 78. Predeceased by her husband Rod, and parents Georgie and Gerald Patten. Leaving to mourn her daughters Anne (Keith) Hillier, Pat Smith (Hubert Wells), and Ruth (John) Russell; 7 grandchildren; 7 great grandchildren; 1 great greatgrandchild; siblings Maxine (Tom) Rose, Eli Patten (Marge Pike), Clarence Patten (Ardith, deceased), and Louise (Max) Hickman; and a large circle of friends. As per her request, cremation has taken place. A funeral service will be held on Friday, May 12th, 2017 at 11 a.m in the Carnell Memorial Chapel, with refreshments to follow in the lower lounge.
