Burin Peninsula Obituaries

The area includes from Terrenceville on down to Grand Bank, over to Lamaline, St. Lawrence, Burin, Marystown
and down the Peninsula again to Boat Harbour. All the communities are not named but serves the whole of the Peninsula.

 

DUNPHY, Peter
(August 21, 1927 - May 4, 2014)

It is with great sadness that the family of Peter Dunphy of Epworth announces his passing at the Burin Peninsula Health Care Center on May 4, 2014, at the age of 86 years. Leaving to mourn wife Sheila; son Brian (Lori) of Epworth; daughters Mary Francis (Sandy) of Burin, Michelle Kilfoy (Ernie) of Marystown and Georgina Boone (Gary) of Epworth; grandchildren Justin, Javen, Scott, Christopher, Mackenzie and Michael; 5 great grandchildren; sister Gladys Fleming (Ray) and brother Joe Dunphy (Mariette) plus a large circle of other family and friends. Predeceased by brothers Gord, Johnny, Edward and Gerard. Resting at Serenity Funeral Home, Burin Tuesday and Wednesday 2-9 PM. Mass of Christian Burial to take place from St. Patrick's RC Church, Burin on Thursday at 10:30 am with interment following at RC Cemetery, Spanish Room. Donations in his memory may be made to the family or flowers gratefully accepted. Funeral arrangements entrusted to Serenity Funeral Home, Burin.

EDWARDS, JANET
(1937-2014)

It is with great sadness that the family of the late JANET EDWARDS of Marystown announces her passing at St. Clare's Mercy Hospital in St. John's, on Friday, May 23, 2014, at the age of 76. Leaving to mourn with fond and loving memories sons Paul (Julie) of St. John's, Dr. Scott (Kimberly) of St. John's and Craig (Sheena) of St. John's, daughter Dr. Paula (Ronnie Walsh) of St. John's; 11 grandchildren, Joey, Jillian, Anna, Kirk, Laura, Rebecca, William, Gordon, Kathleen, Daria and Gavin; plus a large circle of relatives and friends. She was predeceased by her husband, Bernard, parents, William and Kathleen Linegar. Resting and visitation will take place from Wiseman's Funeral Home in Marystown, on Saturday, May 24, from 7:00 p.m. to 9:00 p.m., Sunday, May 25, from 10:00 a.m. to 9:00 p.m. and Monday; May 26, from 10:00 a.m. to 1:00 p.m. The Mass of Christian Burial will take place at Sacred Heart Roman Catholic Church on Monday, May 26, at 2:00 p.m. Interment will follow at Sacred Heart Roman Catholic Cemetery in Marystown. (January 2, 1942 - May 25, 2014)

Passed away at the Burin Peninsula Health Care Centre on May 25, 2014, Merrill Evans. Leaving to mourn with fond and loving memories wife Madge; daughters Winnie Barnes (Brian) of ON, Shelly Humphries (Jeff) of Lawrenceton and Merlynn Mullen (Craig); grandchildren Jordan, Nolan, Abigail, Kaylee, Grace and or Emily; brothers Howard (Mercedes), Randell (Cathy), Reg (Norma) and Fred (Lynn); sisters Hannah Taylor, Laura Hodder (Jim), Rosie Moulton (Bill) and Jessie Power (Andy); sisters-in-law Donna Evans, Mabel (Gordon) and Joy (Albert); brother-in-law Bob plus a large circle of nieces and nephews and many other family and friends. HENEBURY, Alfreda
(January 19, 1921 - May 2, 2014)

Passed peacefully at the Burin Peninsula Health Care Center on Friday, May 2, 2014 Alfreda Henebury at the age of 93 years. Predeceased by her husband Richard and sons Gerald, Joseph and Gerard. Leaving to mourn with fond and loving memories brother Henry Collins (Pat); children Robert (Margaret), Edward (Stella), Adrian (Velma), Rosemary Huddy (Reg), Anne Henebury (Rev), Carmelita Stefanyk (Don), Albert (Linda), Patrick (Lois), Leonard (Barbara), Leslie (Judy) and Geraldine and Marie; 20 grandchildren, 17 great grandchildren plus a large circle of other family and friends. In lieu of flowers donations in her memory may be made to Church of the Most Holy Rosary, Point May or Janeway Hospital, St. John's.Resting at Church of the Most Holy Rosary, Point May 1-5 PM, Sunday, May 4th. HERRIDGE, Edward Arthur
(October 8, 1938 - May 23, 2014)

Passed peacefully away at the Burin Peninsula Health care Center, Burin on Friday May 23, 2014, Edward Arthur Herridge of Grand Bank, age 75 years. Predeceased by parents George and Georgina Herridge, parents-in-law Gabriel and Lillian Peach, daughter Colette, grand daughter Skylar, brother Norman, brothers-in-law; Melvin Dolimount,and Wayne Peach. Leaving to mourn; wife Joyce, and daughter Vanessa, brother Walter (Betty), and sister Phyllis, brother and sisters in-law; Calvin (Dallas), Linda (Murdock), Ricky (Brenda), Sterling (Colleen), Madonna, Dorothy (Levi), Norm, Lisa, Kelly (Alvin), Shawn (Joyce), Rodney (Julie). Plus a large circle of other relatives and friends. Remains resting at Warren's Funeral Home Grand Bank on Saturday May 24th 1 pm-2 pm (family only). Public visitation 2 pm-4 pm and 7 pm-9 pm. Sunday May 25th 2 pm-4 pm and 7 pm-9 pm. Funeral service will take place on Monday May 26th at 2 pm from the Salvation Army Citadel, Grand Bank. Cremation to follow with inurnment to follow at the Salvation Army Cemetery at a later date. Donations in Edward's memory may be made to the family.

HILLIER, Emma Joyce
(January 10, 1931- May 31, 2014)

Passed peacefully away at the Burin Peninsula Health Care Center on Saturday May 31, 2014 Emma Joyce Hillier of Grand Bank age 83 years. Predeceased by husband Garfield, son Garfield , parents Edward and Elizabeth Lee, and brother George Chesley. Leaving to mourn; 3 daughters Eileen Harding (Terry), Vera Payne (Liew), Lisa Hillier (Terrance) all of Grand Bank. 5 sons Eli (Henrietta), Harold (Lillian), Max (Mary), Clyde (Bev) all of Grand Bank and Ross (Christine) of Fortune. 13 grandchildren, and 11 great- grandchildren. 2 brothers Henry Lee (Georgie) of Grand Bank, and Jerry Eli Lee (CM Bennett) of Ottawa. Plus a large circle of other relatives and friends. Remains resting at Warren's Funeral Home Grand Bank on Saturday May 31st 7 pm-9 pm ( Family Only), Sunday June 1st public visitation 2 pm-4 pm and 7 pm-9 pm, and Monday June 2nd 2 pm-4 pm and 7 pm-9 pm. Funeral service will take place on Tuesday June 3rd at 2 pm from the Salvation Army Citadel Grand Bank. Interment to follow at the Salvation Army Cemetery Grand Bank. (July 25, 1950 - May 4, 2014)

It is with great sadness the family of Roger Letemplier of Burin Bay announces his passing on at his residence on May 4, 2014, at the age of 63 years. Leaving to mourn wife Marie; sons Ben (Theresa) of Burin, Perry of Burin and Sheldon (Kira) of St. John's; daughters Gleena (Ben) of Burin and Beulah Crann of AB; sister Anne Letemplier; brothers Harold Letemplier (Margaret) and Will Letemplier plus a large circle of other family and friends. Predeceased by parents Anne and Albert and brothers Brian and Stan. Resting at Serenity Funeral Home, Burin Monday 2-4 PM Family only and 4-9 PM for Public and Tuesday 10 am to 9 pm. Mass of Christian Burial will take place on Wednesday at 10:30 am from St. Patrick's RC Church with interment following at RC Cemetery, Fox Cove. No Flowers By Request. It is with great sadness that the family of the late MARY PIERCEY of Fortune announces her passing at her home in Fortune, on Friday, May 23, 2014, at the age of 66. Leaving to mourn with fond and loving memories husband, Eric of 46 years, daughters, Margaret Piercey of Conception Bay South and Mary Piercey Lewis (Chris) of Iqaluit. sister, Lily Mansour of Pickering, ON; brother, George McAleer (Margaret) of Belfast, Northern Ireland; 2 grandchildren, Carter Lewis and Edward Lewis; plus a large circle of relatives and friends. She was predeceased by her parents, Edward and Mary McAleer.
