Burin Peninsula Obituaries
May 2008

The area includes from Terrenceville on down to Grand Bank, over to Lamaline, St. Lawrence, Burin, Marystown and down the Peninsula again to Boat Harbour. All the communities are not named but serves the whole of the Peninsula.

 

CLARKE, Ronald Morley
8/2/1939 - 5/30/2008

Passed suddenly away at his residence, Port au Bras on Friday, May 30, 2008 Morley Clarke of Port au Bras in his 68th year. Leaving to mourn wife Olive; son Scott and wife Trina of St. Johns; daughter Genny and husband Darrell Johnson of Ottawa; son-in-law Sandy Brushett of Ottawa; grandchildren Scotty Johnson, Faith Brushett, Cole Perry, Morley Clarke, Kyle Paul; sisters Jenny Smith of St. John s, Dorothy Bennett of Port au Bras, Thelma Evans and husband Angus of Port au Bras; Brother Thomas Clarke and wife Elizabeth of Port au Bras; sister-in-law Marina Clarke and Frances Clarke plus a large circle of family and friends. Predeceased by daughter Kimberly Brushett; sisters Gwen Brown; brother Herbert Clarke and Gerald Clarke. Resting at Serenity Funeral Home, burin on Saturday from 2pm to 7pm family only and from 7pm to 10pm open to public and Sunday from 10am to 10pm. Funeral service to take place on Monday at 2pm from St. Andrew s Anglican Church, Port au Bras with interment following at Anglican Cemetery, Port au Bras. CLUETT, Susie Rose
(April 10, 1939 - May 9, 2008)

Passed peacefully away at her residence in Grand Bank on Friday, May 9th, Susie Rose Cluett, age 69 years. Predeceased by parents Thomas and Alice Snook, sisters Marjorie, Harriett, Abby Belle, and Jessie, brothers George and Maurice. Leaving to mourn: husband Gordon of Grand Bank, daughter Dr.Joy Cluett-Stone (Jason) of St. John's, Thomas (Mildred) of Grand Bank, Bruce (Sharon) of Lower Sackville, Nova Scotia; 5 grandchildren, Timothy, Tyler, Stephen, Nicolas and Rebecca; brothers Major Don Snook (Leah) of Chance Cove, Charles Snook (Shirley) of St. John's and Maxwell Snook (Joan) of Grand Bank. Brothers-in-law Aubrey Cluett of Frenchman's Cove, Earl Cluett (Margaret) of Frenchman's Cove and Sidney Ingram of North Sidney, Nova Scotia; sister-in-law Evelyn Grandy (Gravis) of Winterland. Also a large circle of other relatives and friends. Remains resting at Warren's Funeral Home, Grand Bank on Friday from 7pm - 9pm, and on Saturday from 10am - 12noon; 2pm - 5pm; 7pm - 9pm. Funeral Service will take place on Sunday at 2pm from the Salvation Army, Grand Bank. Interment to follow at the Salvation Army Cemetery, Grand Bank. Donations in her memory may be made to the Salvation Army Cemetery Fund or to the Dr. H. Bliss Murphy Cancer Care Foundation. Leaving to mourn with loving memories wife Meta; daughters Karen and husband Rick Grandy of Garnish, Patricia and husband Derrick Hanrahan of Garnish; grandchildren Dana Grandy and Amy Hanrahan plus a large circle of other family and friends.Predeceased by parents Ralph and Caroline; brothers Ralph and Lorne; sister Mildred. Rev. Susan White officiated Funeral service on Friday, May 23, 2008 from United Church, Garnish with interment to follow at United Cemetery, Garnish.Pallbearers were David Grandy, Byron May, Wilfred Evans, Wilfred Green, Karl Moulton and Alpheaus Hardiman. Predeceased by husband Nathaniel; brother Charles Manning; parents Caroline and Malcolm Manning. Rev. Predeceased by parents Mary Hannah and George Hardiman and husband Joseph. Leaving to mourn: daughter Marilyn Miles (Frank) of Garnish, sons Byron (Pauline) of Garnish, Jerry (Joan) of Pickering, Ontario, and Winston (Flora) of Burin, 8 grandchildren, 10 great grandchildren, 2 brothers Alpheaus and Olive Hardiman of Garnish and John and Elizabeth (Jess) Hardiman of Garnish; 4 sisters Shirley Green (Wilfred) of Grand Bank, Elizabeth Scott of Garnish, Meta Grandy of Garnish and Georgie Fizzard (Norman) of Grand Bank. Also a circle of other relatives and friends. Remains resting at Garnish United Church at 6pm on Saturday and all day Sunday.
