The area includes from Terrenceville on down to Grand Bank, over to Lamaline, St. Lawrence, Burin, Marystown and down the Peninsula again to Boat Harbour. All the communities are not named but serves the whole of the Peninsula.

 

ADAMS, Jerry
Jerry Adams
aged 74 years passed peacefully away Friday, March 12, 2021 at his residence in Burin Bay, surrounded by his loving wife and family. Jerry is survived by his loving wife Shirley of 50 years; sister Ethel Hillier; brother Bob (Pat); sisters-in-law Rita Shore (Robert), Winnie Davidge, Mary May (George); sister-in-law Nancy Bambury; nieces Cathy Wicks (Gerald), Faye Sullivan (Peter), Yvonne O'leary (Kevin), Sara Mallard (Paul), Bernice Clarke (Bob), Natalie Bambury, Natasha May (Jules); nephews Bobby Shore (Kerri), Wade Shore, Andre May (Debbie), Stephen Bambury (Stephen), Andrew Bambury plus a large circle of family and friends. Jerry was an avid golfer at Grande Meadows since its opening in June 1995 normally he golfed with a team Morley, Leo, Jerry, Harvey & George and it was for the most part very competitive along with lots of humour and laughter. We would like to extend a huge thank-you to the Medical and Nursing staff at the Dr. H. Bliss Murphy Cancer Centre, his family Dr. Rowlands, staff at Daffodil Place and at the chemo room at the Burin Hospital. Donations in Jerry's may memory made be to Daffodil Place or Zion United Church. In keeping with Jerry wishes cremation has taken place, there will be no visitation at this time, a celebration of his life to be held at a later date. BRUSHETT, Magdalen
It is with great sadness that the family of Magdalen Brushett of Burin announces her passing at the Burin Peninsula Health Care Center on March 19, 2021 at the age of 84 years. Leaving to mourn husband George of 66 years; sons; Wayne (Beverley), Ray (Sue) and Gary (Paula); daughters twin girls Sheila and Shirley, Yvonne and Beverley Antle (Danny); 12 grandchildren; 9 great grandchildren; sisters Dora Clements and Rose; many nieces and nephews; best friends Theresa Edwards and Daphne and Eric Drake plus a large circle of other family and friends. Predeceased by parents Thomas and Sarah Osbourne; sisters Mary and Patricia Dunphy-Morrissey and brother William Osbourne. CHEESEMAN, Laura
It is with broken hearts that the family of the late Laura Cheeseman of Marystown announces her passing. Laura passed away at her home in Marystown on Tuesday, March 23, 2021 at the age of 78. Leaving to mourn with a lifetime of wonderful memories are her; sons, Wade Cheeseman of Marystown, and Brad Cheeseman (Vanessa) of Ft. McMurray, AB; daughters, Sandra Maidment (Walter) of St. John's, Kellie Pardy (Kevin) of Marystown, and Michelle Racine of Halifax, NS; 6 grandchildren, Jasmine Pardy, Mitchell Maidment, Jenna Racine, Joshua Pardy, Summer Racine, and Molly Cheeseman; sisters-in-law, Jayne Demeester (Mike) of ON, and Marilyn Lavery of ON; plus a large circle of relatives and friends. Laura was predeceased by her husband, Michael Cheeseman and her parents, Joseph and Violet Fitzpatrick. As per Laura's wishes, cremation will take place. The Cheeseman Family will be accepting visitors at Wiseman's Funeral Homes in Marystown on Saturday, March 27, 2021 from 11am to 4pm & 6pm to 8pm. Due to the current Covid-19 restrictions this will be a walk through visitation with a maximum of 20 people in the building at one time. Everyone is asked to sign the contact tracing sheet upon entering the building and masks are required. Please note that there is no food permitted in the funeral home.

It is with broken hearts that the family of the late Nora Cheeseman of Rushoon announces her passing. Nora passed away at her home in Rushoon on Sunday, March 7, 2021 at the age of 92. Leaving to mourn with a lifetime of wonderful memories are her daughters, Catherine Ricketts (Raymond) of Toronto, Lucy Cheeseman of Rushoon, Sheila Andrews (Jobie) of Medicine Hat, Annie Legge (Carl) of Burin, Jacqueline Timmons of Toronto, and Georgina Maloney (Jeff) of Toronto; 14 grandchildren, Earl, Mary, Krista, Rodney, Johnny, Tommy, Raymond, George, Geraldine, Lucille, Jackie, Leighann, Stephanie, and Scott; 24 great-grandchildren, Billy, Lisa, Nick, Carly, Jordan, Jonathan, Jay, Jesse, Lily, Lila, Alexandra, Kinsley, Taylor, Kode, Jobie, Rickey, Jackson, Madison, Alecia, Calum, Nora, Cassie, Jenny, and Aaron; brother, John Hann (Delores) of Rushoon; sister, Annie Christinson of Wisconsin, US; her special childhood best friend, Ann Whiffen; her card game buddies; and her homecare workers, Irene Ryan, April Cheeseman, and Allison Hynes; plus a large circle of extended family and friends. EDWARDS, Joseph (Joe)
The family of Joseph Edwards "Joe" announce his passing onto his heavenly reward on March 9, 2021. He is predeceased by his 2 fishing partners and fellow musicians - his dad, Julian, and his eldest brother and best friend, Paul. Despite his many years of health struggles, Joe had many talents and interests which he enjoyed along the way. A multi-instrument musician, he co-pioneered and played in many popular local bands. Excelling in school, he then studied to be an electrician. Joe was an excellent swimmer who rescued several drowning people. He liked outdoor sports, trouting, hunting and hiking into the country. He was a very tidy, organized person who did things with enthusiasm and precision. He loved all celebrations and special occasions, won many dart trophies and he valued the little things so much - like a card, a gift, a chat or a treat. He kept up to date with current events and liked watching his favourite hockey, music or comedy shows. He cherished the love of his family and faith, especially in the harder times. He was a very special person! Joe is greatly missed already by his devoted mom, Loretta; and his large loving family of brothers and sisters: Marie, Julian, Cecelia, Gerard, Tony, John, Gordon, Brian, Stella and Laura; his sisters-in-law: Sandy, Doris, Michelle, Ethel Ann; his brother-in-law, Pat; and his aunt Marie Higgins. Also lovingly remembered by his nieces and nephews: Mark, Ryan, Megan, Julian, Nicholas, and Paulina; as well as a large group of cousins, former band-mates, friends and kind people who prayed so much for Joe during his illnesses, extending from Lawn, St. John's and elsewhere. Thank you to the staff and workers at Bonaventure Retirement Home who Joe lived for his last 4 years, and to the doctors, nurses and staff of 4th Floor West at St. Clare's Mercy Hospital. A celebration of Joe's life and musical career, and a Mass of Christian burial will take place in Lawn at a later date. It is with deep sadness that the family of the late Joseph M. Farrell of Little Bay announces his passing. Joseph passed away at The Health Science Center in St. John's on Thursday, March 11, 2021 at the age of 76. Bonnie passed away at the Burin Peninsula Health Care Centre in Burin on Monday, March 22, 2021, at the age of 63. Leaving to mourn with a lifetime of wonderful memories are her husband of 33 years, Chris Foote; son, Daniel Foote; mother, Effie Shave; sisters, Judy (Perry) Nickerson of Middle Sackville,NS, Kim (Howard) Babb of Kanata, ON; brother Rick (Sharon) Shave of Winterland; parents-in-law Boyd and Millicent Foote; brothers-in-law and sisters-in-law; nieces and nephews; plus a large circle of extended family and friends. Leaving to mourn with fond and loving memories are children; Claude (Marie) of Grand Bank & Hartley Jr. (Lorraine) of St. John's; Eileen Barnes of Fortune, Lucy Green of Mount Pearl, Joyce of Cambridge, ON and Shirley (Bruce) of Atlin, BC; 16 grandchildren; 25 great-grandchildren; special friend, Martha Nichol; plus a large circle of relatives and friends.

The family of Corella (Cora) Hatch formerly of Grand Bank regretfully announces her passing at Agnes Pratt Care Home in St. John's, NL on March 3, 2021 at the age of 90. Cora was born August 18, 1930 in Anderson's Cove, NL. She will be fondly and lovingly remembered by her daughters, Patricia Hatch and Linda (Roger) Emberley; sons, Gary (Joanne) Hatch, Derrick (Andrea) Hatch and Roger (Paulette) Hatch; 12 grandchildren, 13 great grandchildren, 3 sisters, 3 brothers, and a large circle of extended family and friends. Leaving to mourn with fond and loving memories are children; Corey of Lamaline, Colin (Constance) of Lamaline and Nicholas of Halifax, NS; step-daughter, Renee Strickland of Lamaline; sisters, Marion Lake, Barbara Harnett, Beatrice Lockyer (Jim); brother, Walter King (Theresa); 6 grandchildren, Chloe, Coby, Christopher, Charly, CJ and Bradi; 1 step-grandson, Aaron; very special friend, Raymond Martin; plus a large circle of relatives and friends. It is with great sadness that the family of Elizabeth (Betty) Mullett of Burin announces her passing at the Burin Peninsula Health Care Centre on March 25, 2021 at the age of 88 years. Leaving to mourn with fond and loving memories her children Jim (Barbara), Brenda McCarthy (Larry), Vince (Veva), Brendan (Janet), Edith Landry (Jacques), Pad (Leona), Chris (Donna), Philip (Sharon) and Pam Hollett (Brad); 18 grandchildren; 3 great grandchildren, plus a large circle of relatives and friends. Predeceased by husband Patrick; 5 brothers and 1 sister. Visitation to take place on Friday the 26th from 2pm-4pm & 7pm-9pm at Serenity Funeral Home,with a maximum of 20 people in funeral home at one time. and Private Funeral Mass from St. Patrick's RC Church, Burin with interment following at RC Cemetery, Fox Cove. It is with great sadness that the family of Rose Mary Marie Hause Myles of St. Lawrence announces her passing at the Burin Peninsula Health Care Center on Saturday, March 27, 2021 at the age of 65 years. Leaving to mourn loving husband Cecil of 38 years; brother Maxwell; Janet (Fred), Maxine (Leon), Beatrice (Randy), Mae, Bertha (Gerald); brothers Maxwell, Don (Wanda), Henry, Melvin (Linda) & Bill (Lillian); sister-in-laws Bertha, Florence, Ester & Elsie; special friend Viola; and plus a large circle of other family and friends. It is with great sadness that the family of Austin Pearson of Rushoon, announces his passing at his residence in Rushoon at the age of 71 years. Leaving to mourn wife of 47 years Joan Pearson (Dicks) of Rushoon, son Jason of St. John's; daughters Stephanie Pearson (Tony Jones) of Rushoon, Lindsey Pearson of Rushoon; 2 grandchildren Riley and Rachel who were his pride and joy's; sisters Rosita Best (Paddy), Theresa Whiffen (James); brothers Aubrey (Maureen), Gerald (Trudy), Freddy (Rhonda), Michael; sister-in-law Anne Flynn plus a large circle of other family and friends. It is with great sadness that the family of Gerard Poulain of Burin announces his passing at his residence on March 21, 2021 at the age of 57 years. Leaving to mourn with fond and loving memories wife Bernice; son Damien Dibbon (Samantha) of Burin and Devon Dibbon; grandchildren Danika Dibbon, Kayleigh, Kassandra, Kianna and Klaire; sisters Emily Frizzell (Jim), Geraldine Hickman, Mary Poulain (Lorne) and Florence Harding (Tim); brothers James (Juanita), Gus (Kathleen), Clarence, Peter (Marcella) and Joey (Susan); many nieces and nephews plus a large circle of other family and friends. ROCHE, Suzanne Patricia
Suzanne Patricia Roche
, 57 of Burin passed away suddenly in her home on Tuesday, March 9, 2021. Susanne was a strong, wonderful, kind loving sister and aunt. She had a love for numbers, sewing, collecting and travelling. Her career took her to Toronto where she spent 29 years working for Revenue Canada, retiring in 2017. Suzanne retired to her family home in Burin and there spent her final days. Suzanne is survived by her sister, Jacqueline (Craig) Moulton; and treasured nephews Ryan and Michael. Suzanne was predeceased by her parents Patrick and Lynette Roche (nee Penney), and sister Anne Roche. She will be missed by countless friends, aunts, uncles & cousins. In keeping with Suzanne cremation has taken place, there will be visitation at this time, a celebration of life to be held at a later date.

It is with great sadness that the family of the late Christine (Chris) Rose of Marystown, NL, announces her passing at her home in Marystown, surrounded by her loving family, on Saturday, March 27, 2021 at the age of 74.
Christine is predeceased by her parents Lester and Eva Rose, brother William Paul and parents in law John and Daisy Rose. Leaving to mourn with a lifetime of wonderful memories are her husband of 54 years, Everett, daughters Gail Harding (Melvin), Mooring Cove and Tara Rose, Marystown; 3 grandchildren, Bradley, Cassandra and Kimberley; 2 great-grandchildren, Paige and Emma; brother Don Paul (Dottie), BC, sister Debbie Hamer (Melva), NS, brother in law Guy Rose (Colleen), Norris Point, sister in law Phyllis Boone, Whitehorse, NT; and a large number of relatives and friends. The Rose Family will accept visitors at Peninsula Funeral Home in Creston South on Monday, April 5th, from 2 pm - 4 pm and 7 pm - 9 pm. A maximum of 20 people at any one time is permitted. In order to maintain social distancing and to follow the public health advisory of COVID 19, a private walk through visitation will take place on. A funeral service will be held at Peninsula Funeral Home, Creston South on a date to be decided, with inurnment to follow at the St. Michael's/St. Mary's Anglican Cemetery in Creston South. As per COVID - 19 regulations, everyone is asked to sign the contact tracing sheet upon entering the building and masks are required. Please note that there is no food permitted in the building. No flowers by request of the family, but donations, in Christine's memory, may be made to the SPCA or the Salvation Army Food Drive, Creston South.

SCOTT, Mabel
It is with broken hearts that the family of the late Mabel Scott of Grand Bank announces her passing. Mabel passed away at the St. Clare's Hospital in St. John's on Friday, March 19, 2021, at the age of 69. Leaving to mourn with a lifetime of wonderful memories are her husband Riley of 29 years; son, Jason Rose (Karen Power) of Marystown; grand daughter, Chloe Moulton; sisters, Florence Roberts (Junior), Melita Goods; brothers, Eric Rose, Archibald Rose (Roberta), Gordon Rose (Eleanor) Doug Rose (Gloria); sisters in law, Doris Rose, Rita Organ, Sadie Scott, Alice Stapleton (Paul), Eva Osmond (Garland); brothers in law, Bill Scott (Ruth), Dorman Scott (Shirley), Phil Stapleton (April); plus a large circle of extended family and friends. Mabel was predeceased by her parents, Reginald and Emily Rose; brother, William Rose; sister in law, Thelma Rose, brother in law, Gordon Goods; parents in law, Philip and Berthana Scott. In keeping with the current Covid 19 regulations there will be a walk through visitation at Wiseman's Funeral Home, Grand Bank on Tuesday, March 30, 2021 from 10:00 am to 12:00 pm, 2:00 pm to 4:00 pm and 7:00 pm to 9:00 pm. SHEPPARD Mary Alice
1930 - March 14, 2021

It is with great sadness that we announce the passing of our dear mother, grandmother and great-grandmother, Mary Alice Sheppard at the age of 90. She was born in Terrenceville and was the last member of the immediate family of William and Mary Coombs (Clarke). She met our father, Gerald, on Bell Island where they were married for almost 58 years until his passing in 2009. She is now reunited with him and their beloved son, Rick who was lost in the Ocean Ranger disaster. Leaving to mourn her passing are her children: Nathaniel (Maureen); Daphne (Doug Alley); Wayne (Mary); Sharon (Derrick Green - deceased), and Gerald (Debbie). Mother's absolute pride was in her grandchildren- Craig Sheppard; Gina Fitzgerald; Jessica Sheppard, Natalie and Rachael Green; Matthew and Ian Sheppard; Ryan and Kevin Alley, and her great grandchildren Eric and Justin Fitzgerald; Alana Sheppard; Levi Sheppard and William Alley. Special thanks to her Bell Island caregivers, Doris Kent and Cynthia Crane; the staff of Meadow Creek Retirement Center, and St. Patrick's Mercy Home staff for the kindness shown during her short stay there. Mother will be missed by her large circle of friends and relatives. It is with broken hearts that Mommy, Daddy and entire family of baby girl Avery announce her passing. Their precious little girl passed away at her home in Marystown on Wednesday, March 10, 2021. Leaving to mourn are her parents, Michael Stoodley and Kimberley Pittman; big sister, Savannah; grandparents, Vanessa Power (Colin), Corina Hunt (Philip), Paul Stoodley (Nicole), and Albert Mayo (Crystal); great-grandparents, Gertie Stoodley, Wayne Stoodley, and Henry Hunt (Marie); great-great-grandmother, Ella Stoodley; uncles, Tanner Power (Keisha), Nick Power, and Mitchell Stoodley; aunt Emily Power; special cousin, Luke Power; plus a large circle of relatives and friends.
Avery was predeceased by great-grandparents, Lucy Pittman and Aloysius Power; great-great-grandfather, Gordon Stoodley. WISCOMBE, Charlie Forward
Passed away peacefully on Friday, March 19, 2021 at the Burin Peninsula Health Care Centre, Charlie Forward Wiscombe of Winterland in his 91st year. Leaving to mourn with loving and precious memories loving wife Carol; sons Glen (Linsey) of Winterland, David (Peggy) of Calgary, AB, Albert of Doyles, NL; step-daughter Donna (David Rouselle) of Newmarket, ON; stepson David (Jennifer Brett) of Sterling, ON; 12 grandchildren & 9 great-grandchildren; son-in-law Clarence Myers of Paradise, NL; sisters-in-law Ida Wiscombe of Creston, Ida (Charles Hollett) and Rebecca Beasley of London, ON plus a large circle of other family and friends. Predeceased by parents James & Gladys Wiscombe; wives Della Joyce & Alice Smith; daughter Joyce Myers; daughter-in-law Helen Wiscombe; brothers Alvin, Bill & Sam; sister Molly.
Charlie will always be remembered for his love of the Newfoundland outdoors where he spent many years fishing and enjoying their cabin. He was a devoted family man and shared his love of nature with those around him. He was loved by all who knew him. Due to Covid-19 regulations a private family visitation and funeral service will be taking place. In lieu of flowers donations in his memory may be made to Grace United Church, Winterland. Funeral arrangements will be entrusted to Serenity Funeral Home, Burin.
