(1931-2014)

It is with great sadness that the family of the late Bertram S. Banfield of Bay L'Argent announces his passing at the Agnes Pratt Home in St. John's on Sunday, June 15, 2014, at the age of 83. Leaving to mourn with fond and loving memories are sons, Melvin (Marion) of Mount Pearl and Max of Bay L'Argent; daughter, Wanda Banfield of Mount Pearl; sister, Cora Perry of Bay L'Argent; brother, Melvin Banfield of Bay L'Argent; 4 grandchildren, Jennifer, Meghan, Travis and Tyler; 1 great-grandchild, Troy; plus a large circle of relatives and friends. He was predeceased by his wife, Triffenia Banfield. Passed away at the US Memorial Hospital Elizabeth Rose Hardiman of Garnish on June 4, 2014, age 85 years. Leaving to mourn husband William (John), brother Hubley (Carrie) Grandy, sister-in-law Helen Grandy. Special nieces; Thelma (Ron) Keeping, and Darlene (Steven) Stacey. Plus a large circle of other relatives and friends. Remains resting at the Garnish United Church on Thursday June 5th from 7 pm-9 pm, and Friday June 6th from 2 pm-4 pm and 7 pm- 9 pm. Funeral service will take place on Saturday June 7th at 2 pm from Garnish United Church. Interment to follow at the Garnish United Church Cemetery. HOWE, ANNE MARIE
(1922-2014)

Passed peacefully away at the Placentia Health Care Centre, surrounded by love, Ms. Annie (Slaney) Edwards-Howe, in her 92nd year. Predeceased by her parents, Thomas and Mary Agnes Slaney; sister, Isabelle; brother, John, David, Lawrence and George; her husband, Michael Edwards (1983) and son Michael Edwards Jr. Also predeceased by her grandson Leo Quilty Jr. and daughter, Christina Duke; brother-in-law, Alfred; sisters-in-law, Leone (Slaney) Dober and Lucy Slaney. Mourning her passing while celebrating her life are her daughter, Marion (Ben Bonnell); sons, Mike (Alice), Gary (Leah), Paul (Lisa) and Norm (Sue); her brother, Bob (Jule); son-in-law, Cyril Duke and her devoted husband, Michael Howe and his family, especially Rose, Katherine (Fergus), Ellen Therese (Ed), Laura (Bruce), Ed (Gail), Louvourne and John (Daphne). She leaves behind a legacy of 16 grandchildren and 15 great-grandchildren, as well as many nieces and nephews. Annie spent 13 years at the Gateway Residence in Dunville where she leaves behind her special friend, Elizabeth Cheeseman and all her friends and caregivers, especially Margie and Denise. Annie was a kind, gentle, but strong woman who enjoyed life's simple pleasures and who loved her family above all else. No words can ever express how greatly she will be missed. Resting and visitation will take place from St. Thomas Aquinas Roman Catholic Church in St. Lawrence, on Saturday, June 21st, from 12:00 p.m. to 9:00 p.m. and Sunday, June 22nd, all day; from where the Mass of Christian will take place on Monday, June 23rd, at 11:00 a.m. Interment will follow at Mount Cecilia Roman Catholic Cemetery. It is with great sadness the family of Edith Kirby of Burin announces her passing at her home on June 17, 2014, at the age of 82 years. Leaving to mourn with fond and loving memories husband William; sons Jerry (Muriel) of St. John's, Alvin (Betty) of Edmonton, Wade (Lynn) of Burin and Ford (Ericka) of Marystown; daughters Lois Brennan (Mike) of Marystown, Trudy Lambe (Glenn) of Halifax and Paula Walsh (Daryl) of Marystown; 10 grandchildren; 3 great grandchildren; sisters Cora Baker (Gordon) and Mildred O'Neill plus a large circle of other relatives and friends.Predeceased by infant son William and grandson Robert Brennan. PIKE, MILDRED CATHERINE
(1925-2014)
Mildred C. Pike
, beloved wife, mother, grandmother, great grandmother passed peacefully away on the evening of June 12, 2014, at the US Memorial Hospital in St. Lawrence, at the age of 88 years. Mildred, affectionately called "Millie" to those that knew her, was a dedicated wife to Levi, and a devoted and loving mother to their 11 children- Maxine (Rene) Fowler, Vi (Gerald) Fitzpatrick, Diane (Brian) Campbell, Marlene (Robert Parizeau) Pike, Connie (Sean Roche) Pike, Levi Jr., Donna (Steve) McCullough, Debbie Pike, Cate Pike, and Valerie (Mark Lavin) Pike. Millie was predeceased by her dear husband Levi, of 68 years in 2013, and their son Perry in 1967. Millie was also predeceased by her parents Alice and Edgar, and her siblings Mabel, Stanley, Beatrice, Edith, Shirley, John Robert, Reginald, Douglas, and Verna. Also mourning Millie's passing are her 21 grandchildren, 21 great-grandchildren, and two great-great grandchildren. Millie personified the true meaning of family and motherhood. She had a great affinity for children and a kind and caring nature. She showed great pride in raising her children, being the ultimate "homemaker", and she travelled frequently to spend time with her loved ones. Second to that was her passion for the game of hockey. It was not unusual to have a houseful of family and friends on a Saturday evening to watch "Hockey Night in Canada". Millie also enjoyed playing cards, knitting, and hosting many special family dinners around her dining room table. She had a quick wit and loved to laugh and have fun. Millie always found time to help others and to support community fundraisers. A celebration and service for Millie's life will take place at 2:00 pm on Monday, June 16th, 2014 at St. Matthew's Anglican Church in St. Lawrence, NL. Predeceased by grandfather George Burt, and grandparents James and Elizabeth House. Leaving to mourn; son Brandon, partner Ken Hynes. Parents Elieen House, father Rudolph House (Donna), sister Margo (Wade), grandmother Leona Burt,& nephew Steven. Plus step sisters & step brothers; Tracey (George), Cindy (Wayne), Jamie (Lisa), Rodney ( ), plus a large circle of other relatives & friends.
