Tribute To Ethel Burfitt by Daughter Sue Smith
A tribute to my Mom-My Best Friend
My precious, darling Mom always put others before herself. She deeply loved her family and all of her friends wholeheartedly. Mom may have been small in stature at a height of 4ft 9in….However, her personality, charm, compassion was mighty big. Mom and her friends enjoyed a game of cards, the laughter and fun they had was wonderful. Mom loved to have gatherings of family and friends in the basement. She hosted birthday parties and doted on everyone to make sure they had lots of food and drink.
Mom's favourite time of year was summer; that's when her nephew could visit from Ontario. That's when the Basement Band performed (Fred and Mary Rose and Carl and Shirley Rose). Accordion, guitars, harmonica, song sheets, speakers…..the whole show. Lots of laughs and good times and a few dances had by all.
My mother was an exceptional person. She touched so many people's lives and hearts. The outpouring of sympathy we've received is a testament to how special my Mom was to so many people. I was so blessed to have such an amazing Mom; as I told her many times throughout her illness, she will always live in my heart. Our affectionate response to one another was always "LOVES YEA".
Rest in peace my beautiful Mom. I'll see you on the other side someday and we'll be together again

A couple who rarely spent time apart, Imelda and Al spent their lives putting family and faith first ensuring that generations to come would understand the importance of the joy and love they created together. We will continue celebrating their memory knowing they are finally back together after perhaps the longest separation of their lifelong love story. Joan will always be remembered for her kindness, generosity and compassion which truly defined the person that she was. She was always full of life and energy, wearing an infectious smile that could light up any room and fill it with joy. Joan was actively involved in community volunteering and always looking for an opportunity to help others. She was an amazing daughter, sister, wife, mother and grandmother. Her family was her world and she loved them immensely. A love that will be missed forever. In the face of a horrible prognosis, Joan never did give up or lose hope.
