MANNING, JOHN BENEDICT
Passed peacefully away on July 9th, 2017 after a tragic accident, John Benedict Manning, age 57. Originally from Burin, NL, John lived in Iqaluit for the past 25 years. Leaving to mourn, wife Geneva Chislett and Daddy's girl Katie Chislett Manning. Also mourning, his father, John S. Manning, brother, Henry Manning (Mary) and sister, Marie Foote (Roland). Predeceased by his mother Catherine Manning, his sister Catherine "Kit" Manning, his brother Benedict Manning and infant sister Theresa Jean Manning. Lovingly remembered by many nieces, nephews, great nieces and nephews, sisters and brothers-in-law. John had a very large circle of friends, including his employees at KCM Maintenance and Construction, both of whom he considered family. John had a very strong sense of community; nothing made him feel better than to give a helping hand to anyone who needed it. To say that John had a large zest for life would be an understatement. His love for the outdoors stretched from winter to summer, whether it was skidooing or boating, with one of his favorite places being his cabin in Burton Bay. His love for his home province was very evident in his choice of traditional Newfoundland music and the fulfillment he received from filling bellies with a good "scoff". During his frequent visits to Newfoundland, you could find John at his cabin in Carbonear, spending time with his special friends from Gunners Pond or in his hometown of Burin visiting close family and friends. A service in John's memory to be held in Newfoundland at a later date. For those wishing, donations to the Niqinik Nuatsivik Food Bank (PO Box 2085, Iqaluit, NU X0A 0H0) are greatly appreciated.
