Burin Peninsula Obituaries

The area includes from Terrenceville on down to Grand Bank, over to Lamaline, St. Lawrence, Burin, Marystown and down the Peninsula again to Boat Harbour.
All the communities are not named but serves the whole of the Peninsula.

 

BRAKE, VINCENT
1947-2012
It is with great sadness that the family of the late VINCENT BRAKE of Spanish Room announces his passing at his home on Sunday, July 1, 2012 at the age of 65. Leaving to mourn with fond and loving memories are wife Mary Jo of 40 years; sons Glen of Spanish Room, Vince (Trina) of Paradise, NL, and Kenny (Tiffany) of Fort McMurray, AB; sister Monie Slaney (Hugie); brothers Bernard (Essie), Gordon (Lucile); brother-in-law Leo Slaney; and grandchildren Zachary and Jaxon; plus a large circle of family and friends. Predeceased by his parents Ambrose and Elizabeth; sister Louisa Slaney. Resting and visitation to take place from Wiseman's Funeral Homes in Marystown on Sunday July 1st from 6 pm - 9 pm; Monday, July 2nd from 12 noon - 3:00 pm and 6:00 - 9:00 pm; and Tuesday, July 3rd from 10:00 am - 12 noon. Prayer Vigil will be held on Monday, July 2nd at 8:00 pm from Wiseman's Funeral Home. Mass of Christian Burial will take place from Sacred Heart R.C. Leaving to mourn with fond and loving memories are sons Maurice (Patricia) of Toronto, John (Rita) of Toronto, Rene (Beverley) of Fortune, Donatious of Toronto, Lawrence (Julie) of Toronto and Patrick (Donna) of Lethbridge, AB; daughters Bridget Lockyer of Lamaline, Elizabeth (William) Foote of Toronto, Cathrine Sutton of Toronto, Mary (Piercy) Holloway of Glovertown, Pauline Drake (Wesley Earle) of Toronto, Maureen (Wade) Sutton of Toronto, and Annette (Claude) Saunders of Toronto; 33 grandchildren; 33 great-grandchildren and 5 great-great-grandchildren; plus a large circle of family and friends. Pre-deceased by husband Donatious Coady. Passed away at the Blue Crest Nursing Home, Grand Bank on Thursday July 26, 2012, Merrill Follett of Grand Beach, age 87 years. Predeceased by son Andrew, parents Alex and Susie Follett; brothers Manuel and Scott, and sister Esther. Leaving to mourn: wife Emma, son Russell (Holly), grandsons Andrew and Bryton at Grand Beach; daughter Viola (Jerry) Goodyear at Creston South; grandson Perry and great grandaughter Robin at Grand Bank; sisters Laura at Frenchman's Cove, Anna at Antigonish, NS and Almeta at Grand Bank; brother Alex at Antigonish. HOOPER, GEORGE
1955-2011

George passed away peacefully at his home in Rainbow Lake, Alberta (formerly of Marystown, NL) following a courageous battle with cancer on July 23, 2011. George will forever be remembered and missed by his loving wife Annette of 36 years. His beloved children, son Edward (Shawna) Hopper, daughter Lenora (Andy) Randell, daughter Trista (Steven) Stranaghan; treasured grandchildren: Colin, Kodi, Kimberly, Keira, Logan, Brooke, Gage, Blaire and Georgia; devoted brother and sister-in-law Dave and Rose Hooper along with countless other friends and family who were blessed to know him. George was predeceased by his parents Fred and Gladys Hooper and brothers Willis and Alfred Hooper. George touched the lives of many people with his smile and generosity; and maintained his trademark sense of humour all the way to the end. Predeceased by parents George Thomas & Mary Ellen Pardy; wife Ethel, son Roger, son-in-law Onslow Baker; brothers Merril, Edgar, Jerry, sisters Winnifred & Abagail. Leaving to mourn: 5 children, Vivian Brady(Harry), Audrey Baker, Carl Pardy(Aurine), Ruth Holloway(Hiram), Greta Miller.Brothers Levi & Thomas, 16 grandchildren, 19 great grandchildren, 7 great great grandchildren. Leaving to mourn: wife Patsy; son Michael (Valarie), grandson Cameron at Grand Bank; daughter Michelle(Terry), grandson Clarke at Grand Bank; daughter Meghan (Jeff) at Halifax, and Loyal Companion Casey; sister Ann (Sim) Miller at Grand Bank, brother William (Ruby) at St. John's, brother Arthur (Mary) at BC.,brothers-in-law Wayne (Winnie) Tibbo at Mount Pearl, William Tibbo (Clara) at Grand Bank; sister-in-law Ella (Alec) Noseworthy at Fortune. (July 27, 1932 - July 31, 2012)
Passed away at the Burin Peninsula Health Care Centre on Tuesday, July 31, 2012, Felix G. Warren of Grand Bank, age 80 years. Predeceased by parents, Levi & Sarah Warren and brother Clarence, and sisters Bertha and Marie; Leaving to mourn: brothers, Lee (Betty), Cecil, Bill (Judy), nephew David Warren, and nieces Susan Butler and Denise Sargeant. Also a circle of other relatives and friends. Cremation will take place on Thursday, August 2 2012. Inurnment will take place at a later date.
