Burin Peninsula Obituaries

The area includes from Terrenceville on down to Grand Bank, over to Lamaline, St. Lawrence, Burin, Marystown and down the Peninsula again to Boat Harbour. All the communities are not named but serves the whole of the Peninsula.

(June 15, 1921 - July 21, 2009)

Passed peacefully away at his home on Tuesday, July 21, 2009 Gordon Brown of Port au Bras in his 88th year. Leaving to mourn sisters Rita Courage of St. John's, Mildred Hollett of Marystown and Alice King and husband Austin of Musgravetown; brother John Brown of Chamberlains, St. John's; nephews and nieces plus a large circle of other family and friends. Predeceased by wife Irene and son Gabriel. Rev'd Robert officiated funeral service from St. Andrew's Anglican Church, Port au Bras on Friday, July 24, 2009 with interment following at St. Andrew's Cemetery, Port au Bras. Pallbearers were Robert Trowbridge, Joe Abbott, Alex Hartson, Harvey Hollett, Don Brown and Lee Brown. Leaving to mourn with fond and loving memories sons Peter (Mary) of Marystown, Austin (Margaret Rose) of Marystown, Edward of Toronto, ON, Michael (Jackie) of Marystown, David (Debbie) of Toronto, ON, and Gerald (Juanita) of Marystown; daughters Anne Marie (Tom) Hodder of Marystown, Regina (Bill) Peach of Marystown, Alice (Winse) Chislett of Marystown, Bride (Bruce) Ducey of Marystown, Margaret (Marven) Grandy of Garnish, Elizabeth (Charlie) Lake of Baine Harbour, and Beatrice (Barry) Kelly of Toronto, ON; sisters Margaret Powell of Marystown, and Elizabeth Goodridge of Lewins Cove; brothers Eugene Power of Alberta, and Michael Power of Marystown; 23 grandchildren; 18 great-grandchildren; her many friends at the Golden Age Seniors Club; plus a large circle of family and friends.
