Jane grew up with three siblings: two sisters and a brother. After finishing high school, Jane attended college at Memorial University in St. Johns, Newfoundland and Mount Allison University in New Brunswick, graduating with a degree in English. She then worked at several jobs, including teaching secondary school in Bermuda, working in a bank in Nova Scotia, and working on the American airbase in Goose Bay, Labrador during the Korean war. It was in Goose Bay that she met Harold Bjorkman, an officer in the American Air Force who would become her husband. Jane and Harold were married in 1952 after Jane moved to Portland, Oregon (USA), Harold's hometown. They had two children, Curtis and Pamela. Jane was known for her humor and charm and her impeccable sense of fashion. She and Harold traveled around most of the American west with their children, and enjoyed trips to Europe and other destinations after the children were grown. Jane proved to be quite adventurous in her travels, visiting Nepal, China, and other parts of Asia in the early 1980s. When Harold developed Alzheimer's Disease in the mid 1980s, she looked after him until his death in 1989. During this time, she found time for one of her greatest passions, ballroom dancing, including entering tournaments and winning prizes. She also enjoyed playing bridge and tending to the roses in front of her home in Portland. She moved to Pasadena in 2013 to be closer to her daughter. Jane is survived by her daughter Pamela Bjorkman (Altadena, CA), son-in-law Kai Zinn (Altadena, CA), grandchildren Leif Zinn-Brooks (Santa Monica, CA), Katya Zinn (Somerville, MA), granddaughter-in-law Heather Zinn-Brooks (Santa Monica, CA), sisters Helen Milley (St. John's, NL) and Amelia Nason (Victoria, BC), sister-in-law Marion Forsey (St. John's, NL), and nieces and nephews Gary Nason (Victoria, BC), Hazel Milley (St. John's, NL), Laraine Davey (Vancouver, BC), Ruth Kelly (Upper Port La Tour, NS), Robert Forsey (Goose Bay, NL), and Anne Mack (St. John's, NL).
