ABBOTT, GRETA
(1926-2016)

It is with great sadness that the family of the late GRETA ABBOTT of Mortier announces her passing at The U.S. Memorial Health Care Centre in St. Lawrence, on Tuesday, January 5, 2016, at the age of 89. Leaving to mourn with fond and loving memories are sons Pryniece (Mary) Ceaser of Massachusetts, Fred (Helen) Abbott of Burin Bay Arm, Austin (Evelyn) Abbott of Muddy Hole, Cyril (Alice) Abbott of Roaches Line, George (Mary) Abbott of Port Aux Bras, Bruce (Rita) Abbott of Mortier, and Bill Abbott (Bernadine Lundrigan) of Marystown; daughters Eleanor (David) Locke of Muddy Hole, and Roberta Brenton of Muddy Hole; 16 grandchildren; 21 great-grandchildren; and 1 great-great grandson; plus a large circle of relatives and friends. Predeceased by her husband Curtis Abbott, son Brian Todd, daughter Glenda Alice and son-in-law David Brenton. ANTLE, Steven
It is with great sadness the family of Steven Antle of Burin announces his passing at St. Clare's Hospital, St. John's on January 30, 2016, at the age of 37 years. Leaving to mourn wife Amy Antle, mother Grace Antle; brother Edmund Antle (Yvonne Parrell); son Dylan Antle; daughter April Antle; step sons Justin Butler and Jimmy Moores plus a large circle of other family and friends. Predeceased by father Norbert Antle Sr. ; brother Norbert Antle Jr. and sister Lillian Antle. According to his wishes cremation have taken place. Vistation Wednesday 2-9pm and Thursday from 10am to 9pm at Serenity Funeral Home, Burin. Funeral Mass will take place at St. Patrick's RC Church, Burin on Friday, February 5th at 10AM with inurnment following at RC Cemetery, Fox Cove.

BONNELL, Robert George
Passed peacefully away surrounded by his loving family, Robert George Bonnell at the Bay St. George Long Term Care, Stephenville Crossing on Wednesday, January 27, 2016 at the age of 94 years. He leaves to mourn with fond and loving memories his sons: Lloyd, Arch "Roy" (Gwyneth), Keith (Sharon) and Glenn (Carolyn); grandchildren: Heidi (Joseph), Kip, Rebecca (Gerald), Simon (Catherine), Zachary, Laura, Amber and Allison; great-grandchildren: Owen, Oliver, Bennett and Jonah; sisters: Joyce, Anna (Charles) and Vera (Stan); brothers: Leo (Marion), Tom (Masie), Lowell (Pam) and George (Donna); as well as a large circle of nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends. He was predeceased by his loving wife Rita (Ayers), father Leo Robert Bonnell, mother Hannah, step-mother Julia Bonnell, brothers Lewis, Reginald and Bert, sisters Ella, Ivy and Jessie. Born in Lamaline, NL, Robert moved to Corner Brook and was a long time employee of Bowaters and was well known for his devotion to his wife, Rita, family and friends, his generosity, and his musical talents. DODGE, Florence (nee Kearley)
(Born: November 1st, 1923 Passed on: January 12th, 2016)

Originally from Bay d' Leau and later of Grand Bank, passed peacefully away at James Paton Memorial Hospital at 8:10 am at a vibrant 92 years of age. Predeceased by her husband, Otto Dodge (Feb 9, 1959) lost at sea off the Grand Banks on the Blue Wave; a tragedy which took several of Florence's relatives including an uncle, a brother, many cousins and friends of the family. Also predeceased by her son Maurice Dodge (July 19, 2011), parents Thomas and Tryphena Kearley, brothers Wilson, Arthur, Reg, Max and Howard, and sisters Angela and Sarah. Left to mourn with fond memories are daughters Shirley Hedges (Reginald) and Mary Dodge, daughter-in-law Annie Dodge, brother Maurice Kearley of Fortune, sister-in-law Joyce Kearley of Winnipeg, MB, grandchildren Tina Hedges (Rick Sheppard), Paul Hedges (Lisa), Jason Hedges (Joanne Power), Kim Primmer (Jamie), great-grandchildren Thomas Hedges, Chase and Reese Sheppard, Kenna and Rowan Hedges, Christopher Power, and Michael, Josh and Kearley Primmer, plus many other relatives and close friends of the family. Florence spent the latter part of her adult years in Gander, NL engrossed in her family's care, a dedicated mother, grandmother and great-grandmother. Fiercely independent with a witty sense of humor and a keen spiritual awareness, Florence's smile could light up a room and she brought joy to the lives of all those who knew her. The family would like to thank her home care workers and the medical staff who attended to her, with a special thank you to Dr. Carmel Casey and Lillian Paul. HICKMAN, THOMAS ALEXANDER, OC, QC, LLB, LLD Passed away peacefully at his home in the presence of family after a courageous battle with cancer on January 10, 2016. Predeceased by his parents Percival and Myrtle and brother John. Leaving to mourn with loving and lasting memories are his wife of 62 wonderful years Nancy (nee Mews), children Sandy (Karen), Heather (John), Harry (Andrea) and Peter (Cindy). Mourning the loss of Poppy and Grandad are Scott, Alex, Meredith, Robert, Rebecca, Colin and Stuart. Also mourning are his brother-in-law Hank Mews (Phyllis), sister-in-law Mickey Hickman, nieces, nephews and friends, including special friends, the MacDonald family, members of his bridge club, and the Churchill Square "caucus", along with everyone who had the pleasure of meeting him. Born and raised in the Town of Grand Bank, Alex never forgot his roots, even as he embarked on a long and remarkable career as a lawyer, politician and Chief Justice of the Supreme Court of Newfoundland and Labrador Trial Division. He enjoyed a full and rewarding life and touched many people along the way, leaving everyone that he met with a smile on their face and a fond memory. His achievements in life are many, but none approach his life as husband, father and grandfather; these were roles that he truly cherished. A special thank you to those who cared for Alex in his final weeks - Dr. Mercedes Penton, Helen Lawrence, Daphne McGrath and Vivienne Ryan and the Community Health Team; his family took great comfort in knowing his care was in your hands. It is with great sadness the family of Evelyn Leaman announces her passing at her residence in Burin on January 31st at the age of 78 years. Leaving to mourn daughter Lisa Moffatt (Raymond Purchase) of CBS; sons Jim Leaman (Elizabeth) of Greenwood, NS, Geoff Leaman of Hamilton, ON and John Leaman (Deborah) of Hamilton, ON; grandchildren Matthew (Leona) and Paul Leaman, Kyle (Heather) and Evan Moffatt and Amanda Leaman; great grandchildren Emma, Willow and Audrey Anne; sister Patricia (John LeMesurier); brothers Paul, Harold and Douglas Cook (Silvia). She Leaves to mourn her brothers and sister in laws of the Leaman family. Leaving to mourn children Reginald Power (Florence) of Burin, Bernice Power of Marystown, Geraldine Beck (William) of Collin's Cove, Genevieve Flannigan (Ern) of St. John's, Grace Martin (Eleazer) of Burin, Ann Nichol (Nat) of Marystown, Dennis Jr. Power (Lori) of Burin, Jerome Power of Marystown, Frances Stone (Tony) of NS and Vince Power (Jeannine) of St. John's; 16 grandchildren; 19 great grandchildren plus a large circle of other family and friends.
