Burin Peninsula Obituaries
January 2010

The area includes from Terrenceville on down to Grand Bank, over to Lamaline, St. Lawrence, Burin, Marystown and down the Peninsula again to Boat Harbour. All the communities are not named but serves the whole of the Peninsula.

 

HARNETT, Bernard Joseph
(February 22, 1936 - January 8, 2010)

Passed peacefully away at his residence in Point May on Friday, January 8, 2010, Bernard J. Harnett, age 73 years. Predeceased by parents William and Ann Harnett; wife Vera; brothers John, Tom and Leslie; sister Abagail; brother-in-law Dermont Mullaley; great grandson Tyson Harnett. Leaving to mourn: son Larry (wife Rita) at Point May, grandsons Larry and Lacey at Point May, Michael (Holly) at Edmonton, and Chad at Edmonton, 3 great grandchildren; brothers Anthony (wife Marjorie) at Point May, William (wife Blanche) at Lamaline; sisters Madge (husband Claude) at Lord's Cove, and sister Alverna Harnett at St. John's; sisters-in-law Nora Harnett at Lord's Cove, Vera Harnett at Lamaline and Thelma Harnett at Toronto. Also a large circle of other relatives and friends. Remains resting at The Most Holy Rosary Church Point May on Friday at 7pm; and on Saturday and Sunday. Funeral Mass will take place on Monday at 2pm from the Most Holy Rosary Church, Point May. Interment to follow at The Most Holy Rosary Cemetery, Point May. Donations in his memory may be made to The Most Holy Rosary Cemetery Fund, Point May. Funeral arrangements are entrusted to the care of Warren's Funeral Home, Grand Bank.

KIRBY, Mary Ann
(March 23, 1918 - January 31, 2010)

Passed peacefully away, surrounded by her loving family, on Sunday, January 31, 2010, Mary Ann Kirby of Lord's Cove in her 92nd year. Predeceased by her husband Richard [1975] and granddaughter, Krista Vanderweyst [2007] of London, Ontario. Also parents Clement and Elizabeth Lambe, sister Evelina Fitzpatrick and brothers Anthony and William Lambe. Leaving to mourn with fond and loving memories her six daughters, Bride Locke [Robert Field,deceased] {Don} of Corner Brook, Elizabeth Kirby [Rick Forester], Dorothy Phelan [Bill, deceased] both of London Ontario, Pat Mauger [Art] of Port aux Basque, Mary Isaacs [Bob] of B.C. Jean Simms [Carl] of Pasadena. Five sons: Thomas [Anne] of Lord's Cove, Richard [Bertha] of Saskatchewan, Raymond [Jackie] of Marystown, Frank [Stella] of Allan's Island, Lamaline, Clem [Louanne] of London, Ontario; 24 grandchildren and 25 great -grandchildren, Sister Frances Benteau, of N.S. and brother Clement Lambe [Claudia] of Marystown, Plus a large circle of other relatives and friends. Remains resting at St. Elizabeth's Church, Lord's Cove from 2:30pm - 9pm on Monday and on Tuesday from 9am - 9pm. Funeral Mass will take place on Wednesday, February 3. Time to be announced later. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the Lord's Cove Cemetery Fund. Funeral arrangements are entrusted to the care of Warren's Funeral Home, Grand Bank.

PARSONS, Justin Peter
(March 29, 1992 - January 1, 2010)

Passed away suddenly at Grand Bank on Friday, January 1, 2010, Justin Peter Albere Parsons, age 17 years. Predeceased by grandfather Bernard Hynes Sr. Leaving to mourn: Mother Victoria Hynes; Father Lloyd Parsons; Brothers Johnathan Hynes and Jonah Parsons; Sister Jennifer Parsons; Grandmother Alice Hynes of Fortune; Grandparents Peter and Effie Parsons of Point May. God Parents Tony Meade of Prince Edward Island and Bernice Parsons of Grand Bank. Also a circle of other relatives and friends. Remains resting at Warren's Funeral Home on Saturday from 3pm - 5pm. Then resting at The Most Holy Rosary Church Point May on Sunday. Time and date of Funeral Service to be announced later. Donations in his memory may be made to the Family. Funeral arrangements entrusted to the care of Warren's Funeral Home, Grand Bank.

SHEPPARD, Alice Mary
(August 14, 1939 - January 11, 2010)

Passed peacefully away at the Blue Crest Nursing Home Grand Bank on Monday, January 11, 2010, Alice Mary Sheppard of Grand Beach, age 70 years. Predeceased by parents George and Ellen Jane Follett. Leaving to mourn: husband Arch at Grand Beach; 2 sisters Emma (Clifford Samms) at Grand Bank, Greta and Ben at Grand Beach; nephew William Samms(Joan) at Grand Bank, Niece Brenda Stewart at Grand Bank, great nieces Melissa and Brittany, great nephew Ernest and Wanda, great grand niece Amanda, and 3 great great nephews Jaden, Allan and Anthony; 5 sisters-in-law Gertie and Henry Crews at Grand Bank, Rose and Roy House at Grand Bank, Elsie and Gordon Riggs at Marystown, Violet Smith and Woodrow at Brookside, and Maude and Jerry Hemsing at Alberta; 3 brothers-in-law Bill and Bessie Sheppard at Boat Harbour, Les and Mary Sheppard at Jacques Fontaine and Rupert and Patsy Sheppard at Saskatchewan. Also a large circle of other relatives and friends. Remains resting at Warren's Funeral Home on Tuesday and Wednesday from 10am - 12noon; 2pm - 4pm; 7pm - 9pm. Funeral Service will take place on Thursday at 2pm from Warren's Funeral Home, Grand Bank. Interment to follow at United Church Cemetery, Grand Beach. Funeral arrangements are entrusted to the care of Warren's Funeral Home, Grand Bank.
