Burin Peninsula Obituaries

The area includes from Terrenceville on down to Grand Bank, over to Lamaline, St. Lawrence, Burin, Marystown and down the Peninsula again to Boat Harbour. All the communities are not named but serves the whole of the Peninsula.

Passed peacefully away at the Burin Peninsula Health Care Centre on Sunday, January 25, 2009 Julia Augustus of Burin in her 43rd year. Leaving to mourn husband Terry; son Kyle (Angela) of Burin; step-son Michael of Burin; parents Joan and David Fry of Charleston; brother Frank Fry (Valerie) of Labrador City plus a large circle of other family and friends. Cremation has taken place. Funeral service to take place from Holy Trinity Anglican Church, Ship Cove on Friday at 2pm with inurnment to follow at Holy Trinity Cemetery, Hodder's Point. Passed suddenly away at his residence in St. Catherine's, Ontario on Tuesday January 6, 2009, Edward (Eddy) Baker of St. Catherine's, Ontario formerly of Marystown, in his 68th year. Leaving to mourn with fond and loving memories mother Julia Baker of Marystown; son Ken (Allyn) of British Columbia; daughters Cherie (Dean) Ellis of Ontario, and Heather Baker of Ontario; sisters Bride (Hugh) Mitchell of Marystown, Alice (Ray) Murphy of Dunville, Patricia (John) Norman of St. John's, and Judy (Bob) Drake of Marystown; brothers Leonard (Orion) of St. John's, Kevin (Bridget) of Labrador City, Tom (Carol)of Marystown, Jim (Theresa) of Labrador City, and Vince (Dot) of Marystown; 3 grandchildren Lucan, John and Laura; plus a large circle of relatives and friends. Predeceased by father Vincent Baker (1977), and sister Sister Mary Baker, RSM (1994). BARNES, Otto Barnes

Otto Barnes
of Grand Bank went to be with the Lord on Wednesday, January 14, 2009. He was predeceased by his parents, Byron and Ida Lydia (nee Green) and sister Sabina of Harbour Mile, brother Onslow of Fortune, and sister Hazel of Grand Falls. He leaves to mourn his wife Shirley and sons Kevin of St. John's and Dean of Montreal. The wake will take place at Bethel Pentecostal Church, Grand Bank with the funeral on Friday, January 16th, at 2pm. In lieu of flowers, the family asks that donations be made to the Bethel Pentecostal Church in his memory for a memorial cross. Funeral arrangements are entrusted to the care of Warren's Funeral Home, Grand Bank.

CLARKE, Russell G.
(May 22, 1947 - January 2, 2009)

It is with great sadness to announce the sudden death of Russell George Clarke of Grand Bank NL. on Friday January 02nd, 2009, age 61 years. Predeceased by his father Percival George Clarke, his baby brother Eli Clarke, sister Shirley (Clarke) Whalen, and his nephew Steven Mauger; he leaves to mourn: wife Nancy Wilson-Clarke of Grand Bank, his children Natalie Rose Clarke of Grand Bank, Phillip, David and Sharon of Ontario, and Christopher of Clarenville, his much beloved 10 grandchildren, mother Elsie Clarke of Grand Bank, brothers Walter at Edmonton and Reuben of Grand Bank; sisters Marjorie at Lewin's Cove and Helen at Ontario, also, his extended family, friends and co workers. Remains resting at Warren's Funeral Home Grand Bank on Sunday, Monday, and Tuesday from 2pm - 5pm, 7pm - 9pm. Leaving to mourn her loving son Michael (Terrenceville), daughter Alice McCarthy (Terrenceville), son in law Robert Byrd (English Harbour East); 8 Grandchildren, Calvin, Fred, Dorothy, Daphne, Stanley, Pauline, Earl and Derrick, and 20 Great Grandchildren; and a large circle of relatives and friends. Predeceased by husband Michael, daughter Mary Byrd and son in law Michael McCarthy. Predeceased by wife Ivy and son Tom. Leaving to mourn: daughter Irene at Garnish, Margaret(Frank Penney) at Charlottetown, and Nina(Lorne Welsh) at Mt. Pearl, sons Howard(wife Georgina) at Marystown, and Ray(wife Marjorie) at Garnish, 11 grandchildren and 13 great grandchildren, also his little buddy and best friend Kipper. Also a circle of other relatives and friends. Remains resting at St. Giles Anglican Church Garnish. Funeral service will take place on Saturday at 2pm from St. Giles Anglican Church.
