Phil John to the many people who worked with him and John to family and close friends. John had the gift of gab. It didn't matter if he knew you or not. He always had a story to tell. He laughed easily, he loved a cup of tea. He loved to play cribbage and we played many games over the years. We loved our cabin in Browns harbour, we spent many hours trouting, berry picking, hunting, bike riding, in the woods and having our boil ups. His wit and humour were unmatched and he carried that to the end. He would always say he was the best looking or that he always looked good. He had a a big heart and loved fiercely and was incredibly loyal. He was a giving person and whenever he could help someone he did and in the words of his dear mother, "you will never want for what you give."
Many houses he visited in Garnish, just for a yarn and a cup of tea. John enjoyed his morning runs to Tim Hortons with his so many coffee buddies, teasing, tormenting, and lots of laughter. He made a lot of friends here in Burin and loved the card games at various places. His biggest accomplishment was to get the bridge across Garnish river. A proud family man, John cherished the time spent with his loved ones, prioritizing family more than anything else. He leaves behind a legacy of hard work, love, and dedication that will forever be remembered. John's warmth and kindness touched the lives of many, and he will be deeply missed by all who knew him.

PARSONS, LINDA (Smith)
It is with broken hearts that the family of the late Linda Parsons (Smith) of Burnt Cove, NL (formally of Brookside) announces her passing. Linda passed away at the Blue Crest Nursing Home in Grand Bank, NL on August 4, 2024 at the age of 76. Leaving to mourn with a lifetime of wonderful memories are her children, Isaac (Dawn) of Burin, Darrell (Marsha) of Lewin's Cove, Aubrey (Bonnie) of Lewin's Cove, Terry of Burin and Richard (Natasha) of Garnish; grandchildren, Darlene, Kyle, Hayley, Tyler, Patrick, Cameron, Joseph, Clara, Aurora; great-grandchildren, Danika, Kiera, Payton, Eva, Sara; sisters, Hilda, Jean, Carrie and Maude; partner, Ralph Duhart; special friends, Lynda and Charlie; plus a large circle of extended family and friends. Linda was predeceased by her baby son, Richard; parents, Cecilia & Thomas Smith; brothers, Ren, Joseph, Thomas; and sister, Rachel.
The only way to describe Linda is to say she was Amazing! Her courage, strength, determination and the use of humour (no matter how many swear words were involved) got her through all of the obstacles she had to face in her life - and there were many! But no matter what she was going through at any particular time herself, she still brought so much joy and happiness to everyone around her. Family was her number 1 priority and her love for her boys, their partners, grandchildren and great-grandchildren was prevalent in everything she did. She was so proud and loved telling stories about them to anyone who would listen.
Linda was the most caring and giving person and would give the shirt off her back to anyone who needed help. Animals were no exception to this - she fed many cats, foxes, birds and squirrels through the window you could frequently find her sat by before her lengthy hospital stay. She even went as far as turning her wood shed into a cats paradise haven for many strays over the years. Her kindness was certainly felt by many. The world was a better place with her in it and while our hearts mourn the loss, we take comfort in knowing she is no longer suffering. We will forever be grateful and blessed to call her our Mother and our friend.
The Parsons Family will be accepting visitors at Wiseman's Funeral Home in Burin, NL (193 Main Street):Thursday, August 8th, 2024 from 2:00pm - 4:00pm, 6:00pm - 8:00pm.
