Burin Peninsula Obituaries
August 2012

The area includes from Terrenceville on down to Grand Bank, over to Lamaline, St. Lawrence, Burin, Marystown and down the Peninsula again to Boat Harbour.
All the communities are not named but serves the whole of the Peninsula.

 

AYERS, Edna Catherine
(April 8, 1933 - August 20, 2012)

Passed away at the Burin Peninsula Health Care Centre on Monday, August 20, 2012, Edna Catherine Ayers of Fortune, age 79 years. Predeceased by parents Stanley and Mary Sheppard; husband Harry, daughter Phyllis, brother Roland. Leaving to mourn: daughters Geraldine (Cecil Barnes), Donna Remo, Maureen (Boyd Keeping), son Derrick Ayers and Daphne; 6 grandchildren, 1 special granddaughter Sherry Anstey, 7 great grandchildren; sister Lillian Saunders, sister-in-law Charlotte Sheppard. Also a large circle of other relatives and friends. Remains resting at All Saint's Anglican Church, Fortune on Monday from 7 pm - 9 pm, then on Tuesday and Wednesday from 10 am - 12 pm; 2 pm - 4 pm; 7 pm - 9 pm. Funeral Service will take place on Thursday, August 23rd at 2 pm from All Saint's Anglican Church, Fortune. Interment to follow at All Saint's Anglican Cemetery, Fortune. Flowers gratefully accepted. Funeral arrangements are entrusted to the care of Warren's Funeral Home, Grand Bank.

BOLT, CLAYTON
1987-2012

It is with great sadness that the family of the late CLAYTON JAMES BOLT of Grand Le Pierre announces his passing at the Health Sciences Centre in St. John's on Saturday August 11, 2012 at the age of 25. Leaving to mourn with fond and loving memories are mother Regina and father Gerald; grandparents William and Meta Bolt; sisters Sherrille and Abigail; also, very dear to Clayton's heart were Tom, Jean, Clifford and Tina Kearley, Mark and Veronica Bolt, and special friend Dean Bolt. Plus a large circle of aunts, uncles, cousins and friends. Predeceased by grandparents Mabel and Clayton Bolt. Resting and visitation will take place from St. Thomas Anglican Church in Grand Le Pierre at a time to be announced. Funeral service and interment from St. Thomas Anglican Church, Grand Le Pierre to be announced. HATCH, Emma
(September 30, 1917 - August 1, 2012)
Passed peacefully away at the Blue Crest Nursing Home, Grand Bank, on Wednesday August 1, 2012, Emma Hatch of Grand Bank, age 94 years. Predeceased by parents Julie and Harry Phillips; husband Thomas; two sons, Harvey & Freeman, one sister Martha; three brothers, Jim, Henry, and Max; sister-in-law Annie; Leaving to mourn with precious memories, two daughters, Margaret (Howard Wigney); Faye (George Fizzard); ten grandchildren, sixteen great grandchildren, five great-great grandchildren, brother Albert (Hilda), daughters-in-law Alice and Georgie; also a large circle of other relatives and friends. Remains resting at Warren's Funeral Home on Wednesday from 7 pm - 8 pm for FAMILY ONLY, and for public from 8 pm - 9 pm, and on Thursday from 10 am - 12 pm; 2 pm - 4 pm; 7 pm - 8:30 pm. Funeral Service will take place from the Salvation Army Grand Bank, at 3 pm on Friday, August 3rd. Interment to follow at the Salvation Army Cemetery, Grand Bank. McCARTHY, GLADYS
1924-2012

It is with great sadness that the family of the late GLADYS McCARTHY of Terrenceville, NL announces her passing at the US Memorial Health Care Centre in St. Lawrence on Thursday, August 16, 2012 at the age of 87. Leaving to mourn with fond and loving memories are sons Clayton (Cassie) of Lindsay, ON, Jim (Debbie) of Marystown, Con (Mary) of Mount Carmel, Ted of St. John's, and Tim (Jeanie) of Mount Pearl; daughters Loretta Myles of St. Bernard's, Jenny (Aloysius) English of St. John's, Carmel McCarthy of Fort Saskatchewan, AB, and Jackie (Lorne) Maloney of Marystown; daughter-in-law Loretta McCarthy of Marystown; 25 grandchildren; 20 great-grandchildren; plus a large circle of family and friends. Pre-deceased by husband Patrick McCarthy; son Michael McCarthy; and son-in-law Gerald Myles. Resting and visitation to take place from St. Joseph's Roman Catholic Church in Terrenceville on Saturday, August 18th beginning at 2 pm, and Sunday, August 19th all day. Predeceased by parents Maude and James; brother Arthur and sisters Effie and Marjorie. Resting at Warren's Funeral Home, Grand Bank Thursday 7-9 PM, Friday and Saturday 2-4 PM and 7-9 PM. Leaving to mourn with fond and loving memories are sons Aloysius (Phyllis) of Parker's Cove, Eugene (Elizabeth) of Parker's Cove, Clayton (Elizabeth) of Parker's Cove, Harold (Elizabeth) of Parker's Cove, Calvin (Sadie) of Parker's Cove, Gerard (Gladys) of Parker's Cove, Dennis (Dolorosa) of Parker's Cove and Daryl (Melinda) of Toronto; daughters Eileen (Jim) Murphy, Agatha (John) Brushett, Bernice (Larry) Vators and Rita Murphy with whom she resided; brother Fred (Bernadine) Synard; 37 grandchildren and 24 great-grandchildren; plus a large circle of family and friends. Leaving to mourn with fond and loving memories are sons Andrew of Marystown, Walter (Jr.) of Thompson, MB; daughters Andrea (Sean) Fortin of Esterhazy, SK, and Cindy Walsh of Thompson, MB; mother-in-law Blanche Thurston; sisters Alice Isaacs, Marion Carter, Bridget Hennebury, Lorna Fitzpatrick, Doris Lamb and Mary Hennebury; brothers Arnold Hodge, Thomas Hodge, and Jamie Hodge; 7 grandchildren Nicole, Cody, Landyn, Zander, Kiana, Adam & Patrick; 2 great-grandchildren Ryder & Jerzey; plus a large circle of family and friends.
