CRIBB, JOHN RAYMOND
It is with profound sadness that we announce the passing of John Raymond Cribb (64) on April 15th, 2023. He passed peacefully with his wife (Lana) and children (Sam & Jonathan) at his bedside. John was born on September 24, 1958 in St John's but resided in the small outport community of Grole, Newfoundland. His greatest childhood memories were from his time spent in Grole with family and friends. At 10 years old John and his family were resettled to Marystown, where he lived until he moved to St John's to attend Memorial University. While in his last year of high school, John met the love of his life, Lana. He joined the RCMP after completing his bachelor of commerce, getting married and having his first-born child, Jonathan. The decision to join the RCMP was the start of a great adventure for John and his family. His career brought him first to Port Hawkesbury, then Sydney, St John's, Halifax and then back to Burin before retiring from the force and settling in St John's. Most of John's fondest memories are during his early days with the RCMP with his young family in Nova Scotia. Many of his lifelong friendships were made during those years. John was an avid reader and loved discussing books, especially with his book club. He loved travelling with his wife which took him all over the world including many beloved trips to New Zealand to visit his son, daughter-in-law and grandchildren. Although his family and his career were of great importance, everyone who knew John knew that sports were a lifelong love of his as well. He was an avid athlete and sportsman until his ability to play sports was taken from him due to his PLS diagnosis in his later years. His deteriorating disability may have taken away his ability to participate but it didn't take away his love for the game. He loved to chat about sports, watch and coordinate sports pools with his friends living across the country. John was a loving father and husband; his family meant the world to him. In recent years, becoming a grandfather and developing deep connections with his grandchildren was incredibly important to him. Patience, humility and unconditional empathy were among his greatest strengths. He cared so greatly for those around him, something felt by everyone who John met. The deterioration of his physical ability may have taken away a lot from John during his last few years, however it never took away his hopeful spirit. He greeted every day with a smile and he always counted his blessings, which he felt he had many. John was always a man of great faith and even through the past few years with his deteriorating condition, his faith never wavered. John is now at peace in his heavenly home. Leaving to mourn his devoted wife, Lana, his children Jonathan (Ashley Reid) and Samantha (Steve Follett) and his treasured grandchildren, Jude Cribb, Margot Cribb and Eleanor Follett. He is also survived by his loving mother, Eva Cribb and siblings, Ches Cribb (Barb), Sharon Kelly (Tony) and Murray Cribb (Mavis), as well as his mother-in-law, Marion Hiscock and brother and sister-in-law, Fraser and Yvonne Hiscock, as well as many cherished friends. John's gentle spirit and positive nature will surely be missed, though certainly not forgotten. The Cribb Family will be accepting visitors at Wiseman's Funeral Homes, Burin on Monday, April 17th, 3pm - 7pm.
In honouring his wishes, cremation will take place. Following his cremation, the Cribb Family will be accepting visitors at Barrett's Funeral Home, 328 Hamilton Avenue St. John's on Wednesday, April 19th, 3pm - 7pm. Funeral arrangements entrusted to the care of Wiseman's Funeral Homes - Burin. "Our Family Serving Your Family"www.wisemansfh.ca

DODGE, WAYNE

It is with broken hearts and many precious memories that the family of the late Wayne Dodge announce his passing at his "Happy Place" at his residence in Largo, Florida. Leaving to mourn with special memories wife Daphne of 49 years; sons Tommy (Heather) and Tim (Selena); his precious grandchildren Kennedie and Quade; mother-in-law Susie Bennett; sisters-in-law Sheila, Lillian and Pauline Dodge also Gordie (Maxine) Abbott. Plus a large circle of other family and friends. Wayne was predeceased by his father Thomas Dodge; mother Caroline Martin; father-in-law Eric Bennett and stepbrothers John, Aubrey, and Cyril Dodge. In keeping with Wayne's wishes cremation has taken place. There will be a celebration of Wayne's life at Serenity Funeral Home, Burin at a later date. Wayne and Daphne enjoyed their retirement to the fullest. He may have not got all the years they wanted but he made the ones he had count. They bought their retirement home in Florida 12 years ago. It was his happy place. He retired 9 years ago, sold his electrical business that he worked hard and long hours to make successful. They spent every winter they could there. He loved the golfing, sunshine and spending time socializing with all his new friends. He became part of another family. Most important of all he got to see his 2 grandchildren more and make beautiful memories with them. Wayne was a true Toronto Maple Leaf fan, always believing in them and was known to say they'll get the cup next year. He was an active Mason and Shriner member. He had many brothers across the island who were honoured to call him a friend. He was a person you met once and then he was your friend. He was known to celebrate every holiday with his family to the fullest. From St. Paddy's Day, Canada Day, Birthdays, Christmas, New Year's he was all in. He loved to advertise he was a Canadian as well as a proud Newfoundlander. But maybe he loved his Toronto Maple Leaf's the most. He had car mats, t-shirts, hats, flags, cups and anything you could get boasting his favourite team. Wayne will be forever missed for all his love he gave his family, his beautiful smile, his ability to laugh and enjoy every moment of life. "It's not the years we had but the memories we made in the ones we lived." Funeral arrangements entrusted to Serenity Funeral Home, Burin. "We listen. We learn. We walk with you."
