The area includes from Terrenceville on down to Grand Bank, over to Lamaline, St. Lawrence, Burin, Marystown and down the Peninsula again to Boat Harbour. All the communities are not named but serves the whole of the Peninsula.

 

BECK, ANNIE
It is with deep sadness that the family of the late ANNIE BECK of St. Lawrence announces her passing. Annie passed away at U.S Memorial Health Center in St. Lawrence on Thursday, April 2, 2020 at the age of 84. Leaving to mourn with a lifetime of wonderful memories are her; sons, Augustus Beck of St. Lawrence, Henry Beck (Glenda) of St. Lawrence, Harvey Beck (Christina) of St. Lawrence, and Charles Beck (Dorinda) of St. Lawrence; daughter, Darlene Slaney (Aloysuis) of Grand Falls; 14 grandchildren; 22 great-grandchildren; 1 great-great-grandson; sisters, Theresa Porter (Norm) of St. John's, and Georgina Howse of Bloomfield; brother, Harvey Hillier (Jeanie Wade) of Fortune; plus a large number of family and friends. Annie was predeceased by her husband, John Beck; parents, George & Josephine Hillier; step-father, John Baker; brother, Thomas Hillier; sister, Jessie Bonnell; 3 infant children; and great-grandson, Patrick Farrell. BRAKE, PATRICK MICHAEL
It is with great sadness that the family of the late Patrick Michael Brake announce his passing at the Burin Peninsula Heath Care Center on April 13, 2020 at the age of 75.Leaving to mourn with love and laughter is his wife Sarah of 54 years. Sons Paul Brake (Karen) of Mount Pearl, Pat Brake (Karen) of St. John's; Daughters Karen Brake of Gaetz Brook, NS, Amanda Pike (Darrell) of St. Lawrence, Christa Coady (John) of Flatrock; 9 grandchildren and 7 great grandchildren who were his world. Sisters Meline Bennett of Burin and Norah Murdoch of Turuo, NS. Also, a large circle of extended family and friends, especially his special friends Kevin Flannigan and Wilson Molloy. Pat was predeceased by his parents Patrick Brake and Mary Lundrigan; Brothers Jack Brake, Clarence Brake, Raymond Brake, Robert Brake; Sisters Mary Antle, Agnes French, Bride Ryan and Julie Phillips. Also, his special angel, his daughter Kimberley Henderson. Pat was a large part of his beloved St. Lawrence and will surely be missed by all who knew him. From the council chambers to the sideline of Centennial Field, his presence will surely be missed. He was a Laurentian true and true. As per Covid-19 regulations, a funeral mass and celebration of life will be announced at a later date. Donations to the Brake family are graciously accepted. BROCKERVILLE, JOSH
It's with broken hearts that the family of the Late JOSH BROCKERVILLE of St. Lawrence passed away at his home in Houston, B.C on April 10, 2020 at the age of 45. Leaving to mourn with wonderful memories are his mother, Theresa; sister, Kim (Eric); nieces, Marisa and Alyvia; nephew, Marshall, who was the light of his world; plus a large circle of aunts, uncles, relatives, and friends. Josh was predeceased by his father, Alonzo Brockerville; grandparents, Beatrice and Emanuel Brockerville, Patrick Hynes, Eileen and Robert Kelly; uncles, Gordon Kelly, Rudy Kelly; cousins, Brandon Brockerville, and Ray Wells. Josh was born in St. Lawrence, NL July 4, 1974. He moved to Houston with his mom and dad when he was 4 and became a big brother in 1978 to his sister Kim. Josh has travelled from coast to coast throughout his life but finally settled down back in Houston. He loved to play hockey when he was younger, and he was very good at it, with his favourite team being the Detroit Red Wings. Josh had a heart of gold and was always looking out for the underdog. He was hard worker and never afraid of a hard day's work. He loved his family and friends very much and always looked out for each and every one of them. His family now takes comfort in knowing that he is now at peace in heaven watching hockey and making up for lost time with his dad and Uncle Rudy. Fly High Josh Pickle. Until We Meet Again. BROWN, KATHLEEN
Passed peacefully away in the presence of her sister Phyllis and niece Donna at the Glenbrook Lodge, St. John's, Kathleen Brown (Kennedy), formerly of Mortier, in her 69th year. Kathleen is lovingly remembered by her brother, Nicholas (Mabel), Mortier; sisters Phyllis Brown, Mortier; and Stella Kennedy (Freeman), Burin; and her Glenbrook Lodge family. She loved her boys, Darryl (Noah & Vivian) and Michael Brown, and her nieces, Donna Cook (Gerry & Brandon); Vanessa Brown (Norm, Amber and Cameron); Elizabeth Kavanagh (Rick, Richard and Amanda); Nicole Walsh (Mike, Marissa & Melanie); Alison Clarke; and nephew, Gordon Kennedy (Lori, Joshua and Julie). Kathleen was predeceased by her mother and father, Samuel and Elizabeth Kennedy; sister, Vera Murphy; sister-in-law Melita Kennedy; and brothers-in-law Leo Murphy and Don Brown. BRUSHETT, PATRICK "PADDY"
Patrick "Paddy" Brushett
of Mount Pearl passed away on April 14, 2020 at St. Clare's Mercy Hospital at the age of 79. He was born in Little Bay on December 31st, 1940, son of the late Charles and Annie Brushett. He is predeceased by his loving wife of 43 years, Loretta; brother Kevin; son Danny Hayes (Elaine Wheeler); son-in-law Daniel Farrell (Rosemary); brothers-in-law Patrick O'Reilly (Theresa) and Gerard Kelly (Carrie); sister-in-law Regina Brushett (Lawrence). Left to celebrate his life are daughters Debbie Hannon (Cyril); Bonnie Bruce (Gary); Carol Fitzgerald (Billy); Marcella Hayes (Mike Dicks); Rosemary Farrell; son Tommy Hayes (Flo Ann Miller); sisters Yvonne Hemeon (Michael), Joan Hodder (Paul), Florence Power (Patrick); Carrie Kelly; Alice Rideout (Tom); Sadie Kelly (Patrick); Theresa O'Reilly; brothers Lawrence, Eugene and James (Mary); grandchildren Victoria and Michael Hannon; Melissa and Gary Bruce; William and Jeffrey Hayes; Daniel and Krista Wheeler; Andrew, Jennifer and Sherry Lynn Fitzgerald; William and Tina Walsh; Cynthia Broders, Debbie Blake, Sandra and Danielle Farrell; as well as a large circle of great-grandchildren, nieces, nephews, other relatives, friends and special friend Ella Pardy.
Paddy was a hard worker - having worked as a trawlerman for 36 years, retiring from National Sea Products in 1992. He was a good friend to many including his neighbours and very active in his church community and Masonic Park. He was always dependable and more than willing to help anyone. He will be remembered and missed by all who knew him.
Cremation has taken place. Mass of Christian Burial and Celebration of Life will take place at a later date with interment to follow at Holy Sepulchre Cemetery. CLARKE, ELIAS
It is with broken hearts that the family of the late ELIAS CLARKE of Terrenceville announces his passing. Elias passed away at his home in Terrenceville on April 2, 2020 at the age of 64. Left to cherish him in loving memory are his partner Deborah Lewis-Clarke and her children Nancy (Terry) and A.J. Albert passed away at the Burin Peninsula Health Care Center in Burin,NL on April 17, 2020 at the age of 84. Leaving to mourn with a lifetime of wonderful memories are his wife Muriel of 63 years; son, Lewis Dodge (Theresa) of Point Au Gaul; daughters, Diane Dodge (Eric) of Lamaline, and Donna Hillier (Barry) of Ontario; 4 grandchildren, Darren (Lucinda), Roger (Danielle), Tanya (Brad), Geoffrey (Tara); 4 Great-Grandchildren, Danah, Kerry, Makinley, Kalem; brothers, Regonald, Gerry; sisters, Sarah, Minnie, Carrie, Diane, Susan, Charity, Martha; plus a large circle of relatives and friends. Leaving to mourn with a lifetime of wonderful memories are his wife Linda of 40 years; sons, Leonard Grandy (Lucille) of Medicine Hat, Harve Pardy (Patty) of Medicine Hat, and Darin Pardy (Paula) of Medicine Hat; daughter, Danielle Andrews of St. John's; 2 grandchildren, Abigail and Malaya; 1 great-grandchild, Walker; his special companion, "Sailor"; sister, Marion Bonnell (Churchill); brothers, Tom Grandy (Don), and Carl Grandy; plus a large number of family and friends. Leaving to mourn with a lifetime of wonderful memories are her; sons, Gerard (Marie) of Deer Park, Washington, Anthony (Trudy) of Marystown, Patrick of Jean de Baie, Michael (Tina) of Marystown, Richard (Alice) of Jean de Baie, and Ronald (Deborah) of Marystown; daughters, Roberta Moore (James) of Placentia, Glenda Hannam of Edmonton, AB, and Geraldine Dobbin (Phonse) of Jean de Baie; 16 grandchildren; 15 great-grandchildren; sister, Betty Walsh of St. Mary's; sister'-in-law, Irene Bonia of St. Mary's, Bridget Stewart of Marystown, Sheila Hannam of Nova Scotia, and Anna Hannam of Nova Scotia; brother-in-law, Roche Hannam of Marystown; plus a large circle of family and friends. Leaving to mourn with fond and loving memories are wife Elaine of 49 years; son, Howard Jr. (Melanie) of Paradise, NL; daughters, Tracey Hickman (Perry Adams) of Clarenville, NL, Jennifer Haley (Robert) of Flat Rock, NL; 5 grandchildren, Zachary, Jordyn, Allie, Julia, James; plus a large circle of family and friends. He was predeceased by his parents, Elsie Hickman & Joseph Strickland; sisters; Rita Burt, Mae Hawkins, Christine Hollett. HOLLETT, DONALD COLIN
Donald Colin Hollett
, originally of Burin NL, passed peacefully away after a brief illness at 84 years old on Tuesday, April 28, 2020. Don was a highly active member of the community as former Mayor and Member of the House of Assembly for Burin and served on countless boards and committees throughout his life. He was a great cook and wonderful storyteller. Don loved his family, his friends, a good chat, the sea, the land and politics. He will be deeply missed by all who had the privilege to know and love him. Don was predeceased by his parents Donald and May (Stevenson), sister Joan, brothers-in-law Brian Aylward and Jack Spencer, sister-in-law Florence Day and father-in-law Herbert Cluett. Deeply mourning his loss are his loving wife of 61 years, Jean (Cluett), children Sandy (Brenda), Philip (Susan), and Susan (Adrian), grandchildren Alex (Steve), Matthew and Blake, Megan, Katie, Sam (and their mother Heather), step-grandchildren Kerry and Carly, great-grandchildren Max and Claire, step-great-grandchild Ross, sisters Judy (Boots), Gail, and Brenda (Bob), mother-in-law Louise Cluett, sister-in law-Gertie Spencer, brother-in-law Calvin Day and a large circle of nieces, nephews, cousins and their families, as well as many dear friends from far and wide. Many thanks to the staff at the Burin Peninsula Health Care Centre ICU and Medicine Ward for their dedicated professional care. He was always in good hands there. INKPEN, Valetta
It is with great sadness and heavy hearts that we announce the peaceful passing of Valetta Inkpen at the Blue Crest Nursing Home , Grand Bank, April 6, 2020 at the age of 89 years. Mom was predeceased by her parents, Agnes and William Follett. She leaves to mourn her husband, Arnold who was her strength especially through the past few years, son, Keith, daughter, Christine Colin. Nan will be sadly missed by her loving grandchildren, Renee (Chris), who she thought of as her daughter, David, Curtis, Kristal and Robert (Lauren), great grandchildren, Aiden, Sebastian, Taylor and Peter. A large number of nieces and nephews. Sisters-in-law and brothers-in-law in the Inkpen Family.
Mom is the last surviving member of her immediate family. Predeceased by her sisters, Ann, Blanche, Jessie (Baker), Irene (Lionel), brothers, William, Garfield (Mary), Clarence (Mary) and Harold. AB.; daughter, Viola Sheppard (Joe Brushett) of Bay L'Argent; 5 grandchildren, Reg Sheppard (Cindy), Gary Sheppard (Yvonne), Philip Sheppard (Tracy), Jayda Miller, and Jackson Miller; 3 great-grandchildren, Joshua Sheppard (Emma), Kyle Sheppard (Kay), and Kaitlyn Sheppard (Lucas); 1 great-great-granddaughter, Charlotte Tucker; sister-in-law, Joan Miller of Port Saunders; plus a large number of family and friends. Leaving to mourn with fond and loving memories her children Mary of Burin, Sharon (Dan) of Marystown, Larry (Genevieve) of Medicine Hat, AB, Jessie of Marystown, Janice of Sherwood Park, AB, Greg (Madonna) of Winterland and Melissa (Kelly) of St. John's; 17 grandchildren; 21 great grandchildren; special mention to Charlie's children Morley, Colleen, and Rosalynn; brothers Benjamin (Mabel), Samuel (Daphne); sisters Cora and Sheila (Herbert) plus a large circle of other family and friends. Linda was predeceased by her parents, Mary and Donald Hillier of Grand Bank; her grandmother, Eliza Hillier; sisters, Sandra Hillier, Wendy Follett, and Sheila Butler of Grand Bank; brother, Donald (Reg) Hillier; nephew, Anthony Clarke; grandchildren, River and Rayne Oliver. Linda was a loving wife, mother, sister, aunt, and grandmother. She was an avid baker and reader. Linda was a dedicated soldier of the Salvation Army Citadel in Grand Bank. She also leaves to mourn the many lives she touched throughout the years through her church families in Dartmouth, Nova Scotia and in Grand Bank. She reached out to people through hamper ministry, street ministry, meals to the homeless, food bank, and in recent years, community care ministries, home league and the church families as a whole. Linda loved God and loved people. Linda's life was filled with joy, heartache, passion, and love. She was led by her passion to give and care for others. Linda gave herself completely with love and devotion. She will be extremely missed by all who were fortunate enough to have been in her presence and loved eternally by those she loved and those who held her dear. It's with broken hearts that the family of the late JULIAN RENNIE of St. Lawrence announces his passing after a courageous battle with cancer. Julian passed away at his home surrounded by his loving family on Thursday, April 9, 2020 at the age of 62. THORNE, Major Georgie Maude (nee Douglas)
Born in Grand Bank on November 1, 1925 and Promoted to Glory on April 2, 2020. Georgie Maude is predeceased by the love of her life, Major Bramwell Thorne (1999); her parents, George and Elizabeth Douglas; her brothers: John Douglas (Blanche), Leslie Douglas (Ada), and Fred Douglas; and her beloved sister, Major Blanche Pike (Major Cecil Pike). She is lovingly remembered by her son, George (Adrienne); daughter, Elizabeth (Allan); grandsons: Bram and Douglas (Melisa); great-grandsons: Dylan and Niko; sister-in-law, Martha Douglas; as well as nieces, nephews, friends - including special friends, Alice Critch, Mike and Jeanette Penney - and her church family at The Salvation Army Citadel. Special thank you to the nursing staff of Glenbrook Lodge for their care and kindness. Oscar passed away peacefully at home with his wife, Judy and daughter, Jennifer by his side on Monday, April 13, 2020, age 66 yrs. Oscar was predeceased by; his son, Robert William West, his parents, Joseph and Alfreda West, and brother, Frank West. Leaving to mourn with sad hearts and cherished memories are his wife, Judy of 48 yrs; daughter, Jennifer (Allan); granddaughter, Kiera; and daughter, Jeanette (Eli); grandchildren, Robbie and Amber.
