It is with great sadness that the family of the late LESTER JAMES BLAGDON (JIM) of Marystown, announces his passing at The Blue Crest Nursing Home in Grand Bank on Sunday, April 2, 2017 at the age of 79. Butler, William Austin of Halifax, "Bill" passed away on April 9, 2017. Born on March 17, 1925 in Grand Bank Newfoundland, the son of the late Samuel and Edith Butler. He is survived by son Ken (Tracy), daughter Roberta (Tony) Ash, grandchildren Christopher Ash, Michelle (Scott) Latham, Amanda Ash, Danielle Butler and Kelly (Chad) Tebbutt, Calgary and by great-grandchildren Myca and Maliyah Tebbutt. Brothers Gordon, Laurie (Sis) and sister Meta (Eddie) Hyde, Nfld. Special nieces Melissa Hyde and Kim (Yannis) Siegfriedt. He was predeceased by his wife of sixty-five years, Joyce (Brace). Joyce and Bill loved singing hymns and southern gospel songs, and enjoyed the music of the Salvation Army band. Visitation will be Friday, April 14th from 6-8pm and Saturday, April 15th from 10-11am with a celebration of Bill's life to follow. The visitation and service will take place at The Salvation Army Fairview Citadel, 50 Gesner Street, under the direction of Captains Locke, reception to follow. EDWARDS, BRENDAN JOSEPH
It is with the deepest of sadness that I announce the passing of the sweetest, kindest, most generous soul to walk the earth. Brendan Joseph Edwards (dad) passed away Sunday, April 9, 2017, at the General Hospital in Ottawa, Ontario. He was born June 22nd, 1937 in Lawn, NL., the son of the late John Edwards and Charlotte (Slaney) Edwards. He is survived by his daughter, Brenda Edwards of Ottawa, ON; his brothers John (Anita) Edwards, Raphael (Joanne) Edwards and Walter Edwards, and his sister Marie (Joe) Strang. He was pre-deceased by his brothers Reginald (Sue) Edwards, Alphonse (Viola) Edwards, Robert (Helen) Edwards, Edward (Vera) Edwards, Eric (Audrey) Edwards, Patrick Edwards and Randall Edwards. He will be greatly missed by all his nieces and nephews; whom many referred to as their favourite uncle. Thank-you to all the staff at Oak Park Retirement Residence who took wonderful care of dad and loved his sweet smile and constant sunny disposition as much as any of us. Thank-you to the extensive team of doctors and nurses in the emergency room at the Ottawa General Hospital who were constantly comforting me and especially the Internal Medicine team who did their absolute best to help dad recover and then ensuring his final comfort. Thank-you to my precious friends, students and family for all your words of love, support, thoughts and prayers. Thank-you to Christine Graham and Jennifer Brisson for your sacrifice of time and energy during dad's final days. Words cannot express the love and gratitude I have for you both. in his 93 year passed peacefully away at the Health Sciences surrounded by family. He was a long time resident of Topsail formerly of Frenchman's Cove, Fortune Bay. Predeceased by wife Jean (2010), brother Leslie & sister-law Margaret, sisters Ethel Allen & brother-in-law Douglas,Laura Cluett & brother-in-law Gar, brothers-in law Arthur Barnes, Cecil Barnes, Harold Tucker. Leaving to mourn daughters Joan & Gary Szangulies, Linda Corker (Edmonton), Patricia &Paul Badcock (Stoney Plain), grandsons Kirk & Debbie (Fort McMurray), David & Karen (Fort McMurray), granddaughters Stephanie & Greg Greeley (Foxtrap), Kim & Blair Kosakewich (Edmonton), 8 great-grandchildren, 2 great-great grandchildren, sisters-in-law Jessie Barnes , Fanny Barnes, Margaret Tucker & Betty & Ross Barnes, nephews Gilbert & Paula Allen (Red Deer), Nelson & Alma Cluett (Corner Brook). Special friend Jeannie Mitchell (Dennis deceased)Kansas City, USA and other relatives and friends. Visitation in the James J. Hickey Memorial Funeral Home, Kelligrews on Tuesday & Wednesday from 2 - 4 pm & 7 - 9 pm. Funeral service to take place on Thursday, April 27, 2017 at 1 pm from St. John the Evangelist Anglican Church, Topsail. Interment in the Anglican Cemetery, Topsail. Flowers gratefully accepted or donations to the Old Church Upkeep Fund or the Cemetery Upkeep Fund.
