1929-2010
It is with great sadness that the family of the late DOMINIC (DON) BRAKE of Marystown announce his passing at the Burin Peninsula Health Care Centre on Wednesday April 21, 2010 at the age of 80. Leaving to mourn with fond and loving memories son Dominic Jr. of Edmonton, AB; daughters Deborah (Bill) Brushett of Oakville, ON, Delores (Mike) Gervais of Toronto, ON, and DeAnne (Richard) Hawkes of Newport, North Carolina; grandchildren Stephen, Cameron and Cailin; sisters Theresa Ward and Edith Hodder; many nieces and nephews; plus a large circle of family and friends. Predeceased by wife Bridget and brothers Derm and Patrick. MURPHY, ROSS ("MURF")
1947-2010
It is with great sadness that the family of the late ROSS I. MURPHY also known as "Murf" announce his passing in the comfort of his home and family at Pony's Pond Road on Tuesday April 6, 2010 at the age of 62. Ross was born at Parker's Cove on April 8, 1947 to Lillian Sweetapple and John Murphy. He was one of 9 children, living with his family in a modest 2-storey home in the cove. Ross married Donna Mitchell of Burin on July 25, 1974 and together built a wonderful loving home at Salmonier, Burin and raised 2 loving children Heidi and Mitchell. He made a living for his family as a Life Underwriter where he worked quite honestly and diligently for 25+ years. He retired in 2005 when he was diagnosed with cancer and since that time he put up a tremendous fight to remain with his family as long as possible. Ross, known lovingly by his wife Donna as "Murf" had such a Love for Life and a Love for those near and dear to him; that it makes us truly blessed to have been a part of his Life. This very passionate man will be dearly missed and always remembered by those who Loved Him and He in turn Loved back - His Family. Left to mourn father James; mother Margaret; grandparents Howard and Pat Lake and Eli and Ella Pike; aunts and uncles Loretta and Auby Slaney, Sean and Lorna Lake, St. Lawrence, Glenda and Randy Keating, Burin, Barry and Tina Lake, Pasadena, Dean and Sue Lake, Fredericton, NB; cousins Garret and Gina Slaney, Darren and Trevor Keating, Courtney and Colin Lake, Nicholas and Madison Lake and Sophie Lake; girlfriend Lauren Johnson and the Johnson family of Fort McMurray; Grandma Gerda and th Rebkowich family of Wandering River, Sears family of Stony Plain and a large circle of other relatives and friends. Passed suddenly away at the Burin Peninsula Health Care Center on April 27, 2010, Blanche Taylor of Port au Bras age 59 years. Predeceased by father Charles. Predeceased by parents Alice and Charl Hardiman, brother John Hardiman, sisters Jane Mitchell and Freda West, brothers-in-law George French, Joe West, and Lou Mitchell.
