Passed peacefully away on April 26, 2002, after a short and courageous battle with cancer: John Amminson, aged 81 years, a veteran of the Second World War with the Royal Navy. Predeceased by his wife Claire (nee Melvin). Leaving to mourn with fond and loving memories four sons, John Jr. Wayne (Ann marie Carew) Carl (Bernice and Barry: two daughters Donna Brocklehurst (Michael) and Linda (Wayne Dwyer). Nine loving grandchildren, Lana, Cory and Shane Brocklehurst; Marc, Melanie and Christopher John Amminson, Marlo (Geoff Stone) and Ashley MacDonald, and Leslie Claire Amminson; one great-grandaughter, Tiahna Brocklehurst Carroll; Two sisters Mary Tarasuk, Ida (Don) Marks: one step-brother Tom (Madeline) Hoban ; one sister-in-law Shirley Melvin: many dear and loving nieces, newphew, relatives and friends. Testing at Carnell's Funeral Home 329 Freshwater Rd. from 2-4pm and 7-9pm on Sunday and Monday. Funeral mass will he held on Tuesday April 30, 2002 at 9:30 am from the Basiliaa. Butt, Hilda (Dolly)
Passed peacefully away at home May 4, 2002, age 78 years. Left with loving and cherished memories: husband Jank; daughters Jacqueline (Wendell) Sparkes, Ottawa: Jillian (lamont) Sweet, Stratford, PEI.; Selma (Jim) Blackwood, Glovertown: Signe (Jone) Kubiseski, Osgood, Ont: son (John (Lissa) butt, Glovertown; sister Doris Howse, Peterborough, Ont: sister and brother-in-law Patricia and Edgar Butt, Glovertown. Ten grandchildren, two great-grandchildren. Twenty-one nieces and nephews and many friends. Predeceased by parents Eli and Selma Arnold, sisters Daphne Andrew, Dorothy Ackerman, Geraldine Carroll. Cremation has taken place at Dolly's request. Funeral service at Glovertown Central United church, Tuesday, May 7th 2 p.m.. In liew of flowers donations in her memory may be made to Janeway children's Hospital, Glovertown U.C Cemetery Fund, or Glovertown U.C Organ Fund.

Passed peacefully away on Thursday, April 25, 2002 in the presence of her family at Chancellor Park Seniors Home age 92 years. Predeceased by husband John (1975) Parents Alice and William, sister Gertrude and brother William. Leaving to mourn two sisters: Dorothy Hardy, British Columbia and Patricia Murphy St. John's. Brother-in-law John Stanton (Boston, Mass) sister-in-law Alice Glavine (Harbour Grace and many nieces, newhews and friends. Resting at Caul's Funeral Home, LeMarchant Road, St. John's. Visitation Friday from 2-4 pm and 7-9 pm. Funeral Mass on Saturday, April 27, 2002 at 11 am from St. Paul's church. Interment to follow at Holy Sepulchre Cemetery. Clarke, Leslie S.
Passed peacefully away at the L.A. Miller Centre on Saturday, May 4, 2002, Leslie Samuel Clarke in his 68th year. Leaving behind his wife Helen (Leonard) sons: Joe (Alberta) and Wayne (Janet); Daughters Brenda (Partner Cynthia) and Joy in Ottawa. Grandchildren Danielle and Shane in St. John's, Jessica and Justin in B.C. and Lisa in Ottawa. Brother Howard (Marjorie), sister Olive (Alex paquette) Ottawa; and other relatives and friends. Passed peacefully away at the Veteran's Pavilion on Tuesday, April 9, 2002 in his 85th year. Predeceased by his son Gerard, parents William and Agnes, brother Adrian, sister Therese (Tess) and special uncle Anthony Power. Passed peacefully away on Thursday, April 24, 2002 after a lenghty illenss at St. Joseph's Hospital, Thunder Bay, Ontario, Edward Patrick Dunne, age 61 years. Predeceased by parents Edward (Ned) and Margaret Dunne and sister Phyllis. Left with loving and cherished memories, daughter Dannielle; son Eddie; grandchildren; Christopher, Daniel and Alexis, all of Edmonton; devoted sister Margaret Sullivan (Carl); sister Maureen Stafford and friend Joe; brothers; Gerald and Hubert, Kevin (Patricia) Oshawa, Ontario and Robin (Sheila) Newcastle, Ontario; also many nieces, nephews and a large circle of friends both in Thunder Bay, Ontario and St. John's. Passed peacefully away at St. Clare's Mercy Hospital after a short illness on April 27, 2002 - Edward F. Fitzgerald age 61 years. Predeceased by his parents John and Theresa, Brothers Thomas and John Jr. and sister Elizabeth O'Neill. Leaving to mourn his loving wife Diane (nee Rumsey) sons, Roger, Edward Jr. and Rod: daughters Sharon Furlong (Gerard) Jackie Penney (Barry) brother William Fitzgerald; grandchildren Gerry, Keith Jeffrey, Jacalynn, Stephanie and Barry: special nephew Bud Fitzgerald; special friends Jennie Bailey and Harry Standford a number of nieces and nephews and other relatives and friends: beloved pet Charlie. GAMBLE, Sheelagh
Passed peacefully away on Sunday, April 6, 2002, Sheelagh Gamble aged 80 years. Leaving to mourn her hoving husband Wilson; son Robin (Hazel) daughter Jane Morale (Maurice) and six grandchildren. Left to mourn in Northern Ireland are her loved sister Letty Richardson; brother Jack Weir (Anne) and brother-in-law Jack Gamble (Christine. At Sheelagh's request, cremation and interrment have taken place. A memorial service will take place on Thursday, April 11, 2002 at 2pm from St. David's Presbyterian Church. Following the service tea will be served in the Church Hall for friends and good companions. Flowers gratefully declined. Donations in her memory may be made to a charity of one's choice.

GUZZWELL, Ernest Horwood
Passed away on April 8, 2002 in his 81st year. Leaving to mourn his wife Helen; son David, brother Fred and sisters Shirley Belbin and Florence O'Deady, brother-in-law Edgar Belbin, sisters-in-law Ann Bourne, Betty Guzzwell, Irene Guzzwell, Ruth Guzwell, Vira Guzzwell, Tilley Guzzwell, Ruth Taylor and Willie Taylor and a large circle of caring nieces, nephews and friends who will miss him. Horwood retired in 1985 after giving 35 years of service to his country through Canada Agriculture. He was a member of Lodge St. Andrew and an active partipant in the life of both Kiwanis Club of St. John's and Cochrane Street United Church. Resting at Barrett's Funeral Home, 328 Hamilton Ave from 2-4 and 7-9 Tuesday and Wednesday. Funeral service will be held from Cochrane Street United Church at 2pm Thursday, April 11 2002. "Ed" (Patricia) Mississauga,; Effie, Toronto, Elizabeth Gregory (John) Noosa, Australia,; Ann, Calgary, David (Carol Ann) Sudbury, Chris (Donna) Mount Pearl; Mike (Dawn) Mount Pearl; Charlie (Lynne); three sisters; Catherine Harris, Mary, Vancouver. Leaving to mourn a number of loving nephews and nieces, especially nephews Don, George and Bill Holden, niece Beverley Moyst and their families; other relatives and friends. MOORE, Edgar Lloyd
age 72 of Dartmouth, N.S. formerly of St. John's Nf, passed away at Dr. Everest Chalmers Hospital, Fredericton, N.B. on May 4th 2002 surrounded by family. Born in St. John's Nf, Edgar was the son of the Walter S. Moore and Effie Morton Moore. He was predeceased by brothers Reginald and William. Edgar was the husband of the late Anne Mary (Nolan) Moore of Corner Brook, NF. Edgar is lovingly remembered by daughters Yvonne Moore, Halifax, N.S., Patricia (Jerome) Tapp, Burlington, Ont., Margaret (Peggy) (Lloyd) Savery, Borden, Ont and sons William English (Patricia Hagan), cornwall PEI, Edgar Lloyd (Bernadette Callahan) Oromocto, NB., Grandchildren Christopher, Brittany, Mathew, Braelyn, McDenna, Joshua, David, Christina and Edward, special niece Jeanette Boutcher, and special nephew and friend Stephen Rowsell, as well as many nieces, nephews, special-in-laws and a large circle of friends. "Jack", parents Capt Stephen and Cecilia Penney, sister Mona Johnson, brothers: William, Malcolm and Robin, brothers-in-law, Nathaniel Cole, Boyd Pelley and Jack Pike and sister-in-law Marlene Penney. Passed peacefully away st St. Patrick's Mercy Home in St. John's on Saturday May 4 2002, Mrs. Ida Marie Saunders in her 88th year. She is predeceased by husbank Fred (1965). TILLEY, Olive (nee Porter)
Passed away suddenly after a courageous battle with cancer in the presence of her loving family May 4, 2002, Olive Tilley of Foxtrap at the age of 60 years. Predeceased by her sisters Joyce Searle, Aug 5, 1989; and Maxine Fowler Dec 12, 1989, and nephew Bichard Searle June 19, 1996. Leaving to mourn with fond and loving memories her daughter Linda, son-in-law Gerry Tilley, and treasured grandson Jamie: her partner Fred Baird: brothers-in-law Dawson Searle, and Ern Fowler, nieces Elizabeth and Lori Dearle and nephew Cory Fowler; also great nieces and nephewKerri, Megan and Jeffrey. WESCOTT, Richard Henry
Passed away on May 5 2002 at his son's residence in Kelligrews, Richard Henry Wescott in his 105th year. With a lifetime of experiences as a fisherman, sealer and a member of the Newfoundland Foresters who served overseas during World Way II, Richard Wescott observed his 104th birthday this past January 29th. A native of Petty Harbour, he was predeceased by his wife Jessie (Chaytor) and daughter Florence (Symonds) He leaves to mourn his sons George (Myrthe) and Fred, and a daughter Elaine Burgess-Barnes, Shirley Mixer (Lawrence) and Mabel Doiron, PEI., and an extensive number of grandchildren and great-grand children. Resting at Barrett's Funeral Home, 328 Hamilton Ave from 7-9pm on Monday and from 2-9 on Tuesday. Funeral service on Wednesday, May 8th 2002 at the Anglican Cemetery, Kenmount Rd. WHITE, Effie Jean (Manuel)
August 29, 1935 - April 10, 2002

Entered into eternal rest after a prolonged and courageous battle with cancer, Effie Jean White of Loon Bay in her 66th year. Left to mourn with loving memories are her devoted husband Ronald; loving children: Vernon, Toronto, Peggy Emberley (Jerry) Fort McMurray, Linda Penney (Gary) Buchans; Shawn (Renetta) Loon Bay, Jeffery (Rosemary) Mississauga, John, Loon Bay and Lana, Loon Bay: Mother in law Delphine Mills, Loon Bay: ten grandchildren; four great grandchildren; dearly loved by her brother James Manuel (Oakville); sister-in-law Kathleen Parsons (Oakville); brothers-in-law Rex White, Loon Bay and Eldon Mills (Irene) Goose Bay; Uncles, aunts, cousins, nephews, nieces and a large circle of friends. Predeceased by her parents Raymond and Dorothy Manuel, her brother Scott, grandson Shannon Penney and granddaughter Helena White. Funeral service from the Loon Bay United Church on Saturday, April 13th. Interment at the United Church Cemetery.
